Welcome to Van Vibes & Sibes. We are Rich & Lou, a couple from Leicestershire UK who love to explore in our VW T6.1 campervan. With our two Huskies Dallas & Sabre, we share our campervan adventures and experiences. We review campsites, throw in the the odd kit video, and share any tips and tricks that we learn along the way.
As kids we both loved our family campervan & caravan holidays, so it seemed inevitable that we would end up getting our own van. It really is the best thing we’ve ever done!
We both work full time, so we just to try get away when we can. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and we probably talk about food and beer too much, but we always try to have a good time whenever we’re out in the van.
If you enjoy this kind of content, don’t forgot to like and subscribe and hit that bell so that you don’t miss any future videos from us. If you have any questions or just want to say hi, feel free to leave us a comment. We do our best to reply to all of them.
Strange, I thought I’d seen you guys from the other side of the field on Sunday around the show and shine but no dogs, so passed it off that it probably wasn’t. Perhaps it was you after all 😂😂
🤣🤣 It was probably us you saw😂 If people recognise us, it’s usually because of the dogs! 😂 They spent the weekend with Lou’s Mum and Dad as they wouldn’t have settled at the festival with so many people around. They most likely consumed their body weight in biscuits, as Lou’s Mum spoils them 😂
Great video. This is one on my list now, particularly since the bar was showing the football, all of which I missed because the wi-fi at my campsite in Dorset was useless.
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed the video. Oh no, sorry to hear you missed the football. We enjoyed the Durdle Door site. Would definitely recommend the pitches we stayed on 👍🏻
Was there last week, the walk from Lulworth cove to durdle door is about a 1.2 mile up a stone lengthy hill and gravel the other side to durdle door, if you have difficulty walking especially uphill, you will struggle.
Yes 100% it’s not for everyone. We did go to Lulworth cove, but we took the van down as we knew our almost 13 year old dog would really struggle on the way back. Hope you had a good time when you were there. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Thanks guys this was a superb watch,I have now subscribed to your Channel, I am 67 soon I'm looking forward to buying my first Volkswagen camper van ...so this was a great vid👌🏽👏🏽💛🙏🏽😊
Lovely video, really enjoyed it. You are great dog parents in my eyes. We have a very hairy dog and he is our top consideration while travelling and keeping him comfy and happy. Great info on the beers and your choices.Pasta looked tasty too😀Looking forward to the next one 😀😀
Thank you :) Glad you enjoyed the video. That’s such a lovely comment! We always do our best to keep them safe and happy. Sounds like you are also a great dog parent🫶 We love talking about beer 😂 Stay tuned as there will be more parts to this trip coming soon. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
Looks beautiful there. Loved the filming at sea level while you were swimming, gives it lovey perspective. The drone shots were beautiful. I am always grateful for some ideas for meals and the pasta salad looked delicious! I have the same issue with my French Bulldog when it comes to summer temperatures. He is quite heat intolerant so we are restricted to what we can do during the hotter weather. looking forward to the next upload :-)
It’s a lovely stretch of coastline for sure and the huge pitch was great for the dogs! Glad you enjoyed the swimming shots and the drone footage. We really enjoyed getting those- although the sea was a bit fresh 🥶🤣 The pasta salad is a nice easy meal to do in the van, and you could easily change it up and add different ingredients to make it different every time. Aww yes the shorter nosed breeds have a tough time in the summer don’t they bless them. It can be frustrating when we have to stay at the van in the shade, but its all part of being a good dog parent isn’t it. We always try to keep Dallas and Sabre out of the really hot weather if we can. Thanks so much for watching, there will be more videos to come :)
Thanks Gary. We really enjoyed Dorset, it was a stunning bit of coastline. We’ll definitely go back there at some point so we’ll bear that campsite in mind. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
@VanVibesandSibes the campsite is highlands end amazing views pub on site carvery on Sunday and the facilities are great and if you are in to your tv serese broad church was filmed there 😀
Hi when you did the nc500 were did you start from and were did you end and how did it take you to do we are new to camping we have just borought Vw transporter t6.1 and we want to do the nc500 next year please can you help many thanks
Hi 👋🏼 The official NC500 route starts and ends in Inverness. We started at Beauly Holiday park just West of inverness, and finished in Inverness itself. We also did a couple of detours, as we went on to Skye, and after we finished the official route, we went over to Glenfinnan viaduct as well. It took us two weeks in total which includes getting up there from Leicestershire and getting back down again. It’s up to you really on how long you want to spend on the route. You could drive round it in as little as a couple of days, but there’s no way you can see everything you’ll want to see if you do that. Personally I would allow at least 10 days, so that you can really enjoy the experience and not feel too rushed. If you watch the rest of our NC500 videos, you’ll see how much we crammed in lol. Congrats on the new van! We hope you have lots of amazing adventures!
