I don’t agree with Amna, Hassan was offered help which he refused to accept. At this point he is toxic. There is no redemption for him. Zaara could have died. He left no stone unturned to torture. Ultimately, what makes a person toxic, it’s the refusal to recognise faults and learn from them. Not all people who have childhood traumas become abusive rather they become empathetic to others. That’s what differentiates good from bad and abusive and toxic from empathetic person.

Completely agree with you! Initially I also thought he's not a bad person, it's a childhood trauma, he'll be fine if someone genuinely love him and will be there for him. But no he's not only toxic but a narcissist. Doesn't want to accept the fact that he's the problem. Not only him, his father for sure was and so is his granny. Khandaani pagal hain yeh log, inko band karo bassss.

Jaffa- Agree with Amna’s POV. If they don’t show Hassan’s rehab, our society won’t learn what to do in such situations. If Zara leaves Hassan, nothing is stopping him to marry again tomorrow and insist on planning baby from get-go and then resorting to gaslighting and physical abuse if he doesn’t get his way. That’s what happens in our society and we need to show not to do this at all! We really need to show for our society’s Hassans and dadis that what could actually be the outcome of therapy and counselling (i.e no electric shocks, no stigma of labelling as “pagal”). And yes, also agree with Hassan’s pov that they should also show the repercussions of Hassan abusing Zara and (if) killing his mother. Both sides (punishment and rehab) are important and should be shown in this drama.

Jafaa: Zara’s situation should be an eye opener for girls. Leave quietly and safely , avoid direct verbal confrontation with the psycho. Also, trauma or no trauma, girls should stay away from boys with temper issues. The angry young man image of a lover is not masculinity. Uncontrolled anger can quickly escalate to verbal or physical violence hurting people around you. If Hassan’s father had similar problem, then it is genetic and has nothing to do with any trauma. Why does Hassan hate his mom , if she was the victim? Did dadi lie to him? On the other side they show Numair suspicious in one episode and normal in the other.

Jafaa : I have never seen a domestic violence scene like the one in this show...I was trembling to my core and then they show the violence thru the french window... My heart came out in my hand!... When I have not seen physical violence in reality and yet this could shake me, I am sorry for the women who have experienced this and had to go thru it again!... I am sorry but tis story had to be told the way it was!.... Hats off to the director, writer and Mawra!... Mawra has really grown up in this project (and some in Nouroz), from the shadow of a "little sister"!... I agree with Aamna, I am 100% interested in seeing the charcater arc of Hassan reaching its conclusion and preferably on a true redemption path...Shld it be with Zaara - Absolutely not bcoz that ship has sailed now and even her parents will be stupid to let it happen this time... but Aamna's choice of words were precise - He is not Toxic like we have seen few husband characters in domestic violence... Like his Dadi once said, "you are golden boy if only you could control your anger"... That path to "control" shld be shown in the show, even if it is without Zaara! BTW, Does a woman feel sleepy during the day when they are pregnant? I had heard that a brain tumor could give these symptoms - feeling sleepy & giddy!....I think Andaleeb is suffering from something serious! ...

Jafaa: I think it was Hassan who brutally killed his mother.. That's why dadi keeps saying she will not let same thing happen with Zara because she knows Hassan has the potential to kill and can go to any extent if he lose control of his anger... If Hassan really loved Zaara he must have committed suicide out of guilt.. Don't know how is he still defending himself that he didn't do it purposefully..Him still wanting to not leave Zaara alone is the epitome of toxicity..But the acting of both were on-point..Fantastic! Specially the slap was so tight and real Loving the content of dramas in recent days..There are so many good shows recently..Highly enjoyable and thought-provoking❤

Jafaa- Hassan is a TOXIC character !! Completely agree with Hassan when he points out that it doesn't really matter now if he has past trauma or whatever which triggers him to act this way. No way he can be seen as a good man gone bad. He innately does not want to change. He would have seen the psychiatrist as suggested by Zara if that had been the case. You can only change a person if they themselves are able to see a problem within them. Here, this character thinks he is right in whatever he does, the brunt of which is sadly taken by the people closest to him. Anyways, very strong performances by both the actors, excited to see the next episode and how this story line is taken forward.
@samrahmumtaz9469

Hassan is a deeply toxic person and and I have mentioned this before. It’s not just because he had a difficult childhood. He acts like a typical South Asian husband who wants to dominate his wife and insists that everything should go his way. He believes like many in this culture that having a child will magically fix all the issues in their relationship. He behaves exactly like an abusive man who starts with physical violence and then uses emotional manipulation to keep his wife from leaving.

