I agree with both of you. I always said that if I ever got married it would only be the groom, me, the minister, and the two witnesses. The wedding vows and ceremony for me are a very private moment. Like you, I always said that the marriage ceremony was private with a big celebration at a later date.
I watched your video last night. I expected you two were getting married at some point this year, and you did have a good time. Yesterday was the wife and my 45th wedding anniversary, and we didn't want a large wedding either. It still worked out for us. My parents weren't there, as it would have been a long drive for them. Many people will give advice, but you two will find your own path. Congratulations!!!

I'm so happy for the 2 of you. I married my son and his fiancé in my living room, and it was just the 3 of us. And that's just the way they wanted it. They took the $100,000 that they saved and totally remodeled their home. I think that made a lot of sense.

Congratulations!! It is a wonderful feeling when, as you say, you made it legit! My husband and I dated, lived our life together in everyway for 9 yrs before we got married. We didn't feel like we needed that paper because we loved each other with all our hearts. Although we finally did get that paper to make it legit this August we will be married 36yrs. Our motto was always Live, Love, Laugh and never go to bed mad, Lol. We always talked it out, lots of give and take. It was never my way or the highway. And married at 3 months. I had to wait till I was 18. We have had our good times and hard times. And we made it through everything together. We are now empty nesters. And retired! My husband and I did not want a big wedding! We were both 62 at the time. So we did it our way just the two of us! We went to one of our favorite places Charleston , Sc. We hired a mobile service to come out to a park and said our vows by a gazebo. Then we took a carriage ride and had a great supper. Congratulations and I hope you have a long life together.

Congrats you two! I caught the hints and am so glad you did what was right for you - and enjoyed a helluva time celebrating after! Was SO envious of all the seafood you got to eat! Yum! More people should marry on a shoestring budget and invest their savings in land or a home instead of spending it on a big wedding. We did something similar to y’all with a Justice of the Peace at my cabin and then had 12 friends over to celebrate. Spent all of about $800 and it will be 10 years for us in October. You will blessed with many, many years of happiness for doing things your way!
I'm happy for y'all! If I can give y'all one piece of advice, never go to bed mad at each other always talk it out before going to sleep it's cliche but it's honestly one of the biggest reasons our relationship /marriage has lasted as long as it has.
