I'll assume you guys don't have time, neither the inclination to read the comments. However, I have to leave this here. I have listened to everything Donald Hoffman has to say. However, Josh explained Hoffman's theory exactly as it is, yet in simpler terms than Hoffman. That's a mean feat. I have been listening to your show for over 10 years, in and off. You guys are amazing the energy between you both is really an enjoyable experience. Thank you for all you hard work.

I love this! personally I don't agree with the "the apple doesn't exist" statement. Ever since I heard about UV light, or watched my cat appear to be looking at something that "isn't there", or considered people who literally can't "feel" things, I've thought it all comes down to how we receive the information reality presents to us, and that we don't have the ability to process everything that exists through the five senses. The podcast suggests it's about natural selection and survival, and that's something I really didn't consider, so...cool, thanks! I will say, I'm not ready to toss out the premise that there's not something tangible, that truly exists. We just don't process all of it.

Not to be too pedantic, but towards the end of the episode you say "It's not like reality is forever out of our grasp. We're becoming smart enough to learn ways to sense it in other ways or to convert it into things that we can sense.". Isn't that inconsistent with everything else you say in the podcast, almost like a bit of comforting that "It's ok, reality's still there for us and we can grasp it" after trashing it for 40 minutes. I appreciate it was a throw away line, but I think it's illustrative of the kind of inconsistency that keeps slipping into the language of philopshers who like to say reality isn't real (though of course that might still be true). I wonder if there are any philosophers who live consistently as if "reality isn't real" - in their actual instantiated life - irrespective of whatever constructs they create in their philosophical writings. I'm not even sure what that would look like (next podcast topic!). I've certainly never met someone like that , in "real" life.

Reality-the world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them. Philosophers meaning of Reality- a substance that actually exists in an external world. To be is real is to exist without the need to be proven to exist. If it is real, then it is just real. You guys (especially Josh) are looking way too deep and overcomplicating simple things. The things you guys talked about in this podcast are illogical, we're not computers. Edit: Also, stop taking shrooms so much, it's frying your brains.
