I was just in Mexico City this past August, hung out with someone who lives there, and she said in no uncertain terms to avoid the taxis. Supposedly the cartels and gangs work with them a lot, they are involved in Human trafficking.
Hola Amig@ 👋, Thank you very much for watching and sharing this insight, we didn't even know about it but is interesting, we had used taxi once but just because we were with a local but we did not enjoy the experience TBH. Thank you again for sharing this information so other travellers can have an better idea of the transportation in Mexico City 🙏🤩😊
@@ForTheRoadTravels Here is a link to a RU-vid video on the matter. It seems like taxi kidnappings, rapes and murders are a very serious issue in Mexico city. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QSvOdgXCZi4.html
Hola Ceci 👋🏼👋🏼 Yes, way way better than taxis but always take your precautions it’s a big city, always share your live location if going alone. The two times we’ve always used Uber and haven’t had any issue.
When I went in 2017, I traveled entirely by bus and subway. Apple and Google maps can tell you exactly what lines go where and where they stop. Just search using public transport. And yes, pay close attention when using public transport in any city, because while it's mostly safe, there's always a chance you're caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Hola Zhang 🤗 Yeah, we found out that google maps is very helpful for using the public transportation, and of course as in any major city, you should be aware of your belongings and surroundings. We have some friends there so we always asked for some advice that helped us. Thank you amigo for watching we really appreciate it 🥰🙏
*Hola Jason* 👋👋 Thank you so much, we truly love making these videos and not sugar-coating things, we want to show travelers what they'd expect when they visit those destinations. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏🥰
*@Tyra* Robinson Mexico is quite safe and we always encourage to follow the precautions using common sense, if we can suggest, perhaps join female solo travel groups perhaps there will be other female traveling at the same time as you, this can help you on your travels to feel safer 🫶
I totally agree about safety in Centro historico, it is such a crowded and lively part of the city in the daytime but in the evening after most businesses shut down it is a different story 🤷🏻♂️ Saludos y se cuidan 😁👍✌️
Hola Fer 👋👋 Nice to see your comment 🤩🥰. Yes, when starts getting dark, is another world, and we understand that happens in any major city like this one. We avoided walking at night and we did it like once or twice just because we did not have other option 🤭. Happy seeing your comment here Fer, we hope you're doing amazing, we're sending you a big abrazo from PDC 🤗
NO DONT BELIEVE EVERY THING THAT PPL SAY. IN THE NIGHT ITS ALSO SAFETY EVERY TIME IM THERE. DO YOU SEE THE AMONT OF PPL IN THE NIGTHS IN HISTÓRIC CENTER. EL ZÓCALO IN MÉXICO CITY ITS WAY SAFETY THE TIME SQUARE IN NEW YORK OR IN UNDERGROND IN ATLANTA. PPL LYE TO MUCH ABOUT ONLY REPITE WHAT OTHER IDIOIOT SAY. LIKE IN THE MEDIA IHERE THE USA. BUT ALL THAT IT CURES WHEN YOU START TO TRAVELED. AND YOU DISCOVERED BY YOUR OWN. I DONT KNOW IF YOU EVER BEING IN THE STREET OF ROME IN THE NIGHT??? HOW DANGER THEY ARE ??? AND THIS INDIGINAS. EXAGERATED WITH EL ZOCALO IN MÉXICO CITY.
I Love Mexico city, my advice would be if you are ever lost find a Starbucks. 👍🏽 I had such a good time, really good people. Can't wait to visit again next year
And there are lots of Starbucks there 🤭🤭🫶. Awesome, we are glad to hear you had a good time. Feel free to leave your tips in the comments that helped you with your trip 🙏🏼🙏🏼. Sending all the great vibes amigo 🫶
Just stay in Polanco and use Uber. Just spent 3 weeks there and felt as safe as anywhere else and no issues at all day or night. Although yeh I didn’t go walking around outside Arena México - Uber straight back to Polanco haha.
