That was different and the hate was about taking a finals team and just adding a top 3 player in the league to the team , those rings still do not count as much as the last one they got or pre KD. Plus on The other side was LeBron and there is so many in the media that will say anything to talk him up. Also , the media needs to stop trying to claim the next team to make a run so so much , it makes anything short feel like a let down in the end and puts more pressure on the players to ring chase.

@@WhyYouMadd40 You forgot that Denver were missing either Jamal Murray or MPJ for their 2021 and 2022 playoff runs. 2023 was the first time they all got to stay healthy and use their playoff experience and hunger to make the dream happen. And Jokic was the only All-Star on that team and posted historic stats throughout that postseason. It validated his 2 MVPs and deservedly put him in best player in the world talks, just like Giannis did in 2021 to validate his 2 MVPs. I agree media and some fans anoint these dudes too quickly. @@Ackshuallymmm it wasn't due to parity. The league had major financial woes that stemmed well beyond parity on top of the drastic change of the racial makeup in NBA. Games weren't even live then & the league also had a recreational drug problem (everyone knew it...we're talking about the 70s lol). The game was also slower & more half court based in the 70s, which was a drastic shift from the 60s.
@stevanchez1122
@stevanchez1122 Месяц назад
Not really. 5 teams (Celtics, Lakers, Warriors, Hawks, and 76ers) made the Finals in the 1960s and 2 (Celtics and 76ers) won. But there was an *average* of only 10 teams in the 60s. So, *half the league* made the Finals and 20% was able to win one. In the 80s, 5 teams (Laker, Celtics, Rockets, 76ers, and Pistons) made the Finals and 4 teams (all but the Rockets) won one. But there were *23 teams* at that time. So, you're talking about a *WAY* smaller piece of the pie actually being in contention over that stretch.

Parity is a great thing for the NBA. The NHL has had some good parity for awhile now and it makes it exciting for teams like the 2014 LA Kings which made an insane playoff run to win the Cup while in one series being down 3 games to none. If the NBA ratings are currently down, its just because there are a lot of options out there. This is a particular great time of year for tennis. Arguably the greatest match in the last 25 years happened 19 years ago yesterday between Nadal and Guillermo Coria. This is my favorite time of year as a sports fan, because I'm switching between hockey, basketball, and tennis with hardly a dull moment.

So when you have a lot of different teams there harder to hate and when you have one team winning everything they can get behind the story of someone taking them out. Such as the golden state era. Or the LeBron era. Jordan era etc. the NBA needs somebody to hate and somebody that can eventually take them down or die trying. The NBA is more about the story

Yes, real organic parity is great for any sport. It promotes competitive spirit and allows for every team to believe that they have a chance…! But orchestrated parity is easily achieved in a league that features so many talented players. The problem is that it doesn’t change the amount of superstars that would be necessary for the parity to be really believable & organically accepted…! The situation we have now is one where we have teams like Milwaukee with “ Superstars “ who are lacking major abilities & in turn have limitations & need more help as opposed to stars of the past…! Which only lends merit to the idea that the league is rigging games and outcomes of “ Championships “ & of course Awards…!!!!!
@tonysobon4669

So the issue now is player movement , to many of the best players are changing teams to much. because of this it makes it really hard to have rival teams and to me that has already made the regular season way less fun. Players with load managing points out a huge flaw they need to fix as well since it makes it feel like the players care less and makes it just seem like the games matter less . I get it seems off topic but I think those 2 issues need to be changed before you can discuss other things , with this being one of them.

Chris made a great point point about people being racist towards basketball in the 70s . That what the problem is now that they are racist towards the NBA . They see all tgese dominant black people making alk this money just to play basketball and the very rarely see any good white players out there and it makes them sick. That's why tge NFL ratings is are so dominant because they have white people that can compete with black players on the field

THIS! and for them at least the majority of quarterbacks are white, players wear helmets so during play the angst about black and brown ppl not as resonate, and not a slew of guaranteed contracts for the Antonio brown types that we KNOW turns the majority off

Its good if the quality is good. I dont think the majority of the playoff games are high quality. The Knicks and Pacers series is the embodiment of what im talking about. Good games, but definitely not high level teams.

Of course its good for the league, think about the other fan bases they deserve to see their team win. They're spending their hard earned money on tickets and memorabilia like everyone else

@@Lucky-gk7ez how? clown take...TOO many options fir entertainment modern times. And FANS run the product viewership wise obviously...not saying EVERYONE is like me, but if God Kyrie and Boston were eliminated early I wouldn't even watch. Heat fans barley show up in arena for playoff games now so do you think they are tuning any as much right now? Just binge on some documentaries and sit down somewhere HAPPILY! it is GREAT that Nuggs may get ousted and be one hit wonders like my hometown Milwaukee 💪🏿☘☘☘