Hi👋🏼 Yes the awning is designed to be free standing so that you can drive away in your van and leave the awning in situ. Weirdly though, some campsites have rules stating that drive away awnings must stay connected to your van at all times. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s worth double checking when you book campsites that they don’t have a rule like this. If they don’t, you should be ok to leave the awning disconnected from the van👍🏻
Hi just found your channel and thus the greenhills holiday park will be ideal for our first trip in our new transporter T6 T32 watched a few other videos and av come to the assumption that most cook outside under the awning, my van came with same type of awning as yours so looks simple to erect but does the job to keep the rain off. Look forward to watching your other ventures, and would like to ask your recommendations for best cooking equipment to buy. Regrards John and mandy
Hi, congratulations on your new transporter! Exciting times ahead! We cook both outdoors and indoors to be honest. It depends what we’re cooking. If it’s something that we think will stink the van out, we’ll cook outside. If it’s something like heating a couple of crumpets, we’ll cook inside. Also depends a bit on the weather too 😂 We love our wind out awning. It’s great for giving a bit of shelter to cook under and a dry area to stand when you get in and out of the van. For cooking equipment, we don’t think you can go far wrong with Cadac products. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻
Sorry, completely missed this comment 🤦🏻♀️ Looking on the website you can definitely book up until the start of January so I assume it’s open all year 👍🏻
I would say it is a little bit tight in places on the approach. Not a problem for us in our little van, but could possibly be tight for an 8ft wide caravan. If you think you can make it work though, it’s definitely worth a visit. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
Comfort is definitely an issue with pop tops in general. You’re on a solid bed base with a very thin mattress. There is no give or spring in it. No matter what you put in it will not be comfortable. The thicker pop top gives a thicker mattress which will take froli springs. I fear Duvall’s will not solve your issue, improve it yes, but solve it no! I’m sure you’ll find your way through it, good luck and enjoy.
Yes unfortunately it’s the nature of the beast especially when you’ve got a pop top like ours. We could have had a pop top with the frolli springs, but as we’re not the smallest people, we went for the one which would tolerate more weight. As it was a slimline pop top, the frolli springs weren’t an option. We got a panda mattress topper in the end and the comfort levels are a lot better now😊 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
The firepit is called a WildGrill. It dismantles and packs down flat so it’s ideal for our small van. It also has bottle openers on it which we think is a cool feature. Having lived with it for a while though, we have found that it is a bit of a faff to put together once it’s been used a few times. The heat has warped the metal so it doesn’t go together as easily as it once did. It also spits ash and embers onto the grass so rich had to make a metal tray for it to sit on. Just thought we’d tell you the good and bad points before you buy one 👍🏻
Great candid chat, you pretty much reaffirmed my thoughts pre-campervan aquisition. We are going for an auto, and we're going to look VERY carefully at options for sleeping at the top. I sleep on my side, so I need more support, or i'll wake up with a dead shoulder! :P
I’m not sure on this. I’ve recently been looking at the reusable pods but not tried one. I would think if they work in a Nespresso machine then they would work fine in the Nano, I am not sure though. Sorry I can’t be more help.
What a lovely part 2 so natural and just being yourselves which i like very much.Your two dogs are lovely also we are going to this site in two weeks time which we have been on quite a few times before.Keep up the nice vlogs and take care looking forward to your next one
Thank you 😊 We agreed pretty quickly that we just wanted to be ourselves and keep the vlogs as natural as possible. It’s lovely that you’ve picked up on that. We hope you have the best time when you go back to the site! We really enjoyed it there and it’s great for exploring Whitby. Thanks for watching and thanks for the lovely comment as well👍🏻
Aaahhh. Brought back happy memories. Bothams sets the bar soooo very high for all baked goods 😊. Fish and chips always taste better outside (as long as there are no marauding seagulls). Thanks for sharing 👍
They did have some lovely stuff in Bothams! It was also ridiculously reasonably priced for good quality food as well. Can’t beat fish and chips by the seaside can you! Thanks for your continued support 😊👍🏻
Haha they loved having a dig around looking for fossils 😂 Bothams is great, excellent quality food at a reasonable price. Thanks for your continued support 😊👍🏻
Hi both have to say really enjoy your vlogs, so natural and you go to so many places that I love to go to - keep those vlogs coming, I have a few vlogs on my VERY small channel, one from Whitby not sure if you got chance to try the Humble Pie and Mash Cafe in Whitby
Thank you so much, that’s a lovely comment! We said from the start that we just wanted to be ourselves on the videos 😊 We will have to check out your Whitby vlog as we didn’t get chance to visit humble pie and mash. We use DJI wireless mics. It’s great to hear that you think the sound quality is good 👍🏻 Thanks for watching 😊👍🏻
Hiya, we got them from Amazon, link below. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B098JB9RRK?ref=cm_sw_r_cso_wa_apin_dp_Z78DH78BAWASQ7D88GC5_1&ref_=cm_sw_r_cso_wa_apin_dp_Z78DH78BAWASQ7D88GC5_1&starsLeft=1&skipTwisterOG=1
good review. i like the inclusion of the cleaning part, you don't see that in most reviews. I'd just jump straight to Chapter 5 - that's extracting with ground coffee. maybe gives useful titles to your chapters? are they inspired by thing 1 and thing 2 😉?
Just came across your channel and just subscribed, really enjoyed this video, love Whitby, never stayed anywhere in our campervan though, that will change this year 🙂 Love your 2 dogs, just gorgeous, take care Trev Debz and Tyler x x
Hello and welcome! 👋🏼 Thank you, we’re glad to hear you enjoyed the video😊 Yes you definitely need to go to Whitby in your van! It’s such a great place isn’t it! Aww thank you, we love them to bits, apart from the fact that their hair gets everywhere! 😂 Thanks so much for watching and subscribing, we really appreciate it 😊
