Is Minato Tsunades son? 

Minato and Nawaki looking scarily similar makes so much sense now now that I think about the possibility of Minato being her son. And why she saw so much of Nawaki AND Dan in Naruto. And if this is true, Naruto calling her Granny Tsunade just becomes even funnier.

A few pieces to help with the Minato theory. Hashirama had 3 children and the middle child, the more known of them, was the father of Tsunade. It is also a slight coincidence that her moms maiden name is non other than Namikaze. It is stated that towards the end of the second war she was pregnant but is never really said what happens with the child. The big theory is that when she gave birth, she couldn’t bare trying to raise the child after the death of Dan and simply gave the child to her parents to raise and her mother being a birth namikaze would explain why Minato is one. Also, if you look back on the pain arc, when jiraiya and tsunade are talking on the bench.. he makes the comment “I’m no parent. But if I had a son like Minato, I’d be proud of him.” Immediately after making this remark, tsunades full expression changes and you can see it on her face. Dan and Minato look a lot alike and Naruto and Nawaki look a lot alike……. Food for thought.

I have a different theory. Minato is Tobirama's great grandson. My theory is based on the fact that Tobirama, Minato and Naruto have the same exact physical traits, nobody knows how Minato learned the flying thunder god technique, and reanimated Tobirama's weirdly placed inner monologue displaying a sense of pride that those two perfected techniques he created. Not to mention that Asura's reincarnation had always been a Senju. If I recall correctly, Tsunade NEVER had children, not even in secret. She was strictly opposed to bringing children into their world.

You know naruto does call her grandma throughout the entire series. Yeah obviously it could just be because of her age but it could also be kishimoto throwing that hint our way

Dan had really high chakra levels according to the wiki so combine that with senju chakra and you have near endless chakra enough to do flying raijin and rasengan over and over and over he also possesed wind and fire style along with yin and yang who also had those four minato both also dreamed of being hokage and deeply cared for the village

When you realize everything is just a huge family conflict

Minato was born when Tsunade was 14 years old, Dan would've been 17 at the time. Dan died when he was 27 years old, Tsunade being 24 and Minato being 10 at the time. Tsunade first met Dan after her brothers death, she is obviously NOT 14 at the time this happening as by the time of Dan's death we assume that they have been a couple for at least a few years not for a whopping ten years. So already by this logic we can deduce that it would be impossible for him to be their son by the timeline alone. But what if the timeline is just inconsistent and Kishimoto decided to do this later on in the series? I can debunk that argument too. If Tsunade and Dan were Minato's parents, Tsunade would've taken him with her after his death, she wouldn't have left him in the village. You see, she took Shizune, Dan's niece with her, possibly to care for her out of respect for Dan and taught her everything she knew. If she took Shizune with her, she would've also taken Minato with her. If she loved Dan and if Minato was her son she would've brought him a long for her journey out of respect for her love. This is theory is an interesting one, and I can see how people like it, but it falls flat none the less. I will happy to discuss it with anyone who disagrees and has some points to bring up in the replies section

I just cannot see her abandoning Dans son, loving someone so much you never "love" again, there is just no way she would abandon Dan's child. More believable if it wasn't his son.

Who the child is aside: this is actually possible, if you look at Failed-Parent-Hiruzen and how NO ONE seems to know that Asuma is his child AND that he has another child because Konohamaru didn't just grow out of a tree (most likely, although we have no proof.) It definitely is within the realm of possibly for characters to have children that we just don't know are their children.

Another point to go along with this is the only other person known to use Teleportation Jutsu (Flying Raijin) as their main Jutsu was Tobirama. And the only other people that were able to use several clones at a time as effectively as Naruto were Tobirama and Hashirama. Every other person shown to use clones only ever used one at a time or if they used multiple then they were basically bots. So it would make sense that they have Senju blood since Naruto and Minato both have high level of control over Jutsu created by Senju

I remember reading the Namikaze clan being an offshoot of the Senju. Like Senju, Uzumaki, Namikaze are all decendants of Ashura

Could also be Hiruzen didn't think Tsunade was capable of raising a child in her current condition and told Tsunade the child died and hid the child away. It wouldn't be the first time Hiruzen hid the lineage of a child because he thought it was for the best.

