(Edited) NPR interview in which Poppy gets asked if she is an actor/character or a person. Titanic discusses the vision and inspiration for her debut album Poppy.Computer
Muriel Jann she was so surprised that for once someone did his right that she even asked how long he worked as a reporter. I think she tried to make him a compliment without being out of her character.
He's a narc. He has no talent, hence he exploits others. I'm so tired of others trying to handle me. I don't need to be managed. I'm staying home and doing my own thing.
is so cringy when titanic says "we're a bunch of monkeys with big brains with glowing rectangles" he's trying so hard to be deep and edgy it shrinks my skin
actually really loved this interview, it stands out from a lot of other interviews with poppy/titanic. there was actual research done and there was a great balance between playing into the act and trying to separate them from it!
This made me extremly comfortable. I loved poppy being more detailed instead of her answering in an annoyed one sentence answers. Also i love that titanic got to share responses aswell. Fucking amazing raining.
MsEinnot poppy feels so controlled and manipulated by Titanic it makes me really sad i feel loke the mars argo situation is going to start again with poppy :(
I feel bad for "Poppy." She seems like a nice girl, but that character is a little too uncomfterable to me. I wish she had her own channel where she could just be herself and not have all these hidden meanings and such
This has to be one of the best interviews from Poppy, I wish more people interviewed Poppy like this. It doesn't make them sound uneducated or trying to interview Poppy for the sole reason of she's the person that says "I'm Poppy".
Neko Missy Moriah had a nickname as Poppy and when Titanic and Moriah met he was intrigued and they made what Poppy is now together. Keep in mind this isn’t the first time Titanic had directed a character with this type of personality, there was also Mars Argo
3:55 - "Trust Fund Kids" [laugh] Yeah, he said that he was talking about Taylor Swift, but considering that he has wrote the music "trust fund" to mock Mars Argo I don't think that he was realy talking about Taylor
This interview was so interesting! I love that the person interviewing Poppy and Titanic really asked them what everyone online wants to know about them.
Her: Can you guys introduce yourselves The crowd: *yelling their names out loud* Her: no you’re poppy The crowd: I’m poppy Her: good! I’m poppy The crowd: *yelling* I am poppy Her: *giggles and jumps off the block*sings Moshi Moshi*
- The "Poppy is an object" makes me feel a little uncomfortable Yeah that's the uncomfortable part. Not the "Poppy will break your neck" part that comes soon after
I don’t find her weird. I you are open to art and...expression- in general- you can actually look at her videos without judging her. It’s like stepping back and watching from a perspective of: they are doing the videos the artistic way they like, it may have a meaning, or it may not...in the end it doesn’t really matter.
Hard to break it to u but its Satanic as fuck !😂🤣 picasso , vango n frida caido didn't portray the beast bahometh in there art neither did they call humans cocaroches!!! Its all illuminati worship music , her tracks are littered with it . NO JOKE !😡
It's weird when you find out about Titanic's background. This girl was a brown haired country singer, with a different & much higher voice and then she met Titanic. Titanic was assaulting and stalking his ex, Mars Argo, and whoops he met this girl and made her into "Poppy" the copy. They were sued by Mars Argo for having stolen her entire music style, looks, concept, everything... That's why I find her weird.
This project goes so much more in depth than I realized. They're using music and the internet to spread the message of how we are all just mindless zombies that stare at our "glowing rectangles" constantly without ever obtaining information that really matters, while having this unattainable goal of being famous. We worship celebrities like gods, even if their true personalities are bad ("trust fund kids") yet even as scandals are released, we continue to worship these people even though we have no gain or benefit . And still, even though Titanic's project is to mock all of this, people are still falling prey to this concept. Titanic and Poppy are not just acting "weird" to get publicity. They are insightful people that are spreading an important message.
actually... this interview clarifies quite a bit. Poppy is intentionally meant to feel sort of sketchy, to put you on the edge, and leave you sort of uncomfortable or confused.
I think this was the first interview were I hear Poppy actually interact in a genuine way. Other interviews shes cold, but here she actually laughs and she says she likes being there. That says a lot about your interview skills, im impressed.