Awesome, we never visited Arena Mexico but the area at night seems a bit sketchy and overall we enjoyed CDMX and we cannot wait to do the things we missed 🤭🤭. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏🙏🙏
We just returned from Mexico City and I wanted to share this lesson learned. After our day in the central historic district, we took a pink taxi parked in the street. We were charged 600 pesos in a typical 80 to 100 pesos ride. Looking back, there were many signs that tells us DON’T take this taxi but we didn’t listen to…Lesson Learned: Never use pink taxi can but use Uber instead for safety. The pink taxi cab we took is an old beat up car. The taxi does not have any identification displayed in the taxi. The taxi meter was not visibility seen. The meter was placed on his side (driver’s side) tucked deep down on the left dashboard and it was faced down. When we shared this to our hotel staff, he said that it was a good thing that we do not argued for we do not know how the driver would react. I am sharing this experience to avoid getting similar experience. Best to use Uber for transportation for SAFETY reasons. Mexico City is a beautiful city and has lots of amazing places to explore. Enjoy exploring and be safe!! Peace 😊❤
*Hola amig@,* Thank you for sharing your experience. It's always helpful to read insights from other travellers that can assist people when visiting CDMX or any other destination. On our most recent trip to Mexico City, which was a year after the video was taken, we encountered a situation. We had booked an Uber to take us to the airport, but due to a taxi strike, the Uber driver was unable to drop us off at our intended destination, which was CDMX airport. Since we had luggage and couldn't walk long distances, we decided to take one of the pink taxis. We placed our luggage in the trunk and closed it. However, we soon realized that the car didn't have license plates and was actually covered in plastic. Immediately, we asked the driver to open the trunk, and luckily, we retrieved our bags. However, in 99% of cases, these taxis are unregulated (illegal). Thank you for watching and sharing your experience. 🙏
*Absolutely* amig@! CDMX is amazing and we love how many things it has. However we are not fans of big cities, but we love touring this one, there are still plenty more things to complete from our bucket list 🤩🙌. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏🥰
JAJAJAJA I NEW IT THIS TWO INDIGINAS. ARE XEMOFOBIC TO CITY PPL. BECAUSE. THIS THINGS HAPPENS IN ALL BIG CITYS ARROUND THE WORLD NEW YORK , PARIS , LONDON , MUNIC, ROME MADRID LA ATLANTA ETC ETC AT LEASE THAT ONES I EVER BEING. SPECIALLY MÉXICO CITY THAT ITS TWO TIMES BIGGER THEN NEW YORK JAJAJAJA JAJAJAJA JAJAJAJA. PPL FROM THIS CHANBEL THIS THINGS ARE NORMAL IN BIG CITYS. AND CDMX ITS THE LARGEST IN THE CONTINENT AND ITS IN THE 5 BIGGEST CITYS IN THE WORLD JAJAJAJA JAJAJAJA JAJAJAJA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 MAKE A FAVOR TO BIG CITY PPL. DONT COME TO MÉXICO CITY. REMAIN IN YOUR VILLAGE PLEASE JAJAJAJA 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This was a good review, one of the more realistic ones without rose-colored glasses or agendas. CDMX was great, I visited in March for 6 days with my wife & kids (14 & 11) from Houston, TX. We stayed between Polanco & Chapultepec. No issues there, but the vibe in that area changes dramatically after sunset. In broad daylight, two drunks in Alameda Park were shoving each other & yelling (in Spanish & English) near us, with big dogs barking in front of police who just stood by them, though it stopped pretty fast. And the airport (landside, by the entrances) was a bit sketchy with people loitering & sleeping on the floors. Otherwise all was good-- it was a great trip and we look forward to going back. It's an easy 2 hour flight from here, but is sadly overlooked due to certain politicians and "news".
Hola Toms 🙌 Awww, thank you so much! We always love sharing our personal opinions without sugarcoating things. The city truly transforms into a different world when it's dark. In some areas, it's for the better, but in others, it can get a bit sketchy. CDMX, like any other city in the world, definitely has its flaws, but it also offers a lot to see and do. Thank you very much for watching our video and for commenting. Your support means a lot to our channel. Saludos, amigo 🫶🥰
Love your videos! 1. The police in CDMX do nothing. I've regularly walked past groups of people shooting up drugs, smoking marijuana, etc. and cops will be standing right there ignoring it all. 2. It's not that bad here in July in my opinion. It rains in the evening/night mostly, so just wear rain booties and bring an umbrella with you. 3. We really enjoy staying in Coyoacan--for more peace and charm--or the area between Centro and Roma--easy walkability to both popular areas. 4. Definitely agree about not going past Garibaldi. I even know people who've gotten robbed or assaulted AT Garibaldi Plaza, so we just avoid it altogether. 5. I got such bad food poisoning here before that I ended up in the ER due to extreme hydration. Things I've learned to avoid with street food (I still eat it sometimes): there's no make-shift sink, the veggies are washed in tap water or not washed at all, the stand looks dirty, food that should be cold is sitting out all day, the employees are touching their phone or money constantly without gloves or washing hands.