Imagine how powerful the leaf village would be if grown up Boruto and Sarada had like 8 kids.

Dan Died in the 2nd war at age 27 (Tsunade was 24) but Minato die at 24 and if he was still alive at the end of the 4th war Minato would be 41 and Tsunade was 55 meaning she would of been 14 when she had him. So at the time of Dan death Minato was 10 years old. I think it would be more likely if Minato was the son or grand son of the 2nd Hokage.

I've never thought about this before but I love the Minato theory.

I think this makes sense because if the Senju are supposed to be the descendants of Asura it confirms Naruto being the next reincarnation of him

To be honest, all I want Kishimoto to do right now in Boruto is dive back into character development. Clean up these questions or mysteries before we watch Naruto fight another alien. Naruto isn’t getting younger and we need closure on some of this stuff. This is what bothered me about the old Naruto fillers. They should’ve been aimed answering things instead of sending a partial team 7 to protect a boat race.🤷‍♂️

Plus during the whole war arc, they really highlight how the Senju and the Uchiha always fought, so it would make sense that Naruto would be somewhat related to the Senju to keep the flight between the two clans going

Okay, personally I was spreading this theory for almost a year, so I know it's flaws. And I have a ways to fix them. When Minato was born, according to the timeline, Tsunade was 14 y.o. And haven't met Dan yet. However, what if we give Minato some spice in his backstory? What if Minato is an artificial son of Tsunade and Dan, created by Orochimaru as a way to distract her from loosing her brother and love, being almost same age as her brother, and looking like her lost love? Of course Orochimaru is really bad at normal people's psychology, so Tsunade turns away from this child, leaves village, Orochimaru be like "wtf am I gonna do with a 10 y.o. boy?"... A-a-and this is a perfect place for the last Sannin to kick in. Jiraya bring's Minato into the leaf as an orphan of war, and becomes his sensei after he graduates an accademy.

OR was hashirama's wife actually Kushina's mother or grandma? They were both taken away from the hidden Eddie village just to be jinchuriki. Also in one of our few flashbacks of kushina we see she lived in a very nice home, Almost like royalty. Not to mention the fact that hashirama's wife (Mito I think is her name?) Made sure to have a conversation with kushina before she became the jinchuriki. Making sure she found happiness while she's brushing Kushina's hair. It gives the appearance of a mother or grandma brushing her hair.

The reason naruto calls tsunade ganny is because of a translation disconnect. “Baachan” as he calls her, is actually more reminiscent of old lady than grandmother in Japanese, as it is a common thing to call older women outside of your family. The same being true of “ji ji” meaning old man rather than grandfather

That’s why he needs kunai markers for his flying raijin, and why he can’t use Sage mode until he’s an edo tensei with infinite chakra. Also, the Senju aren’t extinct in any way. They just dispersed and interbred with the other clans of Konoha to promote unity rather than keep a “pure line”. They’re everywhere in the Leaf.

Minato was also jiryia's student right, I dont recall seeing what "squad jiryia" looked like so what if he personally trained him and looked after him as such a fatherly figure because Minato is her son and she left to wander, Minato would be all jiryia had of her in the village, somewhat also explains why he basically left the village after Minato died despite knowing Naruto his God child was just born. To me if it was just student and teacher he would have honored his God father role, but if he felt like a real God father to Minato his death would have impacted him enough to leave for as long as he did and give reason for him to not want to get attached to Naruto when he did meet him.

When you think about it in a way; technically related or not Naruto would be the last Senju because his arm is made of Hashirama cells. So like you said, the only way to reunite the 4 bloodlines would still be is Boruto and Sarada ended up together and have a kid.