Matilda Lägerman He’s using that to term in this context so that people hopefully examine the strange behavior of starring at a screen for most of their day for what it is. If he used the word “phone” or “screen” no one probably would notice.
I mean, black mirror is named after a shattered phone screen for a reason. Even brand new has written songs about the "tv phone" stopping him from getting out his good message.
"Actor" is a gender neutral term dumbass... Edit: I would also like to point out that some women actually prefer to be called an actor instead of actress and vice-versa.
Y'all are all aware before poppy was POPPY, she still went by Poppy. If you're a true fan, you should know that. She's always been called Poppy, it's a childhood/young teenage nickname.
If you're a true fan you should know x is the most obnoxious and pretentious habit of people that belong to a fanbase. You aren't better than anyone else because you know something.
Its interesting how Poppy always stays in character but depending on the situation Titanic chops and changes. Its good seeing the the real side of Corey tbh
seriously awesome interview, great job getting to the heart of what poppy is about without bullying her into breaking character, I saw another interview with her where the host kept trying to hug her, and when she didnt want to be touched he knocked over some small objects she had been stacking. just disgraceful, I was happy to find this.
Who cares that what he said is based off false rumors that have been encouraged by adults who are 10+ years older than Taylor who haven't managed to outgrow their bullying stage of life. Taylor went from recording company to recording company when she was 14 and was finally discovered in a cafe by someone who hadn't yet even started his record company. How is she a 'trust fund kid' who has 'bought their way into the business'?
Emily All I said was "that Taylor Swift diss ooo" ...I never implied that any of what he said was true. I was just acknowledging the diss because I found it funny. Lighten up.
Emily oh really, and also says the chick that women shouldn't break down other women but help them. Um look at her and Katy. Yeah get the fuck outta here dumb ass bimbo (to Taylor) shes as fake as they come.
Or giving the fact that majority of her hits were fucking getting revenge on an ex, that we don't even know who broke up with who. She's making it all public and they never did, until she implies or states that this song is about So and So. Like i can see at least one but not a whole fucking bunch. She only dates people to have hits, and don't even deny it because its true.
Definitely my favorite interview with them, this was very thorough, and they treated her like they should have, while not completely neglecting Titanic. This was a very nice video, and I thank you for that ^^
from here, i definitely see what their goals in every song. everything in their song starts to make sense. its incredible and totally out of the box. keep it up, poppy!! from, Malaysia.
Titanic just dragged Taylor Swift and you're focused on Simon the sweet Grandpa. Love his interview. This information is all implicit in the music but it's good to hear it said.
dude as soon as I found out about her it seemed like even if she isnt trying to start a cult that she would have a cult like following just based on her style of music and videos. Then those song lyrics just confirmed my suspicions
I first heard this on NPR. Clever act. She's the latest temporary diversion in the entertainment quest for new things. These people went to Japan, observed how Pamyu Pamyu became a big pop star, decided on morphing that into "Poppy" and make a few million dollars by presenting an American version. The fact that Moriah Rose Pereira (nice girl from Nashville) can get this much attention shows how American consumerist culture has an insatiable appetite for novelty. This is harmless stuff, unless you make it a habit to replace worthwhile cultural offerings with a big bowl of Air Pudding.
Noe Berengena I'm so sorry, but why is it wrong for her to be a common person from Nashville? It's the perfect deal to me: She has not bought her way into the industry as others have made. It has been around three years of promoting herself, truly a great campaign that has worked her image really well.
+Angel -- we on the sidelines may never know what motivates anyone to create a personality for public consumption. Regarding Nashville, that info is incidental, just to let people know her origins.
Good try. You almost could pass for an intelligent person. But you are looking at it from some recent college media and advertising perspective, not actually seeing that there is NOTHING harmless about this female. Nothing. She's practically an MK ULTRA side effect.
Whatever Titanic's intentions are with his Poppy project I think it's nice that her career as a video artist and musician aren't constantly mixed with her personal life. I feel that decent human beings become voyeuristic with the perversions for the minor details about the personal lives of celebrities. While being a good person a good thing, at the end of the day, a performer is a performer and their job is to perform, what they do in their free time mostly shouldn't be our business.
