I have a California and use it as my daily driver. I drive little over two miles to work and am lucky if I get 20 mpg for those little trips. Longer trips can get much closer and sometimes over 40 mpg. Mine’s a 2 litre 150hp auto. You didn’t mention if yours is a manual or auto when talking about your average mpg. I’m sure the back of my van has no carpet so dog hairs wouldn’t stick to anything. Also the manual says my van is 1.95 metres tall. It is not lowered. I have been under a 2 metre height barrier but the ground was super level and I had a pair of eyes outside the van checking. I held my breath all the way under! Great video and good to see you enjoy your van as much as I enjoy mine.
Thanks so much for sharing. It’s great to hear other people’s experiences with their vans. Sorry we should have mentioned that, our van is a manual. There is always that doubt when it comes to height barriers isn’t there! 😂 We did actually sneak under a 2m height barrier on the Isle of Skye once, but it was a bit too close for comfort 😂 Thanks for watching 😊
Thanks for the video. We have a van on order that will be our only vehicle. Really pleased to hear Lou’s comments as I’m going to be going from driving a mini. 😊
Glad you found the video helpful😊 Yep, I was nervous about it, but I soon realised there was nothing to worry about once I’d driven the van a couple of times. I’m sure you’ll be fine too😊 Exciting news about your van btw! 🎉 Is it a camper?
@@VanVibesandSibes we have a Cali on order for just after Gareth retires. It’s going to be our only vehicle. Really excited to be able to use it for planned breaks, spontaneous stop overs and as a day van😁
Some good info there. I’ve been using my T5.1 camper as my daily for the last couple of years. Love driving it, and as you said I also prefer the higher seating position as it feels safer. Having a diesel heater fitted in the current weather conditions is also ideal, as I press the heater on from in the house when I get up so it’s nice and warm when I get in to drive to work 😀
Hi 👋🏼 Thank you 😊 They make great daily drivers don’t they! I (Lou) love driving ours to work and I hate driving so it must be good😂 Great idea using the diesel heater to preheat the van. That’s a definite advantage of driving a camper! Thanks for watching 😊
I agree with everything you've said. I've just gone from a 5.1 to a LWB Crafter and although that's a lot bigger (and I still use it as a daily) it just takes a little thinking about parking.
Thank you 😊 That’s awesome! It’s great to hear your experiences of using a bigger van as a daily driver. How are you finding the change? Bet you have so much space now!
As a van it drives probably better than the Transporter (Electric power steering as opposed to the hydraulic). The space we will have when it's finished will be amazing. We are planning on having 4 x beds a wet room and a kitchen. But obviously there is a huge cost implication for that. Which was a huge shock for me, not sure why though.
Sounds like your van will be amazing once it’s all sorted! Yes unfortunately nothing comes cheap these days does it.😞 Wishing you many awesome adventures once the van is finished 😊 Thanks for watching👍🏻
Hi👋🏼 Yes the sliding seat is standard on this particular conversion. It’s the Verso conversion by New Wave Custom Conversions. They use the same seat as you find in the VW California. Thanks for watching 😊