Hola Bailey 🤗 First and foremost, thank you for watching, and commenting, really pushes our video to more people and helps us grow our channel. So, do you live in CDMX? that's cool 1. We saw something like this at the Estela de Luz (I think is the name of the tower right at the entrance of Chapultepec in front of BVVA Bank Offices) but we asked and seems to be a protest for legalisation so the police could not do anything, but we just got the info from one person 🤭. 2. Maybe the flooding is just in particular parts of the city, we suppose. 3. Yeah, we liked being at Roma Sur, we felt very safe and we were walking most of the time, we enjoyed the area. 4. Really, we like Garibaldi for the mariachi, but we were in the afternoon, but we did not feel pretty safe 🤭. 5. Great point, yeah, unfortunately, these bad hygiene practices are quite part of the culture, which sucks, because can make people very sick, is hardly seen a food stand with decent food handle practices, I (Geo) grew up eating street food, but this hasn't made me immune of not getting sick; as what happened to me at Xochimilco 😂😅. Thank you again for watching Bailey, we hope you are doing amazing, sending you great vibes from PDC 🌊 🇲🇽
@@ForTheRoadTravels I stay in Mexico City regularly during the parts of the year when I'm not teaching. My Mexican fiancé lives and works in CDMX while we await the approval of his K1 visa, so I've become pretty familiar with the city. Love your channel, great to see another international couple like us
@@joserobertoramirezarevalo4610 Even my Mexican fiancé gets sick from food here sometimes. He has even gotten typhoid from infected food. However, I am a "delicate princess" in the sense that my stomach is not accustomed to the tap water or some other things in Mexico, like most foreigners. :)
@@youneedacoldpop oh we see, so he's moving to US? that's amazing. Awww thank you so much, we also like to see couples from different countries, is great to see that love does not know, borders, languages, cultures, etc. Thank you so much for your support by watching, and commenting we really appreciate it 🙏🥰
With all due respect, I was born in Iztapalapa. Raised in Chicago my whole life. I know I have an accent when I speak in Spanish but every time I go to Mexico City. I always stay with my family and Iztapalapa. I have ventured out in the colonia on my own with no fear.
We totally understand and we didn’t mention Itztapalapa in any offensive way, we love Mexico City and I’m pretty sure your hometown has some beautiful hidden gems to explore but we believe should be visit with a true local to get the most of it 🤩. Saludos amigo
Great video! Love CDMX! What helps me to avoid "Montezuma's Revenge" is to take 1-2 pepto tablets every morning. That way, when I am exposed to bacteria - and I will be - my stomach will be protected and the likelihood of getting sick is fairly slim. (Also, no uncooked veggies, avoid most dairy, always avoid local water even for brushing your teeth, and never, ever drink ANYTHING with ice cubes.)
Hola Ralph 👋👋 Aww thank you so much for watching and leaving such a nice comment. As well thank you for sharing this interesting insight, we had never heard before, but this is good for other travellers to know! 🙏 Saludos amigo 🤗
Howzit Shoshi 😃😃 Ah, it's so nice to hear that I've got a fellow SAfrican here in MX 🇿🇦🇲🇽🙌🤩 And I'm so glad you love CDMX, I must say, the food in Mexico City and the variety of things to see and do is unreal 🤩🙌
I'm 76 and frequently go to Mexico City/ Over the past 10 years two attempts by pickpockets on buses. I broke the thumbs of both. I enjoy criminals thinking me an easy target. I served 32 years in the US Army and was a Colonel 0-6. But that is their mistake. I have practiced martial arts from age 9. I currently practice Muay Thai, Tai Chi Shoalin and Dim Mak. My blow with either hand is still in excess of 850 ft pounds. But stay away from drugs alcohol and prostitutes you won't encounter many problems. But should add I have complete confidence in any environment and a great sense in avoiding dangers. Certainly a lot safer than anywhere in the US where both criminals and police compete as threats to your well being.
