Not sure how the Tonda Pf is a failure if Parmigiani Fleurier’s Tonda Pf line is literally on fire, they are massively increasing production and still can not follow the demand. Comparing it to the Royal Oak is comparing 2 opposites of the spectrum. Both are great offerings, the RO is all about marking the presence with the shapes and the reflections of the bracelet, whereas the Tonda Pf is subdued and understated . Tastes differ, personally I wouldn’t mind owning both. Maybe one day.
I actually really like the PF new design language. and I hear you what you mean about the bracelet gaps. but no watch is ideal from what I have come learn in this hobby
More power to you, it's a nice design! As I tried to emphasise in the review, this is just down to my personal taste, and I do get the appeal of the Tonda PF collection.
This is a beautiful everyday watch which goes well with casual and formal atire while achieving the goal of not turning heads. Which is personally love, it is luxury for a person who wishes to enjoy luxury without showing it.
I am a big fan of Parmigiani’s prior design language. Not only were the dials artistic, the case and lugs were spectacular, differentiated and elegant. I mean, just look at the lugs of the prior watches. With the new watches, they certainly retain the quality and ooze great craftsmanship from the movement to the case details. However, while taking an under the radar approach allowing parmigiani to access a broader market, they seem to have lost much of the uniqueness that set them apart. No doubt this is a real balancing act. My one request which I believe would go far bringing back some of the uniqueness is to take the existing case and allow for a leather strap but one that goes all the way to the case allowing for the lugs to stand out as they did in prior generations. I wish them the best of luck. I still collect their prior design ethos pieces.
Your comments got me confused and hesitant about the watch, while i definitely see its unique elements of design i also see the overly empty dial which i sometimes see very elegant and other times boring , wish the dial had a bigger pattern guilloche to fill the gap.
It just doesn't do it for me. Too stark and reserved design for my tastes. I'd take a Moser Streamliner line over it every time. Now that watch looks iconic from its inception. You ain't mistaking the Streamliner for anything else. This however, just lacks character comparatively.
I totally agree with you about how too empty the dial is. Wish the index was much more complicated or sophisticated than the current chunk of metal. If i had the money, i would go for Czapek antartique or pay some more for the new reveleation.
Parmigiani is such a haphazardly "throw something and see what sticks brand"... as independent and watchmaker credibility wise, Michael Parmigiani is up there with the likes of FPJ, Kari etc being the personal watchmaker of the Sandoz foundation ... but the watches bearing his name is at best the "TAG of independent watchmaking"
It looks like this is no longer the case, they are harmonizing the designs and focusing on their identity, recently Tonda GT was replaced by Tonda Pf Sport.
Have you tried it on your wrist ? I love the VC Overseas. On my wrist though the Tonda Pf looks way better. Both are great watches, my favorite is the Tonda Pf Micro Rotor in Platinum. Doesn’t look great on Video but in real life is unbelievably gorgeous ❤
@@brankow434 yes I have tried on a few and I’m not a big fan….specially the bracelet feels cheap. Not comparable to an Overseas at all. Overseas is probably the best sport watch out there….great specs, comfortable, durable, beautiful and easy to change to different straps (strap monster)
Oh no PF beats the VC hands down, personally turned down the VC blueface in 2022 but its personal taste and the VC was just to meh the PF on the otherhand really is a statement piece without the noise:)
