Type 1 Diabetic for 30 years and have been IF for the past 4-5 years. It's been great for my A1c.

IF is NOT Calorie restriction. It’s calorie intake TIMING. I eat at noon and again at 6PM. I eat NOTHING in between these times (from 7PM - Noon the next day). Total calorie intake (for me) is unchanged from before IF. -- Insulin Resistance is the pivotal factor for human weight mgt. IF gives your body 16 hours to burn up fat stores. This is why SNACKING (during the 16 hour ‘fast’) totally defeats this. All food increases insulin which causes fat build up. That’s why reducing calories does NOT cause weight loss. It reduces insulin production which REDUCES METABOLISM. Hence no weight loss, in the long run.

I didnt listen to this whole thing because of the constant "fasting is bad" narrative. While I do enjoy your podcasts, I do believe this is a disservice to people listening in portraying fasting in a negative light. I do recommend everyone to listen to fasting lectures by actual doctors/cardiologist that are available online to fully grasp the advantages, especially those by Dr. Pradip Jamnadas and Dr. Jason Fung.

IF is my ‘go-to’ when I feel crummy. It helps me with weight loss and appetite control. I personally know more than one person that greatly improved their health with IF. There’s a nephrologist in Toronto that uses IF to treat many patients that have kidney problems who are diabetic. With very good results.