This sounds like BS and a brag rather than advice. If you aren't a Mexican citizen or even if you are, I wouldn't recommend inflicting physical harm on another unless you absolutely have to, or you might be facing jail time yourself.
@@electricreflections No I am not a Mexican Citizen. Nor do I live in Mexico. Your ears must lap over. I said I served 32 years in the US Army. And I am completely good inflicting harm on those intent to inflict harm on others. Especially elderly, , disabled, women and children. 76 never been arrested yet. So must be doing things right. And been to 155 countries, lived in 8, You really need learn how to comprehend what you read
@@riskyron1416 Well first off, I didn't ask if you were Mexican. I wasn't even talking to you. I said if one was a citizen which is different, but I realize you are getting quite old now, so I will type slowly, LOL. The only sentence meant for you was the very first one. But let's act like I was talking to you. Just because you served in the US Army doesn't mean you haven't embraced a retired status as a citizen of another country as I have. I too had expatriate status in multiple countries prior but obviously you don't understand any nuance or lifestyle other than your own. So why do you choose to be a jerk in your response? Oh I know. You didn't like me calling you a braggart. Most people that learn martial arts are pretty chill but not you. Just because you haven't been arrested doesn't mean you are doing a good thing. It just means you've been lucky vigilante. Others are best to heed my advice which is who my comments were meant for anyways. I know you'll need to respond to this because your ego requires it. Self-absorbed, which is why you misinterpreted who I was talking to in the first place. A lack of control from a very likely control freak. I am quite sure you have the inability let things go even when there is nothing left to be said. Goes to show age has little to do with maturity.
Yup there are pick pockets both in metro and metrobus, they will stand around you and push you on the stops so that one of them can take your phone or wallet out. I don't use neither lately but what I do (as a guy) if I need to use them is that I put both wallet and phone in the same pocket and grab them both with one hand, the other hand is to hold to the tubes. Or if possible just don't get in if it's too full.
*Hola amig@*, thank you for sharing these inside tips. We found out that when it's full is when they have more chances to pickpocket you, unfortunately, most of the time and depending on the routes, public transportation is always full. Saludos and thanks for watching 🙌 🙏
My Aunt Virginia who lives in the capital, used to say, b4 going out with my cousin's? Dont eat in the street, but we did it anyway, sometimes you dont even get sick. I've gotten sick at the airport and one restaurant.
*Hola Juan* 👋👋 Yes, to be honest, it's unpredictable. Myself (Geovanny) I've got sick more times than Simone who's not from Mexico by eating street food, so funny 🤭🤣
"Mexico City is both wonderful and dangerous city." 1.Dont take a taxi, maybe be Uber. 2.Dont ask directions. May be to the police. Metro bus or metro station(subway station) is the cheapest and relatively safest transportation. The historic center of MC is best to stay because most beautiful things are concentrated there. July is the rainest and the hottest season in MC like Ethiopia.
Hola Gebru 👋👋 Thank you for watching and sharing your insights with all of us 🙏. We did take taxi only once and was with a friend other than that we opt for Uber. Police has been always helpful when asking for directions or information at least in our personal opinion. We've used more metro than any other public transportation during our travels, most of the metro stations and wagons are clean, and we felt safe pretty much al the time. We actually stayed in Alameda area, which we do not know if it's considered the historic center, but we really really liked the area, very close to Palacio de Bellas Artes 🤩.

I lived in Mexico City in the late 80’s and was told by locals if ever pulled over by the cops to offer to buy them “a couple of cokes”. This was code for negotiating your infraction. In Mexico you are guilty until found innocent. Always offer a bride if the cops tell you they want to take you into the station.
*Hola amig@* Unfortunately is a reality of the country, and sometimes they just stopped you to see what they can take from you, without committing any offense. We now heard that are ways to report any corrupt cop via an app, and is not beneficial for them to take people to the station, gets more complicated to "get" something out of you. Well, luckily we have never experienced but we share what other tourists, travelers, and locals recommend based on their real-life situations. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment amigo
“Pues ponga pa los chescos joven” Jajaj yeh I’ve heard that one before. It’s kind of a common saying tho. Lots of people say that innocently asking for a tip. Or para los tacos.