*All the supporting info:* _There are a lot words here_ Minato having insane chakra reserves (spamming flying raijin when it takes 3 high level Jonin working together to be able to pull it off just once, also spamming rasengan). That level of chakra can only be achieved through genetics, hard work alone doesn't take you to that god level chakra. Hashirama and Tsunade have god-tier chakra reserves because of their Senju DNA (plus Uzumaki for Tsunade). Minato having perfect Sage Mode, something Naruto and Hashirama both have. Why would Minato's body be able to handle Sage Mode so smoothly/quickly? Not only does Sage Mode need insane chakra reserves to actually work, but also for the user's body need to be "in tune with nature". Hashirama's Sage Mode was not toad or snake Sage, but he possibly taught it to himself due to possessing wood style (trees are nature). He was so skilled with wood style, that it isn't far fetched for him to teach himself his 'vanilla' Sage Mode. Madara, also acquired this exact Sage Mode after implanting Hashirama's face onto himself, proving Hashirama Cells allow you to get this type of Sage Mode. Cells come from DNA, which would be passed down to Minato, but the effects would not as strong as Hashirama's OG cells, but enough to support Minato's body in perfecting Sage Mode. Naruto resembling Nawaki (Tsunade's dead little bro) nearly identically. This would make more sense if Naruto' was actually related to Nawaki by blood. Why would Naruto and Hashirama both be the same exact Asura reincarnation, unless they are already related by blood somehow. All Uchiha are related in some small way through them originating from Indra, thus making Sasuke and Madara being Indra's reincarnate be total sense as they're both Uchiha. Naruto is not a Senju, but an Uzumaki/Namikaze. The Uzumaki are not Senju, but good friends with them. Hashirama was pure Senju. I do not believe Naruto could get the 'Asura genes' from his mother's Uzumaki DNA, unless his dad possessed some Senju blood like Hashirama. Kushina's DNA was most likely pure Uzumaki, since she had the strongest form of chakra chains (an Uzumaki trait) and she was specifically chosen to be the Jinchuriki of Kurama. Naruto didn't have the chain ability, not even Nagato did (another half Uzumaki, plus half Senju, which Madara explains why he chose him to house his Rinnegan). Karin did have the ability, but we don't know if her dad was also Uzumaki like her mom, but then again Karin's chains were pretty weak (Orochimaru compared her to Kushina). Minato's parents were never mentioned. His clan is unknown. Tsunade was a complete different person after the Shinobi Wars she experienced. She was completely traumatised by blood to the point she couldn't even stand up for herself against Kabuto punching her. It is perfectly possible that she gave up Minato since she understands she is unfit to raise a child while carrying so much trauma. When Tobirama fights alongside Naruto, he constantly keeps talking about how it is like he is fighting alongside his elder brother. Naruto and Tsunade get along far too well, as if they are family. He calls her Granny Tsunade, which she doesn't call out against (a cheeky nod?). Also, Tsunade was the first Hokage to outright show full support for Naruto. She is the only Hokage that threatened the village elders whenever they didn't believe in Naruto or wanted him locked up. Why would she have so much faith in Naruto? She knows he's one goal is to be Hokage, just like her deceased loved ones (Dan and Nawaki). She understands he is fully committed to achieve that goal of peace. Something that she once believed Nawaki then Dan could achieve, then she lost faith after their death. Naruto restored her faith. She threatens the village elders to protect Naruto. Its personal for her. Her own grandson, Naruto, who has fully restored her faith into once again believing peace is actually possible, this is someone she would definitely fight for and support. Sakura mastered the 100 healings Jutsu. It's more likely Sakura has a Senju bloodline. Sarada has the Senju + Uchiha bloodlines. Boruto has Uzumaki and Hyuga bloodlines. Senju + Uzumaki = Ashura, Uchiha = Indra. Indra + Ashura = Hagaromo. Hagaromo + Hyuga(Hamura) = Kaguya level blood line. So, yeah. Boruto and Sarada's son would have a pure otsutsuki bloodline.

i don't think the senju bloodline is gone in that way. We know that the senjus married a lot inside of the village, even giving up the name senju to be a part of the village. This links me back to our favorite useless character (that is a bit less useless now) sakura, who in that case could have inherited senju blood from her somewhat noname parents because they just had it without knowing. I think Yamato being her son makes nore sense since she would’ve been about 28 when she gave birth to him. Minato is older than Yamato. Minato was 24 when he died. Naruto was around 13 when he met Tsuande who was 51 at the time. Meaning if Minato was alive he’d be 37. This would imply that Tsuande was 14 when she gave birth to him, though this could be why she had to give him up.

Hashirama was Senju, Mito was Uzumaki, Tsunade is their grand daughter and we have no clue what's mixed in with their parents so she's at least a quarter Senju and part Uzumaki.
