Someone on another Linux channel said to continue using it would be a security risk. I didn't want to name the person in my video. You're probably correct about the logo for new versions, although Neofetch hasn't had an update in almost 4 years. Bash had an update this year, so I don't think Neofetch is going to break. Some repositories might take it down which means you won't be able to download on a new install. I'm still using it, btw.

@@linuxmench2118 Yeah. I was speaking more theoretically about changes to Bash breaking Neofetch, but I doubt that it will ever break it. It would take some significant changes to the scripting language and would have to break backwards compatibility. It could happen, but I doubt it. I'm on Void Linux right now, and their repository doesn't have fastfetch, but I used the Nix package manager to install it and that's what I'm using now. I wasn't so concerned about security. I just like having things up to date when I can. :)

I agree with your points, they're all valid. I didn't know you could use the Nix package manager in Void, interesting. Since I'm on Arch, I have Fastfetch installed, but I'm still using Neofetch.

@@linuxmench2118 You can use it in just about any distribution. Nix is available in the Void repos. :)

Yes, I had that in the back of my mine, though I didn't mention it in the video. I wasn't planning to go into Awesome WM because I intended it to be a shorter video; however, I had to see if it would detect it correctly. Thanks for the info.

Yes, Fastfetch is great. Too bad it's not available in the Debian repository or as a Flatpak. I never heard of Nitch. I looked and it's in the Arch repository; last update was 2022, which doesn't necessarily matter.

Sorry, didn't say I'm on Arch but this will be my life as it's so light and with my old HW. Altho I'm been saving up to one waaaay better.

I'm on Arch too and yes it's light. I really do like Fastfetch and it would be great if it was in all the repositories, like noefetch.

Yes, Fastfetch is in the official Arch repository. I have it installed. People running Debian have to install it from source because it's not in the Debian repository or available as a Flatpak.