I lived in Mexico for about 37 years. I was never stopped by the police and I never offered them. I think if we behave correctly, the police are never going to bother you. I also used all kinds of transportation and I never had an issue. I think sometimes something can happen to you in Mexico City, as it can happen to you in any place in the world.

@@normaalvarez4155 yes very safe. We walked everywhere, caught the metro to and from the airport, walked the parks. My wife even walked around by herself one of the days and said she never felt unsafe. Be sensible, use common sense, and ignore the fear propaganda put out by the media.
You guys did a great job sharing tips! We feel like CDMX has been safe. Just have to be smart. We like your tip of the zip ties! We wear our backpack on the front of us when riding the metro.
Hola amigos 🤗🤗, Awww thank you so much, these were the things that helped us in our CDMX trip 🤭. Exactly, Mexico City has been stereotyped as being very very dangerous, but you just need to be aware of your surroundings, and of course there are some areas you should not visit, but other than that it's an incredible city. Yeah, we actually had those releasable cable ties, when we move to Mexico to tie Ted's kennel as requirement from the airline, and now we have used them for our trips, they're always in our backpacks. We hope you guys are enjoying Mexico, we miss you and we hope to see you guys again 🥰🤗🤩
Thank you for your fun & informative video & tips. I LOVE Mexico City!!! D.F. I was paranoid at 1st but once I got out there & explored I fell in LOVE with D.F./ ciudad de Mexico!!! It's a whole world of its own!! I always stay in Centro Historico--right off the Zocalo & have walked around on my own at night!! That said, I'm aware of my surroundings & avoid streets / areas with nobody around. And I love the street food!! I'm curious about the zip cable ties... You called them releasable?-- I only know them as requiring being cut to be removed? I rewound the video several times to try to see how you were using them but it was too short & fast. Thank you & gracias!!
Hey Jose ☺️☺️ our channel is based in Mexico with the mission to share what it’s like to live & travel in Mexico, so we probably wouldn’t be making videos on any of those spots in the near future ☺️ Thank you for watching!
Great and informative video this. I'm also from South Africa :) I'll be visiting Mexico for the first time over December for 4 weeks. I'm very excited but also a little nervous. How many days do you think should I allocate to being in Mexico City? I'll be flying in on the 3rd of December and departing again from Mexico City on 31 December.
Howzit Brian 🤗🇿🇦 That's awesome - I love to hear that more and more Saffas are travelling to Mexico, the culture is warm and friendly like it is back home 🫶 Well, it really depends on how much of a city person you are - if you love cities, I'd plan two weeks in CDMX. But if you really want to see other parts of Mexico, a good seven days in CDMX should give you enough time to see a lot of the major things like Chapultapec, Xochimilco, Centro Historico etc. I hope you have the most wonderful time here 🥰🇲🇽🫶

Two questions. In tourist areas, do people in restaurants, cafes and museums speak good english? Second question. I watched a lot of videos about CDMX and most videos recommend Roma and La Condesa, nothing is mentioned about Centro Historico ? Is it less safe than Roma and La Condesa?
Hola amigo, yes English is widely spoken in the tourisity areas in Mexico City, but not as much as it is in the Riviera Maya, Cancun, Cabo. We recommend checking out this translator device: shrsl.com/4inwp Centro Historico is cool but it can be a bit noisy, we highly recommend Roma Norte/Sur, or even Condesa and Juarez You might be interested in this CDMX article: fortheroadtravels.com/the-ultimate-mexico-city-safety-guide/ Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏

I have been wanting to visit Mexico City for years, and I really enjoyed your video. My biggest safety concern is actually water - what would you recommend to foreigner (who REALLY does not want his trip ruined by Montezuma's Revenge, and therefore will probably avoid 'street food') as far as safe drinking water? I am assuming it would be bottled water, but is there any brand you prefer? Is it all basically the same? Thank you for your video!
Hola Tom! 👋 If your main concern is drinking water, I highly recommend only buying purified water, which is available everywhere. There are convenience stores called Oxxo almost everywhere, where you can purchase 1 or 2-liter bottles, and even 5 and 10-liter options. However, never drink directly from the faucet. You can try either Ciel or Bonafont, as these are the most common brands. Additionally, you can consider the Gerber brand, which is typically sold in pharmacies and is mainly for babies. Thank you for watching and for your comments! 🙏🫶
You can eat the street food you just have to make sure the water is filter… if you haven’t lived in Mexico for sometime your body is not used to the different bacteria like before.

