With all due respect the highest lifetime collection of the recent time pak movies are 0.75cr .Nayab has surpassed all the recent movies which are released in pak (still it's not released in overseas & stil it's running in the theatres) Yumna shouldered the entire movie, you need not promote her (as everyone will have their personal preference) but let not discourage her from picking up more female centric scripts

This entire comment section is "Yumna is the best actress BUT" ,"Yumna is the versatile actress BUT" .This 'BUT' is our perception of how actresses have to be present in certain way, which has been ingrained into our minds over the years. Don't worry eventually even Yumna will be FORCED to leave these critical acclaimed scripts & resort to start doing commercial movies even then she will have some ppl coming after her saying "Such a normal commercial heroine role, never expected Yumna to take up such kind of role tsk tsk"😂 Girl Yumna you do you 😊❤️.Lots of love❤️

People already criticized yumna a lot for taking up the commercial role in tere bin.all other actresses can do commercial movies but yumna is not allowed to do a commercial drama.they only want to see her in serious roles.fans of other actresses were also mad because they didn't expect yumna to do so well in a commercial drama like tere bin.some people have a vendetta against her because of the popularity of tere bin.and then our critics at SH are comparing nayab to commercial movies like SOTY and the fast and the furious.they aren't even reviewing a performance-oriented movie like nayab properly and asking yumna to look "glamorous" while playing cricket.sad state of affairs overall.people are never happy whatever she does

I think you should not say that Why they had done lots of promotions or create lots of hype of their movie ? I know that movie doesn't click you but it doesn't mean that from the fear of failure you didn't enjoy your present time. She is just enjoying her promotions and did her best in movie. This was her debut film. I think you should welcome new people in industry if you want that industry make progress. And i remember when you see "Inkarr" you said that this actress has no screen presence but she proved you and played a phenomenal characters. So just relax and hope that she brings the best for silver screen. It's just her first step towards big screen. So courage her instead of saying that she will not do a movie because it just give you a drama vibes. After she gave you 2 or 3 movies of same type then you will say this.

@annie-ql9ks
@annie-ql9ks 8 месяцев назад
In all industries including Lollywood, the scale of promotions is based on BO potential. Nayab producers spent at least 1.5-2 crore at promotions. But it looks like the BO will not even recover the production budget. If a film is niche or intended to make 67 lakhs in week 1, no producer will spent 1.5-2 crore on its promotions. Producers invest this much because they expect a return. Producers can decide what they they want to do but people will comment if it is out of industry norms and standards. If Chikkar was promoted like this and made 70 lakhs at BO, everyone would ask the same question.

If you have Alia Bhatt debuting with a SOTY, then you also have a Kareena who debuted with a Refugee or a Vidya Balan debuting with a Parineeta. Kangana Ranaut (vile she maybe now but she was once respected as an actress) started her career doing edgy, performance-oriented roles like Gangster and Woh Lamhe. Yumna has already established a reputation of doing strong author backed characters. It would be strange for her to play a glamorous bimbo as her first film role. It's a different matter that Nayab doesn't seem to be well made, but I don't think the concept of the movie itself was the problem. If it had been more sports-related and have those highs in the script, it might have generated good WOM and performed better at the box office.
@lipikakumari905
@lipikakumari905 8 месяцев назад
I also couldn't understand why aamna brings style into everything and bringing Alia's debut film soty into this conversation is totally absurd. I really think it's a bad debut for a talent like alia Bhatt. I mean your debut performance need not to be glamour at all.like you said it shown be like vidya kangana or kareena. Aamna needs to get out of her style reviews and do the movie review from a broad perspective.
@Truxygg
@Truxygg 8 месяцев назад
#miashah1654 I very much agree with everything you said and kudos for putting together all the points so well with some great examples. I also believe making a debut by playing a bimbo in it is such a let down, Alia was able to survive because she always had backing from Karan Johar. Personally, I don’t think Alia bhatt’s acting is anywhere close to Deepika, Kareena, Kangana etc. P.S. Kanagana Ranaut is still a very much respected actor keeping aside the controversies.