I think he has a serious mental health issue because usually when such patients do something wrong they always cry either to play the victim or because their brain isn't able to identify what has just happened. His reactions ever single time he does something wrong shows the degree of his madness

Jafaa:I love how through Hassan and Numair the makers have highlighted the role of men in a society and marriage. Both of them are struggling with their own weaknesses and insecurities (though very different and mysterious in case of Numair), but their reactions, sensitivities and morals are polar opposite to each other. Numair no matter how vulnerable or insecure he is, knows his boundaries and sanctity of a marriage (so far). However Hassan is ready to thrash everyone and everything which comes in his way and puts the blame on his childhood and anger issues. It really boils down to who you are as a person. Sadly in a patriarchal society we give so much power to men specially in these weak moments, their reactions can make or break the deal.

JAFA: I would like to point out an important issue about daadi's character. Daadi knew from long before that Hasan had anger issues and probably his anger issues caused some sort of harm to his mother. Even after knowing this fact how could she encourage Hassan to marry someone. She knew he had emotional, mental, behavioural issues and still thought it was right for Hassan to be in a relationship like marriage? Shouldn't we be talking about it that how important it is for the people around problematic personalities to be aware of their issues and encourage them to be healed at first? After all we only see daadi as hasans parent figure. It was her responsibility to make sure her grandson was mostly sane before arranging his marriage with an innocent person like zara/ any other girl.

Regarding Numair and Andaleeb relationship I see their relationship between two people who are friendly, enjoy each other's company, there is a lot of trust and care in that relationship but it lacks depth and wholesomeness because Numair is holding something back due to his issues. Also they are two people with completely different love languages but it somehow works for both of them. P.S Deebu is very cute but I want her to be more mature in this relationship and understand Numair's behavior which she is not paying attention to.

Numair's secret is definitely more puzzling than any Hollywood film 😂😂😂. Every prediction about him has turned out to be wrong. At first people said he is impotent and I believed that too. Then it shifted to him having fertility problems and now there is a new rumour that Andaleep might be dealing with some major health issues. Honestly we have no clue where their story is going. Numair has his own hidden truth but I’m starting to think Andaleep isn’t actually pregnant. It’s a big mystery and they’ve done an amazing job of keeping everyone guessing about what’s really going on between them.

@@samrahmumtaz9469 My prediction is that he has a chromosomal disorder with infertility (as he was reading genetic book). Andaleeb will get pregnant (miracle moment) because there is a BTS of Numair and Andaleeb having a baby shower and Danish Nawaz said in his vlog there is a baby in our serial so baby is definitely going to be there. I think there point of separation will be when Andaleeb will know about Numair's problem and she will be upset with him for not telling her the truth (I don't think Numair will accuse her of cheating because he now knows everything that happened that day and they better not ruin Numair's character after showing him such a green flag)

But based on how Numair is acting I can see him starting to doubt Andaleep. People also mentioned that in the last episode when Numair went to the auditorium to get Andaleep's bag Moiz was there too and said something that raised Numair's suspicions about Andaleep. Firstly this was a very interesting and thought provoking 'something haute' episode. Thank you Hasan and Aamna for a great discussion especially on Bismil and Jafaa. On Bismil i partly agree with Hasan - the flaws he pointed out. Yes some of them were, but not all he pointed were flaws. The ones which were definitely flaws were Rehaam's scenes where first she's in a car on the back seat and her driver is driving the vehicle, then when she leaves theres no driver. Next in her conversation with Martha, her asking Martha what was the reason Masooma resigned (firstly she didnt resign and secondly Rehaam knows the reason she was fired). So yes that was a big error! Other than these two scenes the other ones Hasan pointed out weren't technically flaws. Its his perspective of looking at it, or as if searching for something that isnt there, cuz like him we all know Bismil has always had issues with continuity and consistency. So its easy to look at it and determine it like flaws. Like one of the scenes he mentioned was why Martha entering and walking down the stairs to meet Rehaam was done in so much detail, while on the other hand not showing us Masooma fainting when the latter was more important. For me, i didnt find anything wrong in those scenes - Martha's scene coming down to meet Rehaam was detailed to create a form of thrill and make the scene more intense, because we know she was called by Rehaam for a very important meeting where from here on she would be spying on her boss (the one person TT trusts more than anyone in the office but has to unfortunately). So such a scene needed detailing and nuance. Where as Massoma's fainting scene wasnt shown, cuz they had already shown us her discussion she had with her mother earlier that she plans to mess with her health on purpose or maybe even pretend to be ill, and thus making TT come rushing to her side. So that was it, there was no reason to show her fainting. That was established already. Hence when TT gets a call about Masooma and he rushes out in front of Martha, it made sense. Because at that moment what was more important was to show Martha's curiosity, and relaying her doubts about the matter to Rehaam. Hence that scene was apt! Then he mentioned the scene where the doctor addressed Masooma as Mrs Siddiquie, and she answered "haan jee..". Again when you are going searching for flaws, youll find it everywhere, and thats what Hasan did and found flaws where there isnt, as there is another way he could have looked at it, or there is another explanation to it - the camera wasnt pointed directly facing the doctor, so theres no way we can know who he was talking to - they both were standing in the same direction the doctor was looking towards. He may have addressed Masooma's mother as Mrs Siddique (as doctors usually would talk or discuss matters with the wife of the patient first if she is present there) but here Masooma chose to respond instead, because like many responsible adult children do in such cases, they step in to respond for their mother who is in a very vulnerable and delicate situation to handle bad news of her husband herself (cuz the doctor clearly looked concerned). Hence, we cant for certain say that was an error by the makers or a flaw. That was unnecessary critiquing by Hasan. I definitely didnt see it like that. Bismil always has had issues like this and continues to do so, hence like Aamna clearly said thats why Bismil will never be known as one of the well crafted shows we have. But these last two episodes were very well done! The pacing, dialogues, performances all were so well done, that its easy to overlook a couple of flaws here and there. I started off first disliking this show initially but gradually started liking it a lot with each passing episode.