Very impressed with how much relevant information you packed in this short video. New to your channel but would be curious to know how the learning curve was to be able to make videos that are this information dense yet easy to follow. Perhaps, it comes naturally to you but it'd certainly be an acquired skill for me. Be it talent or skill, I do appreciate you making this video for first time travelers like me.
What a wonderful compliment - thank you so much 🫶 Well, we always plan out videos before hitting record, so we already know the structure and the main talking points we want to cover. This helps the keep the video as concise as possible 🙏 And when we plan, it's helpful to think of it from the perspective of 'if we were to travel to (any other country) right now, what would we want to know?' - so that helps us share the most relevant topics we can think of 🙏 It definitely didn't come naturally, it's been a skill we've worked on for at least the last 3 years of our RU-vid channel 🙌 You could definitely do it too - it's just about practice and actively working to improve over an extended period of time 🤗🤗 We hope you have a wonderful time in CDMX 🇲🇽🙌

Hola Noah 👋 Wow, we didn't even know that the Formula One was going to take place in Mexico City 🤭🤭, well the city itself is amazing and with this type of event it would be even better, we'd say October is the best time for visiting Mexico City and Day of the Dead is a unique celebration in the country and CDMX (Mexico City) is one of the most popular places to celebrate it, we bet you will love it. Thank you for watching and commenting we are happy to see comments from people from all over the world. heel erg bedankt vriend 🤭🤩
Hola Christina 🙌 Thank you for watching 🙏. No we have not been recently and we know that there are parts in the USA where can be a bit dangerous, as in any major city. Simone comes from South Africa, particularly Johannesburg and violent crime is really high. In fact South Africa has quite a few city in the list of most dangerous cities in the world 😔. Any way, taking the proper precautions, any city can be good for exploring 🤗. Thank you again for watching, and sending you all the great vibes 🙏❤️
Jy is baie welkom Amigo, ons is bly ons video was nuttig vir jou. So, besoek jy binnekort Mexikostad? Jy gaan mal wees daaroor. Jy sal dalk belangstel in ons Mexico City Guide (Vlog): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NVtDw95PxtE.html
Hola amigo! 👋 We have never been at *Mercado de la Merced*, however if we were to recommend to visit one Market is San Juan Market or even more La Central de Abastos (known as the biggest market in the world). Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏

*Hola amig@* 👋👋 Awww thank you so much, we're so happy you found this video helpful. We have never hired a van for the day, but we found this that might be helpful: shrsl.com/41m89 They offer private transfers from the airport but it we saw that offer private tours too. We hope this info helps. Thanks for watching, we really appreciate it 🫶🙏
*Hola Shreya* 👋👋, We have not visited either of them, however, we had in our plans Arena Mexico for the proximity to our hotel, but we had to cancel last minute. We'd say Arena Mexico, usually, the shows are from 8pm onwards and the one located at Tepito at night do not think is a great idea. Nevertheless, if you are a friend of a local and can advise you or even better go with you, it should not be a problem, but there is not much info we can provide on that 😔. Thank you for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it 🤗🥰
We have never used USD in CDMX however paying in MXN peso is preferred. Nevertheless, finding a Casa de Cambio is a good option, the best place for us to change it’s at a Banco Azteca branch.
*Hola Willie,* We re-watch that timestamp and we could not hear it, but we assumed that might be the people that drive a little truck and buys scrap; typically they use a megaphone to grab the attention of the people inside their houses or businesses. It is very normal in Mexico, especially in Mexico City. Thank you for watching and commenting, we truly appreciate it 🙏
Hola Amigo, Thank you for watching and for your comment. Of course we shared the name of an avenue in this video where we showcased where we got Tamales when we visited CDMX last time: *How to travel MEXICO CITY 🧐 | 3-day ITINERARY + The BEST day trips* ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NVtDw95PxtE.html Saludos.
