Philippines is home to me. It does matter if it is still a 3rd World country. I live in America but I never truly feel I belong. USA is overrated, people are not friendly unless they can tolerate you. I'm retiring back in the Philippines
@schubert06 The Philippines is not a third world country. Read my comment above. You know what the third world countries are Botswana, Rowanda, Uganda, Sudan, Haiti, Burundi, and many more countries especially in Africa and south America. A third world country can't build a subway underground transportation (like New York Subway), skyway and many more big project of reclamations ongoing now in Metro Manila. There are also many foreign investors investing in the country. If the Philippines is a third world country no foreign investors would be flocking in the Philippines. The subway underground transportation will be opened to the public in 2028 according to what I've read. It's gonna be awesome and the traffic would be a lot less congestive as most commuters would take the underground transportation.
Being branded Third World..its not about Economy but Politically.. .it was hatched during Cold War Era..between Democratic Countries against Commish/Socialist Countries ..they are labeled First n Second Countries respectively...while Neutral Countries like the Phils.etc..were tagged as Third World Countries..
10yrs from now you will shock the transforming of the Philippines I think will the most among the best in southeast Asia marked my word...Philippines now it's developing their something a lot of construction everywhere that will surprise other neighboring country, Philippines will be the best 🔜.. 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
FYI, The Philippines is not just having an incredible natural beauty, amazing beaches, beautiful landscape but have also modern cities like BGC, Makati City, Pasig City, Pasay City etc..That is the real Philippines
The Philippines is now a newly Industrialized country (in the year 2023) joining with Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico, India, South Africa and many more countries.
I don’t know about “industrialized”. What industry do we have? Certainly not steel industry, which the late President Cory Aquino abolished. Sugar industry? Coconut? Not sure what we are but “developing” is more appropriate.
Philippines is Philippines not a first world, not a 3rd world. It is Philippines a pearl of the orient. I love Philippines it's beautiful country without any comparison
U seem to be surprised to see the Philippines as a progressive country , the Philippines is the fastest growing economy in Southeast Asia..all countries are undergoing changes, some for the better some for the worse...as a matter of fact some major cities in the US are going down the drain...so many homeless n drug addicts roam the streets of LA, Seattle, San Francisco, NYC, Philadelphia, etc....
"Why I want to live anywhere else?" - Beaches. I can have a good life in Thailand resort in front of a gorgeous beach with sunsets every afternoon reflecting on the ocean surface. Imagine putting a portion of BGC in front of a mile of sandy beach. But I also love Philippines so I also have a place there in Legazpi Village Makati. It's got its own advantages over BGC -- it's a ghost town on weekends and at nights. My philosophy for living is it should be quiet but close to where the action is (BGC and Poblacion). 6 months in beach residence in Thailand and 6 months is urban ghost town in Philippines. Both countries have the best local people I met.
Philippines is still developing. A lot of areas are still poor and underdeveloped, but it's developing very fast. They're also making the places more walkable. So hopefully time will come that Philippines will be fully developed.
Some tourists complain about the heat in the Philippines… of course its hot! It’s a tropical country, hot and humid… i dont mind becos for me it’s my home and my home country is beautiful!
Philippines is still the best people, country in the world.. I live in EU but you can't feel the warm, kindness, appreciation & generosity. Comparing Philippines and rich countries as No. 1 world countries, they're lack of respect, but anyway that's how they were grown to be. Filipinos are very different specially their kind being people culture
In the Philippines, there's a disparity between the rich and the very poor, like many countries, but the Philippines is pretty extreme. It only takes a short drive from where you are staying to witness the difference. The Philippines needs to close the gap by inclusivetivity in order to be considered even a second tier country, but it is progessing.
