If you have ungrounded three-prong outlets in your home, it's important to address the issue for safety reasons. While it's not recommended to simply wire the ground wire to the neutral wire or any other improper methods, there are a few options you can consider:
Install GFCI outlets: Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) outlets provide a level of protection against electrical shocks, even if the outlet is ungrounded. You can replace your existing outlets with GFCI outlets, which are designed to detect ground faults and quickly interrupt the circuit to prevent electric shock.
Use grounding adapters: Another option is to use grounding adapters or "cheater plugs" that allow you to plug a three-prong device into a two-prong outlet. These adapters typically have a metal tab that can be connected to the faceplate screw or grounded metal junction box, providing a grounding path for the device.
Rewire the outlets: The most ideal solution would be to rewire the outlets with proper grounding. This requires running new electrical wires with a ground conductor from the outlets back to the electrical panel. Rewiring can be a complex and labor-intensive process, so it's recommended to hire a licensed electrician to ensure it's done correctly.

Hi there; question for you. I moved in into my home a year ago, the house is only 8 years old,and when changing some outlets in a bedroom to replace them with usb built-in I came across one outlet with the ground looped on the neutral side. The wiring is the original from when the house was built 8 years ago. If I undo the ground loop and turn the breaker on , it tripped (nothing connected to any of the outlets) I pulled out all of the outlets and switches to see if something was amiss. I turn the breaker back on without the loop and it didn’t trip but the connection that continues from this outlet (master bathroom) stopped working. Connecting the ground loop back to the neutral as I found it, resume power to the master bathroom I know without seeing it is hard, but do you have an opinion as to what’s going on?