@@Truxygg one doesn’t have to be nude or hiding under makeup to look glamorous. To make the character glamorous is directors job not the actor. Yumna has done good job but treatment of film is poor. Try to put actor & director in two different boxes. I’m writing again, glamour is not nude, short clothes glitter, red lips or long eye lashes with thick liner. Its Yumnas first time, and i think she will eventually work this out. This wasnt a big production, with a seasoned director or with an established male lead, where she was going to be the wallflower, and i respect that choice. I appreciate she takes the path less travelled. And with most of our lead actresses, their first movies did not fare too well (Saba Qamar-Manto, Mahira Khan-Bol) i think if we even do a ratio of all Pakidtani movies produced to those that recoveted the cost of productions, the numbers would be sad. Films in Pakistan are a very risky business, We talk about Maula Jatt a lot, but nobody seems to remember that this film was 10 years in the making, so despite the numbers it did, it's not exactly a successful model to build films on.
@annie-ql9ks
@annie-ql9ks 8 месяцев назад
correction: Bol was a very big hit. The state of Pakistani box office is very sad and even breaking even is next to impossible. But for a movie to not even recover its promotions budget is another level of fail. Producers don't market a movie like Nayab the way they did if it was expected to make only 67 lakh in week 1. So it would be fair to say Nayab underperformed even relative to the low BO expectations. This doesn't mean Nayab is not a great film. It is one. But box office is about $$$. High quality movies flop all the time. P.S. Waar was Bilal Lashari's first film and TLOMJ his second. Whether a director is seasoned or not has not much to do with whether film is good bad, hit or flop. Imtiaz Ali initial movies are way better quality than his latter endeavors for instance.

The characters were multilayered, from the girl to her brother to her father. With due respect Hasan and Aamna i cant believe you guys consume foreign content!!! Do you think hollywood movies are judged based on larger than life stories, scenes and especially hero and heroine's glamourous looks?? Havent you watched oscar winning Room, my left foot and so much more... they didnt have a larger than life execution but but rather a super realistic one... I agree with Aamna that the story and performances were great but the execution was the problem, but not throughout the whole movie... I disagree with Hasan that it is a sports movie it was never promoted as a sports movie the cast has always said that it is Nayab's story and the ppl connected to her, so looking at it that way i quite liked it, and didnt feel it wasnt made for cinema. It surely didnt have the larger than life treatment but certainly did feel like a film and not a drama at all... and again Aamna wt is with being glamorous in films, the type of actor Yumna is, had she chosen a glamorous role for her film debut i wouldve been extremely disappointed... for her to be in that awful attire sweaty and all bare face for her roles should be commended by critics like you (if not the audience) not bash her for her guts to show her dhula hoa moo, dont you guys urselves demand the content to be diverse and different overall in out film and drama industry??? As a Marvel fan and having watched all their movies in the theatre, NAYAB was my first Pak film i watched in cinema, and i have to say it is not flawless but i loved the concept the acting the whole story and also the losses as it was extremely relatable in so many ways and levels, and Relatability is Nayab's strongest point apart from solid top notch performances which maked relate with almost every character and feel for all of them ❤ One more thing, i really dont know wht's with Hasan saying not to go watch it (really shocking to hear) or the promotions were too much even before the movie released... Pyaare Hasan promoting a movie is their right and i believe everyone should be idealizing Nayab's promotions, if Nayab can do it then why cant the rest of the film makers... all over the world ppl promote their films even Marvel movies that do comparatively better in terms of profits their stars promote excessively, according to Hasan's logic "that promotions utni hi karni thien jis tarha ki film bani hai" then Mulan, batman(george clooney), justice league, 47 Ronin and others shouldnt have promoted their movies as they were flops of big stars?! The bottom line is ppl need to understand not every film can and should be glamorous, PNJG or a ghissi pitti love story... i as a content consumer want diverse roles on my screen either tv or cinema.. BTW would you guys do a sitting with Yumna and ask her opinion about the film personally, it would be exciting to know how an actor feels after their movie screens and the feedback starts coming in... Respects and regards

I agree, if I were in Yumna’s place, i wouldn’t sit with them. This review was really brutal, Hassan telling people “not to go and watch it”.. I think they went too far here. Something haute used Nayab and Yumna’s popularity. They did a haute bites on Nayab premier, they invited Yumna and Usama, that video got good views. Then Aamna did her Fashion Fortnightly videos on Yumna and Usama’s looks on Nayab’s promotions. Hassan u may have forgotten that u interviewed Yumna and she said that it is not just cricket rather it is maily about family values and relations. Did u guys see the posters of the film by any chance ? If u have then u would know there r three posters and in no poster Yumna is shown to be batting or playing cricket. In The family poster the cricket kit is there near Yumna's leg and on her solo poster she has that kit on her back...portraying a fearless and brave girl and in the other one there is no kit. Cricket is A PART and it's the girl's dream which could be anything like becoming a doctor or painter or anything. Choosing cricket is definitely a brave move by the writers as well as Yumna.

