SpongeBob SquarePants has been airing on Nickelodeon since 1999 and has had your favorite Bikini Bottom citizens a part of the main cast from the beginning. Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy and our favorite starfish, Patrick Star. However, is it possible that Patrick has actually been a psychopath this whole time? Justin and Channel Frederator are tackling this subject on this episode of Cartoon Conspiracy!

They've taken the Comedy too far IMO. It's not funny anymore or ever was to have him be in situations that's just gross.

To be fair.. Patrick is smarter than he lets... He went to high school and obviously graduated because he never said anything about dropping out, he even went to college and possibly graduated due to him never saying that he left at any point. Than in one of the newer episodes we see patrick use extremely advanced levels of math to prove that sandwiches are the answer to everything. Within that same episode we see he knew how to break himself out of prison easily, something plankton even struggled with. Then there is the time in earlier episodes where he mentions having a sister but totally forgets and says he doesn't, only for his sister to be introduced later on and patrick mention that either he is a step child or adopted. There are many episodes you can use to prove he is both a psychopath but also highly intelligent

In episodes like "Hall Monitor" I get the feeling that Spongebob is the dumb one and Patrick knows it and is just taking advantage of that fact to mess with him. Other examples where Patrick gives gullible Spongebob blatant misinformation are Sailor Mouth, Something Smells, and Once Bitten. I mean, if this is deliberate (And it seems very plausible) then he is MUCH worse than Squidward, who sometimes tries to trick or scare Spongebob, but never with the intent to psychologically traumatize him (and Squidward purportedly hates Spongebob). And although this isn't really an example of manipulation, Patrick is a pretty big jerk in Driven To Tears.

My only issue here is that the DSM-5 now has grouped psychopaths and sociopaths into one disorder called Anti-Social Personality Disorder. It's the most recent terminology. No hate, just informing.

Phoenix I'd honestly say Patrick seems more borderline by most of these examples he uses, especially the first one. chasing after SpongeBob seems to come from a fear of abandonment. Showing sadness and anger are feelings. the two disorders are very similar and even professionals have a hard time distinguishing them. BPD symptoms can include reckless behaviors, changing emotional states, typically within seconds (the Valentine episode shows this with him being angry, then over it then angry again or the sadness to anger when SpongeBob I'd a jellyfish), fear of abandonment, and even manipulation. however unlike anti-social it tends to be more subconscious in order to keep someone. around because your scared to lose them

Great stuff! And I think there's definitely more to Patrick than we're meant to think. His own self-awareness is a little weird if we're supposed to think he's just plan ol' dumb The comment about his "usual brand of stupidity" or the infamous "The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma" from the episode "The Secret Box" are enough to make me question whether it's all an act! At times, his true colours are just bound to slip through

Yes, he can be a dumb psychopath. And no they have not usually very high intelligence, at all. They are average in intelligent and have a intelligence distribution like a neurotypical. And you might want to read up on Anti-Social-Personality-Disorder, you are terribly informed. Patrick does not check even half the boxes actually required for a diagnose, he seems much more likely to have Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

He was just an average guy who only pretends to be intelligent, only to be disproven later on in the episode and made to look stupid. It was a fascinating character that I hadn't seen before until I saw Brian from Family Guy. And even then, those are the only two examples I can think of.

Do a theory is squidward dead. if he were to be dead that would make sense that he is dead but he is in hell. he is constantly in agony and everytime something good starts to happen to him it suddenly turns on Squidward and puts him into depression. Also many things happen to him that would kill him and many times he is left somewhere else and yet he returns to bikini bottom to continue his agony. You guys could add more to this theory and make it better that was basically a theory i came up with and have always been interested in someone doing a video on i hope you do it! ☺

I'm not so sure about this theory. you say he cant feel love but in the spongebob movie and some episode he does show love. mainly to princess mindy. and when he said "Patrick needs love too" its not because he is selfish. he is just upset. he got just a handshake and a stranger got a bike. remember sandy or spongebob did not tell him about the balloon so he thinks the handshake is all he got. when people gave him the cards he was blinded with rage because he feels unloved. and i research this. people with Asperger autism get mad very easily. yeah spongebob spent the entire day with him but he does it everyday so Patrick does not feel special. so in theory, Patrick is not a physco. he just has Aspergo autism. also he is very dumb that's why he said "i love you" when he delivers chocolate. he did not understand what spongebob said 100%. as for the "I'm with stupid part" I'm not too sure. even that episode confused me. its the only episode Patrick acts like that without a reason. now on to the cards. Patrick probably did not know what they were until spongebob told him. Patrick might be one of those people who buys anything that looks good. and in the episode you might be on to something but back to Aspergo autism. people with that tend to wander off into their own world (mind) so Patrick was just probably in his mind thinking about that sea horse ride from the season one episode where spongebob enter's his dream. as for him saying he wants to keep spongebob on his toes. i think its just a prank that goes a little out of hand. i think that should cover this video to prove Patrick is not a pshycopath. just an idiot with aspergo autism.