Hassan never even wished to change,he never wanted to change,he wants to be an obsessive controlling person,ek to bemari upar se seena zori, till his weakness wasn't exposed he was dictating Zara what to do,and even after ruining Zara he still says,"Koi mujhe alag na karay usse, meri koi galati nahi",if he loved her,he would do nothing but leave her for her good and safety,he would prioritize her over his needs but he still doesn't!And long story short!Even if he's a victim, even if he by mistake raises hand,if it's not his fault, I'll say that she should leave him ASAP!Call me insensitive or selfish or whatever you want, kisi ke pagalpan or janwar panay ko theek kerne ka ham larkiyon ne theka nahi liya huya!Agar tum pagal janwar ho,to jao ilaj kerwao ya na kerwao, I have nothing to do with you, I'll live my life in happiness and peace! First things first. The way Aamna said 'aaiyyay' to Juno and then later on when Juno stood up as if seeking her attention and the way Aamna responded to him......CUTENESS OVERLOADED. The bond between Juno and Aamna is adorable. My daughters love to see Juno whenever he blesses the screen with his royal presence. They gushed in adoration when Juno licked Aamna's hand. I am really looking forward to Aamna's interview with Mehreen Jabbar. My teenage years have been filled with memories of her dramas. She has always been my most favorite director. Needless to mention, I am a huge fan of her father Javed Jabbar, the level of his intellect and vision second to none. Back to Mehreen, I was in Grade 8 when her first telefilm aired 'Ab Tum Jaasakte Ho' starring my childhood favorite Sania Saeed, the amazing Khalda Riasat (turned out to be her last television appearance) and Humayun Saeed (I think it was his debut project). From there on, there was no looking back. Mehreen's stories always had an endearing element of relevance to them for me and my sister. Dhoop mein Sawan, Amma abba aur Ali, Faraar, Sanam Gazida, Putli Ghar, Laal baig, Kahanian series,, Chaal, Aur Zindagi Badalti Hai, Pehchan, Doraha, Vasl, Malaal, Daam, Aik Jhooti Love Story and now Nadaan (I know I am missing many dramas but these ones are my most favorite ones).....as I list down these stories, I am tempted to stop at each one and give an in-detailed analysis of each gem - ALL THESE STORIES were beautifully told, the themes so meaningful, the execution so subtle yet poignant, the production design so in sync with the demands of the plotline....that attention to detail, the subliminal social messaging that never felt preachy, the crisp flow of storytelling....man I can go on and on about how brilliant Mehreen is yet so humble and easygoing. My favorite collaborations of Mehreen have been with Sania Saeed and Nadia Jamil. In writers, I have cherished her associations with Azra Babar (an extremely underrated writer) and Umera Ahmed (all 4 of their mutual projects have been absolute masterpieces) the most. I want to extend a special thank-you to Aamna for interviewing her and seriously can't wait for the interview to air.

