This is medical use of Botox for a neurological disorder of the larynx called laryngeal dystonia. LD causes the clinical syndrome much more commonly referred to as spasmodic dysphonia. I had scheduled some cosmetic Botox and was concerned about systemic side effects since I was recently diagnosed with a polyp on my vocal cords after 2 months of chronic laryngitis/recurrent sore throat and marked change in my voice.
