Is Nelson Bros. Reserve Bourbon Better than Belle Meade Reserve 108.3? 

Great video guys. Always been curious to see how they both differ. I’ve never had any of the two, and I was wondering which one to get. I’ll guess I’ll get both and see. Thanks

I was in Nashville this past Dec. I visited the Nelson Green Brier Distillery. I was told at a tasting they had the Belle Meade Reserve will only be sold in Tennesee. Both are great Bourbons.

Both great, albeit different, whiskeys and a great comparison that’s really spot on. Excellent video and that setting is gorgeous!

At Total Wine, in New Jersey $79.99. I always skipped it because of the price.

I also hear the Nelson Bros. Classic is a really good pour.

I've been waiting for this since the announcement of the Nelson bros line, thank you! My wife and I went to their distillery and did a tour for our honeymoon back in October 2020 and loved it. They are great out there!

I hear that it's not discontinued, but will only be available in Tennessee.

I like Belle Meade. Nelson Brothers is OK. Will be picking up a botyle or 2 of Belle Meade

I went to Nelson’s this past Sunday that had plenty of belle meade and didn’t mention a thing about it going away.

I appreciate our shared love for bourbon. I most admire your free spirit lifestyle. The traveling and enjoying life is something I strive for. Good for you guys! You only live once. I’ve been stocking up on Belle Meade as well. I’m sad to see it go. It’s understandable though. Sourcing older bourbon is becoming an issue and financially prohibitive.

Belle Meade Reserve was the first bourbon that made me go “WOW!” when i got into whiskey. Luckily i got a few bottles and it collects dust on the shelves here. I even scored a store pick for my second bottle which was FANTASTIC!

Every once in a while I will come across one of the Belle Meades that where released at cask strength and the proof hand written on label. Love the MGP sourced bourbon. A real treat.

I'm with you guys, I purchased my first bottle from the plantation, it won't be replaced lol... So I'm purchasing what I can till no more... Btw great videos, and a few weeks ago you were in Chicago, I'm original to Chicago and lived in direct line with planes right overhead. You get used to it.. This is my go to bourbon when I smoke a cigar. Great pairing.

Oh man - I just learned from your video that they’re discontinuing this Belle Meade Reserve! I absolutely love this. What a bummer. I’ve only got one bottle left. I did however, just happen to get some Nelson Bros., so we’ll see.

I remember Julie nailing that on a 5 Sip Friday. I also remember seeing a guy in a van trying Belle Meade. That must have been an early episode. I had bought a bottle and was looking for a review. Good stuff. At least it wasn't an expression from New Riff that would have had Julie guessing..

Belle Meade Reserve was the first bourbon I chased based on your recommendation. I will be looking for BMR to holdover until i can visit their distillery.

My happiest travel story of late is getting a *very generous* pour of Belle Meade Reserve in the Nashville airport. It was love at first taste! But dang, I saw a bottle in my Total Wine last week and didn't buy it. I didn't know it was going away!

As always, great video!! Fan content, amazing hosts, and a beautiful scenery! As for BMR, it is def a go-to bottle for me. I have only had 3 bottles of it, but all 3 are delicious cherry cinnamon bombs with vanilla icing and spice. I haven’t seen the new Nelson bottle yet (at least not the higher proof offering that competes proof-wise with BMR). I can still find it on the shelf around me… but it has jumped up in price to over 72 bucks… i do have a backup, but its hard to find an extra $150 to have two more backups hahaha.

Belle meade reserve has been one of my personal favourites i will definitely miss it but not anytime soon i stock piled a few bottles soon as i heard it was becoming a distillery only release. Also don't sleep on the belle meade sour mash . Not as good as the reserve but definitely a very good lower proof bourbon. A liquor store by me had it on sale for $30.00 so i stock pile 4 of those as well.

It truly is a shame they're discontinuing the Belle Meade line. Although the reserve i heard will now be distillery only so it's not going to be gone- gone. I picked up the Nelson bros. today and i agree it's real different and in no way should be considered as Belle Meade's replacement but it is nice and had some unique notes, at least on the nose. I'm only on the neck pour of mine but i gotta like a mesquite bbq note! I've heard other people say they picked up on the note on other things but this was my first time. Took me a minute to get it. Love the view behind you guys. Big fan

With so many things to try, I just never got around to buying a Belle Meade Reserve even though I've seen it a lot. It was always priced slightly higher than 1920 or Rare Breed, so I never pulled the trigger on it. Maybe I'll grab one now if I see it.

Completely agree with this. Did a side by side on the 2. Gave the nose and finish to Belle Meade. Palette went to Nelson Bros. Both really good. Coin toss for me.

I saw a Belle Meade yesterday not sure if they make different bourbons or if it was named Reserve, but anyway I considered buying because I recalled you guys mentioning it. Anyway I had 60 bucks on a gift card and bought a bottle of Buffalo Trace and Wild Turkey 101 for 58 bucks. Maybe I should could back and pick up the Belle Meade on my own dime. Cheers!

OMG! I didn’t know they were discontinuing it, it’s my favorite. I’m grabbing all I can before it’s gone. I always considered it the perfect sleeper, maybe it didn’t sell enough?

Distillery says that Belle Meade Reserve will still be available in Tennessee. Nelson Bros products will be National. Cheers 🥃

Thankfully living in Tennessee I hope to be able to still get the BM reserve (and for what it's worth their 90proof classic is also delicious) for a long time. I'll probably grab one of the NB bottles one of these days but as long as I still find the BM on the shelf I'll always grab those first. You weren't kidding the other day that this comparison was coming right around the corner.
