Is it important to you to have natural gemstones? Let me know in the comments and be sure to check out Mason-Kay’s jade testing services here: www.masonkay.com/jadeite-services-and-fees

I don't necessarily care if what I have is real or not. If I like it, I like it. I'd just like to be knowledgeable about it. I certainly appreciate real stones and the time, energy...the whole process of producing gorgeous pieces from stones and gemstones, from the mining all the way to the store to be sold.

yes its important to me because i don't want acid, dye, and other chemicals that are in treated jade/neph.. Plus I like grade A jadeite/nephrites for its "protective" abilities (cultural beliefs.)

Exactly. Jadeite bangles that are highly translucent, no matter what the color, are very rare and expensive, and can be priced thousands of dollars. This is because translucency in jadeite is very rare. If you can see your finger through the bangle, it’s translucent.

@@JewelsoftheTrade There are some jadeite bangles for sale on Etsy that are guaranteed to be grade A natural Burmese jadeite. Their color is a very, very faint green, but because of their good translucency and few flaws they sell for a couple of thousand dollars.

I’ve been collecting jade for awhile and it’s an incredible stone historically and otherwise. It’s an extremely valuable stone that many people don’t know is as valuable as it is. Americans just don’t know what it is or how much it costs. Now that’s slowly changing, but I can still find really nice, quality jadeite in pawn shops and they will beg me to buy it because no one else even notices it.

A real natural untreated jadeite bangle with no serious fracture will emit a beautiful, clear, light “ting” even if you hit it with your fingernail. It’s truly a unique and special stone. And yes, a translucent natural untreated jadeite bangle will sell for thousands of dollars, even if the color isn’t that strong. That’s because translucent, natural untreated jadeite is very rare. A totally opaque jadeite bangle with strong color will sell for less than a very translucent jadeite bangle with faint color.

@JewelsoftheTrade
@JewelsoftheTrade 2 года назад
Haha, I think you’re right! I’m unwilling to test a variety of bangles to find out for sure though due to the expense. It should be noted that the bangle I dropped was already fractured and of poor quality. Higher quality / translucent bangles that are unfractured are MUCH tougher than the one in the video. I once dropped a translucent jadeite bangle from about hip-height onto a steel pole and it wasn’t scratched, fractured or damaged in any way. Still shouldn’t have done it though! It was definitely an accident.

Yea these videos make it seem like the only place online to buy Jade is Mason K and that Jadeite has to be thousands of dollars to be real. I've found several reputable sellers on Etsy that sell real Grade A Burma Jadeite for anywhere from $80 to 22k. They include certification and have many customers that have verified the authenticity for themselves. They all provide full refund if you find that your Jadeite is not real Grade A.
@PureLovable

@@blackgrlfly well there can be fake certificates as well, and i do not trust and would not trust an 100$ jade bangle unless it is treated, or if someone wants to just sell it off fast, or is a very low quality one..

Thank you for this great video! As for gemstones, I really don't like the idea of "glass" rubies (fissure-filled rubies & other corundum stones like sapphires), & will not buy what I think are an abomination. Also, I would rather have an inexpensive emerald that has only been oiled (like my tennis bracelet that actually looks like jade) rather than a fake dyed one. I am ok with really small lab created stones like an inexpensive small-stone lab white sapphire ring I have, in jewelry that is not of great sentimental value to me like my diamond wedding set. I just can't accept dyed natural gemstones. Even tho I have seen jadeite sold stating that it has been bleached & dyed, I didn't like the idea of it, but I did not understand the ramifications of it being "fake Jade" until I started watching your videos!

I'm more about real stones than anything treated. This had me wondering if a low quality jade - although valued at much less - would still be good to wear, since it is the natural stone. My jaw dropped when he said that child's bangle was real and untreated. For $15???? 0_0 It might be low quality, but it's still real jadeite jade. ...or 'was.' When you dropped it, I gasped, "No!" Then again, I don't know how prevalent lower quality jadeite is in the market. Would you have an idea of how readily available it is, and if spending 100 - 200 on one makes sense, or is that amount still under priced?
@JewelsoftheTrade
@JewelsoftheTrade Год назад
That’s a great question! “Commercial” quality jadeite, even when natural, is more brittle and will break more easily. A $100 natural jadeite bangle like the one in this video is probably internally fractured, has a large internal crystal structure, and is probably very dry. We gave my mother-in-law a $20 ring in commercial jadeite, and she broke it against another ring while clapping her hands. This isn’t the type of jade you’ll see in a jewelry store or coming from suppliers like Mason-Kay, but it is the type of jade you might see on Etsy and Amazon. As long as you wear it with care and rub it with your fingers a lot, it should be fine. But if you’re looking for a long-lasting piece, I suggest shopping with a supplier like Mason-Kay or a local fine jewelry store