I love how practical the portrayal of dv was in Jafa, because majority of women don't take stand for themselves when it happens to them for the first time. They don't even tell their parents until they're hit for second or even third time due to societal pressure which results in this. And even if Zara wouldn't have slapped him back he would have crossed the limits one day. And she didn't retaliate the very first time she was hit which is exactly what most women do which results in such horrific incidents. So i love how realistic the whole situation was

Jafaa: This show is handling the untenable situation that is Zara & Hasan's relationship very well. Closing the door and leaving it to the viewer's imagination re: the extent of violence, was a classic touch. As all of you also pointed out, I wish these scenes came with a trigger warning, producers please take note. Zara and people who have been victims of DV need to learn not to provoke the abuser, in short, Ladies and gents, never poke the bear. Life is a gift and we need to develop the EQ to internalize this fact and act accordingly. Excellent work by Mohib as Hasan, can't be easy for someone who never advocated for toxic masculinity as far as I can tell from his off-screen presence. Mawra was brilliant, as was the dadi, director, Danish sahab, big salute to you for creating impactful & highly tense moments. 👏

jafaa: i think numair doesnt want kids atm. he is taking contraceptives hence the visit to the dr and taking of tablets. thats why he is surprised in the next ep's promo when debu says she is expecting. also hassan has no redemption in my opinion. he can become better but in no way should zara stay with him.. whether he goes for therapy or not like aamna said 'hassan fiz hosakta hai lekin relationship fix nahi ho sakti' but i disagree when she said he is not toxic.. he is i think

I strongly agree with Amna here when she is talking about Hassan being non toxic as I think, we need to give a window to him for redemption. Not giving him that redemption will be unfair to the writing of his character and society at large too. It is very important to understand that as Amna also says that even if he has committed this heinous act, the reasons for it to have be digged deep into!

Jafaa: it is nearly impossible to convince a grown up man or woman to seek psychiatric help or to be consistent. Hassan may get treatment but he may not improve. He is dangerous to not just Zara but any man or woman who are around him. He chooses to hurt people who he disagrees with because he doesn't see others as human.

Amna there are always some reasons why any man is abusive towards his wife/family. Be it enabling mothers, grandmothers, traumatic childhood, experiencing their fathers being abusive etc. If you start giving redemption to people like hassan for having past trauma, you'll have to give it to 90% abusive men . There is always a limit past which there is no chance to give any sort of leverage to that person. And as in Zara's case, this was it. As hassan said, it would've been okay if this redemption was given to him when he for the first time raised his hand on zara accidentally. Not to forget that he was given the chance to go therapy but continuously lied about it. If he was not toxic and only abusive, he would've delt with the therapy wali baat maturely.

Every person who abuses, is not normal. But it doesn't mean his acts can be justified just because he's not normal. Hassan despite being mentally ill, must be held accountable. Because he somehow acknowledges that he has anger issues, so he can't be called insane and given more chances.

Nadaan: Enjoying the pace, understated acting and the powerful narrative. Ahmed packs a punch as the conflicted and righteous policeman. Ramsha, Kashif and the peer person..very good performances. Giving me Breaking News vibes with the political angle. He needs to be in jail along with medical help! I understand aamnas pov. Even I want to watch how hassan will be dealt with. Which they should doo! Provide a real ending to how hassan like ppl should be treated. However zara should part ways and start her new life! I have high expectations they will do this. In Nadan Topic is very good & 2nd episode director created a chemistry between Ahmed & Ramsha with respectfully & sincerely. That's called a romantic scene love at first sight scene directed very well. Hasib Hasan should be learn from their, How to direct a love & romantic scene with respect. In Jafa, Mawra represent a real shadow on behalf whole married Lady who suffers in their married life. This is the real story of 90% married woman. Mawra nails her character. Love, respect, tehjib, culture, society, fake rules many more things are shown.

JAFAA : There's no scope for redemption for Hasan now.. in addition to violence and abuse in this episode, his major concern is that she shouldn't leave him, "bass usse mujhse alag na kare". He doesn't even care to know the extent of the injuries he inflicted upon her, let alone admit his psychological issue. Agreed, the man could control his anger earlier that's where a scope of redemption existed.

I agree with Amna. Whether these abusers are in jail or in their homes, they are part of our society. We cannot just say we are done with them. Where will they go? Rot in a prison or be locked up in a dark room? We must find a bette solution. True they should have been treated early or but, even after they have reached the breaking point, as a society we must find a place for them. And try to rehabilitate them. As Amna said, there is a need to identify and treat mental issues. We reach these extreme situations because we either ignore psychological problems or are in denial. Hassan Chaudhry we need to be compassionate in addressing these issues not just give up on them. Most often these individuals do not understand what they are doing . It is sad that that in our part of the world there is no empathy for people who are in the spectrum of mental illness.