You guys are not expats. You guys are immigrants. The word expat was created by European and american travelers to distinguish themselves as different from an immigrant. Asians, Africans, and Hispanics are considered immigrants even if the country they reside in is temporary, but American and Europeans call themselves expats, even when the country they move to is a permanent move. So you guys are immigrants
Hola Raul 👋 Awesome, we had never heard about it, thank you we will check it out. This is only for Mexico City or for anywhere in Mexico / World? TIA 🙏🤩
That's such a shame, Mexico City is such a wonderful city to visit 🙌🇲🇽 I'm sure tons of people who've been to CDMX before will encourage you to go, but just to be ware of certain things 😊
You're right to be concerned. Its beyond me why channels like this promote this country knowing good and well that it is not safe. Who wants to be on constant guard for corrupt police officers, being scammed by locals at every turn, restaurants, taxis. Stop PATRONIZING a country that does not value you. Yes there is crime everywhere but it is tenfold in Mexico. The only way change will happen is to bring tourism to a halt. Then they will perhaps see that if they stop killing, kidnapping, robbing and scamming visitors we may come back.
Lol, not all of us have the privilege of being born into a ‘safe’ country. I’m assuming you’re coming from a developed country? I come from a country that is ACTUALLY dangerous- like one of the highest murder/rape stats in the world. So for me,when people call Mexico unsafe, I can’t help but think how out of touch with reality they are. In the last three years I’ve lived here, I’ve throughly enjoyed being able to walk the streets at night and live in a home with minimal security- far different from my upbringing in South Africa 🇲🇽 If you’re so concerned with Mexico being unsafe, simply don’t visit.
@@ForTheRoadTravels you are missing the point. People are looking to get away from the crime of their own country and choose Mexico only to be faced with more crime and daily scamming. Not everyone is going to encounter the violent crimes that take place but you always have to be on guard for the basic everyday things, taking a taxi, withdrawing money from an ATM, eating in a restaurant...easy to say just don't visit. How about just fix it!
When I realized that COVID-19 wasn’t the next plague (mid-April 2020) I booked a family trip to Mexico City. It was wonderful- but I’ve honestly learned things from this video. I thank you for that!👍🏼
*Hola amigo!* Thank you so much for watching our video, we're happy to know that you have a great time in Mexico City, we have visited it twice and still, we have lots of places to explore. We're happy that you found our video informative and that you learnt something from it. Hopefully, you have the chance to visit CDMX in the near future 🙏🫶
Hola Mo 🙌🏼 Yes, it automatically does. Uber works very well in Mexico but keep in mind that there are places where the service is not available. Mexico City is all ok 👍🏼
Hola Diana 🙌 We never carry our passports with us if hotel has safes, we put them inside but we always try to have a picture of them in our phones just in case. We usually carry one I.D license or any other photo I.D. If you are traveling from abroad we also suggest taking a picture of the Immigration card (INM form provided on the plane before landing in Mexico). We hope our video has been helpful on your vacation planning. Saludos Diana 🤗🥰
Hi Geovanny and Simone, I just finished watching your RU-vid video on your visit to Mexico City. My husband how is Mexican are looking forward to relocating to Mexico City, Merida or Coyoacan next-door to year. I think you did a video on Merida and Coyoacan not sure ,we both love the outdoors green space and great museum and Mexican City was on our list, I have the catch-up on the rest of your video. Stay safe and well from hot Fort Lauderdale today.
Hola Dennis 🤗 Amazing, thank you so much for watching 🙏, we have still 2 more videos of our recently travel series in Mexico City to be released in the following weeks (and we also have others from our trip in 2020, you might like them as well 🤭). Yes, we did a video on Mérida about a year ago 🤩. Merida is amazing, the only downside is the weather can be pretty hot. We love Mexico city too, but more for vacation, we are not much of city people, we are still traveling around the country to find the perfect place that is for us, but meanwhile we will share our thoughts of every corner of Mexico, so you can decide which state is right for you 🥰. Thank you so much for your support, by watching and commenting you help us tremendously to grow our channel 🙏. Greetings from PDC Mexico 🌊 🇲🇽
If cops want to arrest you like they did with me for drinking on the street, most are actually just looking for a payoff because they make so little. I had to give them all my money in my wallet
*Yes,* unfortunately bribery is a thing in the country, and they're used to do, and has become somehow "normalized". Thank you, Sandro, for sharing your experience 🫶🙏
Hola *_Martha_* 👋👋 We do live in Mexico so we do not travel with our passports, however, we leave other IDs in the hotel safes when there is one available. We do not want to carry such an important document, so we recommend leaving them in the safes or inside your suitcases and for an extra layer of peace of mind, lock your luggage. We only carry one ID with us, the less valuable one such as a Driver's License or something similar that can be easily issued when coming back from your trip in case of loss.