@bokchoy9632 Raise the minimum wage high enough so that they have a chance to provide a decent dignified living. Offer free education to the children up to the 2nd year of college in order to advance their chances of earning a better salary and benefits to help their parents/siblings, to get out of poverty. Find a way to lower the cost of living. Start with food. Produce more food externally to drive the prices down. The Philippines is gifted with fertile land and abundance of water. Use seeds that yield more vegetables, fruits, rice, and use technology to help them harvest it efficiently. Raise more live stock and use techniques to preserve the meats longer. Doing all this will help prevent the Philippines from importing food and be more reliant on their own yield of produce. Subsidize the smaller farmers in order to make their ends meet financially. The fisherman should set up a co-op and also have some government subsidies to help make ends meet. The government should also lawfully prohibit companies that have a monopolization of an industry. Create competition in order to keep prices from being manipulated. The most important of them all is to limit or end corruption in the government because the ones that suffer the most are the taxpayers and the marginalized. IMHO.
In 2025, the Philippines shall become Upper Middle Income country. It’s still a long way to go but the country is growing economically as affirmed by outside financial institutions and credit rating agencies.
Yes., you are right. I've read it some place and it is also a Newly Industrialized Country since 2023. Some Pilipinos would just accept that the Philippines is a third world country, no it's not.
Who cares if my country is last world. I love my country. At least we're doing well lately. I hope we'll continue to prosper. I'm surprised why too many foreigners now living in the Philippines. Why live there if you think the Philippines is 3rd world country?
Plenty of statistics obssesed asean neighbors are alwys trying to put Ph down, we dont care if you outrank Ph to whatever category you can think, but you cant deny the fact that Ph is progressing its own mayber slower than your country mirrored in chinese economy but it progressing embracing true democracy, christianity, and freedom, while most of the asean who claimed outperformed Ph specially in economy knew in their hearts their so called growth was cause of embracing dirty chinese money, and their living conditions technically very same with Ph if not worse cause they are now 2nd class citizen of their country as chinese buys and own their land cheaply
If only the Philippines was able to maintain its number 2 economic position in this part of Asia (during joe's time, japan is no.1) imagine how advance this country is...corruption...corruption...greed for power
Kung di umiskina ang Cory at Dilawans, mas una pa sana tayong umangat kesa Singapore, which at that time wanted to emulate what Marcos Sr. had done and planned for the country!
bro 3rd world countries doesnt looks like developed as you see in BGC, MAKATI, and some developed areas of the cities in the Philippines with alot of skyscrapers. look at the continent of africa continent developments like skyscrapers are not visible. also to be honest METRO MANILA is far more developed compared to some European major cities i been to London, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris and berlin and these cities has alot of cirmes, alot of homeless in the streets and smells shits the garbage are everywhere and the highrises are not as tall and dense in MANILA also in US cities like LA, san frans, or Chicago the these cities has alot of homeless people, the very dirty streets alot of beggars and the overall looks doesnt reflected as 1st world😂 westerners admits that some ASIAN major cities like TOKYO, SEOUL, SHENZHEN, HK, SHANGHAI, OSAKA, BUSAN, KL. BANGKOK, MANILA, SINGAPORE, JAKARTA, DUBAI, and DOHA are far more developed , and advanced compared to western cities.
Here in the Philippines you can witness people that say they were poor living as informal settlers and yet their house is air-conditioned having smart phones and smart TV's and Refrigerators.and even owning motorcycles or even cars...yeah we are a 3rd world country 😂
Philippines are building a lot of infrastructure that is still on going subway train, connecting bridges from Luzon, visayas and mindanao, airports and many more
Doesn't matter,, poverty now is everywhere..even in the ist world country they are referring they are into..has a lot of problems in homelessness. They are living like a rat in the industrialized county A lot of people fr ist world are moving here. And some are expecting to have a brighter future in this 3rd world country. .. well i guess its safe to say that its better to be a head of the cat than a tail of a lion.