Taylor T did you read the comment? In her/his opinion, patrick can feel love. So before giving that statement, you should explain why you think he CAN'T feel love (why you think he's a psychopath), not just say "but aspergers can feel love" and then that's it. everything about him being a psychopath is in the video. He losses him mind over little things, he tried to capture spongebob in a jar like a jellyfish because he wanted him back. that isn't love. That is obsession. When he was taking care of gary he abused him and treated him badly. If he cared about spongebob he would of taken care of gary and not abuse him. He made fun of spongebob when Patrick supposed parents came along. He treated spongebob like dirt. He didn't even recognize that those imposters weren't his real parents. He told spongebob that you can't expect my brand of stupididy. I like to keep you on your toes. Psycopaths are very smart. He uses his supposed stupidy to do whatever he wants. When he became king he became a complete monster. Patrick can feel remorse. Psycopaths can feel remorse, but it's not like normal people. He reminds me of the kid friendly version of eric cartman.

If it did you are no Psychopath as he doesn't even check half the actual boxes. He seems more like Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They are like Anti-Social-Personality-Disorder (the actual term, not Psychopathy) part of the Cluster B personality disorders and have to do with emotions, inability to maintain relationships, poor self reflection and manipulative behavior.

.....really? i'm not convinced. like at all. you're talking about a blisteringly unintelligent character in a show where zany is the norm and thus such traits tend tp be wildly exaggerated. if we were expecting patrick, spongebob or bikini bottom in general to run closer and more strictly to real world logic then even still it's a shaky conspiracy if you ask me. it fails to take into account what kind of show spongebob is, the general atmosphere of bikini bottom and that fact that continuity is rarely, nay, never maintained for anything that isn't a multi-parter and then those are forgotten when their two or three episode arcs end. my.krabs is a far better candidate for a theory like this. despite basically having no continuity what are the main character traits generally displayed by patrick? stupidity, immaturity, a child-like selfishness but not usually malicious where as characters like mr.crabs and squidward display traits such as greed to the detriment of self and others or delusions of grandeur respectively. though it's debatable what is and isn't "canon" in the world of spongebob there are more characters with far more numerous examples of being psychopathic than patrick. really i think patrick's behavior fit's with his characterization and world. remember mr.krabs sold one of his employees(squidward) to pay off some dept, and squidward did manipulate spongebob AND patrick into servitude when they thought they killed him. and those are just the one i pulled from memory off the top of my head.

1 year late but here's my input. Do you remember the episode wherein squidward gets his reed stuck in his throat and they go to Sandy for help with getting it out? She says it's the perfect chance to test out her shrinkable sub and heads off screen to prepare. I think squidward went with her too. But when left alone with spongebob and the sub patrick convinces spongebob to enter the sub with him and spongebob reluctantly accepts after saying how mad Sandy would be if the messed anything up. When onboard Patrick hits the clearly labeled shrink button and Sandy comes back and sees what they've done. With no other choice they decide to send Patrick and pongebob into squidward. During their time in squidward Patrick begins smashing the controls and pipes which sends spongebob into panic (Patrick has in the past done things seemingly on purpose to do so and even to mock spongebob. see the episode where he puts a radio in spongebob's head to help him pass his driving test.) When, as a result of Patrick's destruction, the sub stalls and dies he suggest that filtering one of squidward's burps through it would give them the power to complete their task Sandy says he's right and they carry on with Patrick's plan. To me it seems like Patrick smashed the sub up because he knew they could still get out despite the fact, he finds it funny how spongebob is easily panicked, and because he wanted to spit in sandy's face. He seems more like a dangerous sociopath that feigns retardation so as to stay out of sight so to say. Though you have a point, the continuity in the show poses a problem granted that the characters are different in every storyline instead of being the same.