I just saw the movie, and waited to see this review till I saw the movie, and I’m glad I did cause I feel it would’ve ruined it for me. I feel this review video could’ve waited a few more days as it just released internationally. I didn’t go in expecting much but wanted to give my support to Pakistan and did enjoy it. I would recommend the movie overall for those that can see it with ease. It’s not as bad as this review is saying but it is okay to see on as well. Spoilers ahead- The movie isn’t bad but it does have issues of not being as grandeur, having a weak start and some disconnect in scenes. I agree with the end regarding Akbar, he was my favorite and one I could connect to, his story was sudden change and too close to the end to take that turn. I didn’t get either why Akbar couldn’t get back to cricket after the incident and the uncle being found, it shouldn’t have stopped him from going back. Styling was fine cause not every character cares abt their hair and clothes and have a certain taste and budget. I think she was glammed enough for her character. She looked completely fine to me. Yumna was perfect. Acting was great and it’s def not a 22 Qadam in my opinion except two women wanting to play cricket. If you’re going to talk about stories I was about to say Animol didn’t have one- it was crazy entertainment. Aamna seems to give fair criticism but I don’t what happens to Hassan. Whenever anyone is sharing a positive take on a movie he didn’t like he won’t let them finish and be like “but how/why?!” He did the same with the Dunki review- and the other day on Jaane Jahan-he doesn’t let the other speak without getting so caught up on them for disagreeing with him. He has the right to disagree and not like something but allow someone else to like it without interrogating them for that choice. Aamna critiques calmly- and points out correctly the reasons. Only agreeing with Hassan on Rocky Rani ki Prem Kahani even in the cinema I couldn’t handle some parts. Again, I would recommend the movie overall for those that can see it with ease.

Also Wahaj and Yumna are good friends, I’m sure Nayab as a project was discussed and so there is no way the Nayab team didn’t know about 22 qadam’s storyline. Good conversation on Pakistani cinema as a whole .. As a neutral viewer I feel the industry don’t invest on stories and celebrities that are currently popular - why not cast yumhaj in a larger than life love story for the movies - something like the yashraj … I’m sure that will gain many viewers… also there are enough examples of what the audience don’t like in story telling - abuse toxicity etc .. I’m sure all these learning processes will make the industry better …

So what's the criteria of seeing movie ratings because most of the time imdb rating is opposite what the people are saying. I live in US was eagerly waiting for nayab release because I am a huge yumna fan and I am continuously checking imdb. But I am in a doubt because you guys are right movie should be paisa wasool and hero heroin romance . So how authentic is imdb rating. I don't understand why the Pakistani film industry continues to produce films. Of all the films they've made or that I've seen, only "Maula Jatt" and perhaps "Teefa in Trouble" were watchable. The stories of other films were quite lackluster. Or why not take the stories which are made for cinema and make it into a drama? It brings in new topics, addressing the complaint that dramas lack fresh stories.

YUMNA ZAIDI IS NOT FOR FILMS.….SHE shouldnt have had done film in the first place. She can play heroine’s sister/friend or hero’s sister but not the.…… unfortunately that is a harsh truth. Remember Rohi Bano ? Brilliant actress but not for movies. YUMNA IS A TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL, SKILLED ACTOR AND SHOULD CONCENTRATE ON HER WORK AND NOT GET DISAPPOINTED WITH THE FAILURE OF NAYAB.

Its not a very good comparison to put fast and furious against a pakistani movie. The audience of fast and furious are mostly people who can afford it and also have that tendency to run after trends and do things because everyone else is. I know people who watch the avengers to be able to put up a story. Pakistani films have to somehow grab that audience and make their film a “trend” to be able to do more business. Because people who maybe want to watch nayab for either yumna or even the content might not be able to because of money constraints or even ghar ka mahol not letting young girls go to the cinema. T

I think there’s a lot missing from our film industry. We need a deeper dive into the psyche of our film makers. They don’t know how to edit a movie, don’t how to get proper sound quality, and don’t know how to frame or project the story. Not every story is for the big screen. Not every film has to be released whenever. Producers and directors need to think about the release schedule, promotional material, the stars, the media hype and the overall story and its impact.

We need better movies and these small budget movies aren't doing anything for Pakistani cinema instead it's causing more damage. I agree with all your points, we need larger than life cinema like TLOMJ, QEAZ and PNJ. It's time these directors come back because we only have them and they can only sustain this industry.

My two cents on the matter would be that our film industry needs to take their craft seriously. I can bet if Animal gets released today in Pakistan, the theatres will be flooded. Simple as that, good films will catch viewership.

Animal is just pure misogynistic, violent trash.wouldnt call it a "good" film.sex and violence sells, just like it did with animal.but popularity doesn't equate to quality

Hassan I want to disagree wid u dt only large landscape and glamorous role give true cinematic experience. I should recommend you to watch 12th fail recent bolly fim ..it has done a great business (sleeper hit) with no such elements, on the other side other high budget films are struggling. As an Indian I also found 12th fail more interesting. So it depends on industry state too. Pak cinema is itself in struggling phase, hence it is difficult for it to support such movies.

Guys, what do u want? This is a film review and they have complete right to say what they thought about the film. just bcoz Yumna is a great great actress or many people liked it does not mean they have to like it too. And review are harsh all over the world. Just bcoz your industry is small and is trying to thrive does not mean we have to treat it like babies and se haye mela bacha boht acha kaam kia hay aur try karo. The critics have to be professional.