Ei brian try to walk around mall of asia area, around the moa complex and the area of okada manila, ayala malls manila bay, parqal mall check that area.
lol PHILIPPINES ECONOMY Is far bigger than some European countries like Sweden, denmark, norway, hungry, ect. and for your information MAKATI CBD, BGC and ORTIGAS CBD of MANILA is far more cleaner, developed compared to some 1st world cities like london😂, paris, berlin, rome, amsterdam, stockholm, madrid, these cities are just a village in METRO MANILA😅 to be honest METRO MANILA is A very massive mega city and rank top 9 in the world for most number of tall skyscrapers while when i been in london the number of skyscrapers is very few i can only count it in my finger😂 i also been to LA, san Diego and San frans, the cities are totally shits very gross, expensive but very 3rd world looks alot of crimes, poverties beggars and homeless people.😅
Brian, have you heard of this company called San Miguel? This Billionaire Beer Baron wants to rebuild the infrastructure around Manila. I saw this RU-vid video and thought of you living in the lap of luxury. (This Billionaire Wants To Rebuild The Philippines - Forbes).
It's just a label that some smartypants made up. Doesn't affect my life at all. Unless its for ego, but then there are better ways to stroke one's ego than a country rating. There's no one place that defines a country. It's all the places. Which one is the real America: Skid Row or Wall Street? Answer: Yes!
This term Third World is obsolete. First, it meant Non-Aligned countries. The ones who were the West and its allies vs the Warsaw pact. The Philippines remained neutral and had good relations with both. So, at that time it was a 3d world country. Later, it became a term to mean " underdeveloped and poor". How it came about nobody knows. Now, since there is no more Warsaw Pact, the Philippines is called " a developing country". And developing means just that. Every time you arrive, new buildings are being built, new services are being offered, new investments, big changes. One year goes by and you cannot recognize the place, so much it has progressed. "Developing" sounds dignified and actually, true. Stop using the outdated and insulting " Third World".
3rd World coutries are countries not allied to the US and the West nor USSR and Warsaw Pact countriies during the Cold War. 3rd World is a political term not economic.
People really don't know the differences between the 1st, 2nd or 3rd world countries. This terms were used for political divisions during the cold war era. First world are countries are allied to the USA, 2nd world are countries of the Soviet Union block, 3rd world are neutral countries. Economically speaking, the terms used for this countries are developed economies, developing economies and least developed economies. So stop using 1st or 3rd world country when talking about any countries if you don't know what you are saying.
Yes not just 3rd world country but even 4th world country or even out of the world or under the world country, what you are showing inside metro manila and other major cities like cebu davao ilo ilo bacolod etc you've seen and showing the high rise buildings or skyscrapers of its city skyline, that view undeniably beautiful and very nice but that is not real philippines, but go to the prpvinces go to remote areas that towns the provinces the villages in the remote areas that what you have seen is the reverse real situation you can see and witness so much poverty in the provinces and a huge huge huge gap between middle class or rich people compare to poor people you can say so much poverty there are many poorest among the poor and evwn poorest among the poorest and that is reality, tha what you have witness in metro manila hig rise building like in bgc in ortigas in manila in QC in makati, in pasya or in cebu what you have seen is just a big and wide wall painted a very very colorful and beautiful painted walls but behind of it are so much poverty like slums squatters or squammy, if you will stay longer in metro manila and outside manila you can say and prove it how poor is the philippines, visit the cemenmtery of manila you can find many family's living there inside cemeteries for how many decades already those niches serves them.as their permanent homes houses for you is that OK of course not but because of poverty they forced to live there in order to save some of them serve already as tenants clean and maintain those niches, visit also other locations or areas along the roads there are many homeless living in the wooden carts along the roads some under the bridges, how many percent only filipino living in a descent and very comfortable living like the middle class and rich people but most of us are poor people earning a very low income with a very pricey prime or basic commodities and bills expensive than dubai living in manila.
Mukhang galit ka yata sa mundo Bro..poverty is everywhere even in big Cities of the U.S. and Europe..whining is not the answer..just move on..enjoy life to the fullest..
What do you expect from western peoples, they expecting sea nation as 3rd world country these guys think to the Philippines still living in 1980s era w/out expressway, train system ,buss system they thought our transportation was still caritela with horse ,