I give police near my hotel bottled water, soft drinks and sometimes buy them lunch. The result is they will stop traffic for me no matter what the light is. They are always appreciative. Try the electric assist peddle taxis. Half the price, they can also go where cars cannot. Of course with my age the buses are free. Once on a bus the driver would not let me exit the front door. So I made like a bulldozer and shoved 12 people out the rear door, but allowed a woman out ahead that was having the same problem exiting.

Hola Malcom 🤗🤗 yayyy, we’re so glad to know that the guide was helpful for you 🥰🙌🇲🇽🌴 Let us know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see in The Chisme, and we’ll see what we can do 🙌🤩 Un abrazo fuerte 🤗
It's so sad let tht city in hands of people who doesn't have idea how to be a big city.. maybe tha capital is going to be worst if they not have any invest on them... I would like the Vlley of Mexico is big but the mestizo who are the generation from Spain and indigenous mixed are losing because when the indigenous who speak spanish take power and the mestizos have to deal with the most indigenous people arriving to the city... the capital is great but it has been suffer from the same ones... the valle de Mexico need new people more invest.
Wish you had done this video before we went 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 we went to Tepito and we stayed at a hotel in Garibaldi. 🤣🤣🤣 Garibaldi wasn’t to bad as it seems. People just want to sing and have a good time there. It was a very unique experience. Tepito only in Sunday with the Tianguis and you always stay in the middle isle. Never go to the edge where house entrances are. At least that’s what I was told. It’s funny I was with Daria who you know is guerita. It was a very scary experience at first because you feel like you might be targeted more. But actually we had an amazing experience. But I won’t go to Tepito again 2x was enough 🤣🤣🤣 oh and got a good deal on shoes and clothes. Turibus is the best. We did the 5 day one. It was the best.
Hola Frank and Daria, Exactly, I (Geo) visited Tepito with my parents when I was 9 or 10 years old, and was such an experience, but I had always that in my mind that if you go to Tepito you should be very careful, next trip to CDMX I'll take to Simone to the Tianguis 🤭. Yeah, tourist are more susceptible to get targeted by some scammers, it really helps them (our wife's) being with a local, they get somehow local and price preference because of us 🤭🤭. To be honest, the 2 times we've been in CDMX we have never felt the need of renting a car, we think might be more stressful having a car, while touring the city, so that's why the Turibus is the greatest option. Thank you again for watching guys, sending you a big big hug to both of you 🤗🤗🤗
Basically travel there ate your own risk. No thank you. My dad is from Mexico City but unfortunately things have changed since the days we used to travel in the 70’s & 80’s 😞 Used to be the taxis were helpful and a good way to get around. But now that’s changed. We used to take the metro but damn you have to be fast getting in and out lol
Mexico has changed a lot from the 70 and 80s but still we believe the city is still safe, of course you have to listen some locals for their best recommendations. Metro is quite cool and some of the stations and wagons are pretty clean and new. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙏🏼☺️
Hola Ricardo 👋👋 Really? That's amazing, I believe S.A 🇿🇦 was the most of the time the only connexion to Angola 🇦🇴, right? No, I do not speak Afrikaans but I can understand the basics 🤭🤭. Saludos amigo 🤗
Hola amigo 👋🏼 We’ve never been in those places before so we cannot compare with CDMX, but based on our own experience, we felt pretty safe here 🤩. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙏🏼

That’s something that we have read and never experience ourselves 🙏🏼 however fellow expats and tourist have experience some sort of issue with the police but this does not mean that happens all the time, are isolated cases and the times we have visited Mexico City everything has been great and the encounter with the police surprisingly have been so good, they have been so helpful. We hope you do not get discouraged to visit this city because it’s amazing and so much to learn from it 🙏🏼🤩😊. Saludos Ferenc
I don’t think you have heard of asset forfeitures here in America. The police can charge your cash or property with a crime and force you to defend it in court or it becomes there’s. Several rural law enforcement agencies use asset forfeiture to find their departments.
