I am hopeful for that, although if it was an option it's weird it wasn't in the trailer whereas the SMRPG trailer showed theirs off. NOt saying that means it won't happen, just a bit of worry.
Lol nvm I saw the other trailer that confirms the badge, awesome! I kinda wish it was an option just for ease of access, but making it a bae is more fun aestehtically so yeah, it's cool. Hopefully you can get it early or easily, so you can use it early if you want.
@@ShyRanger My nitpick about it is that you won’t get to hear the original music in the prologue because badges aren’t accessible at the very start of the game.
I'm all for new music, but I prefer the original track for Rogueport. There is some nostalgia factor, but it also just does a better job portraying the town.
I dunno why they did this. The actual track got released. They also did not play the track from start, but halfway through and with the dialogue sound bopping and after playing the full original track. Of course it's going to be an unpleasant contrast
There is a star piece (a secondary form of currency used to buy badges) hidden underneath the floor. In order to get it, you have to ground pound in order to flip the floor piece, but if someone is standing on top of the floorboard, their weight prevents it from flipping. Mario kept ground pounding on the floorboard (doesn’t work) and then Koops kept standing on it! Could have easily kicked him out of the way and got it in seconds lmao
Really don't care for the new version to be honest. The original was almost perfect. The first half conveys the mystery of the town and its history while the second half has that snaky synth riff that encapsulates how seedy and dangerous the city is. The brass in the new one makes it sound majestic... and Rogueport is not majestic. Not to mention that the arrangement is just too dense. So much going on. It's a bit tiring to listen to. Not to hate, though. The lighting and stuff in this remake looks awesome. But I'd stick with the earlier music
Yeah I don’t how I feel about the new music. I just don’t think it sounds right for some reason and I swear that’s not just nostalgia talking. The original music might be 20 years old but it’s still not ancient compared to even older video games out there. Like if this was a brand new Paper Mario game with the original music from 20 years ago, we wouldn’t even think it was old music playing. That’s how good the old music is! Of course I’ll give the new music a try but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be playing with the old music instead.
100% the original soundtrack still sounds modern and new. I dont get the need to *Update* soundtracks. The instruments sound way better in the original too, its just more simple and pleasing to listen to.. definitely not a fan of the live instrumentation because it wasn't composed for that
Its SO difficult to choose. I absolutely adore the original, but there's something about this new style that feels amazing on it's own. It definitely feels more like different genres over being from the same game.
I actually really love the new one, although I can see how others can see it as a bit too much haha. I think it’s a song that a lot of returning players will get used to even after a short while from playing the game.
Why did they have to turn it into rock, like just from a music standpoint going from synth to rock seems… like a weird choice. It’s not bad, I’m just not sure the rock fits better than the synth for this type of game
When i started playing the remake without having played the first one, the guitar in the theme made me think it sounded like that because i broke the ladys contact lenses
IDK if the gamecube badge changes more than just the ost, we will have to wait and see, but it does feel bizarre at times hearing goombella having this squeaky ''Banjo kazooiesque'' voice while talking instead of all the characters having the same ''voice''
@@prismaticseal2553while i prefer basically every sound effect from the original, those voice sonds feel so... natural. I mean of course it makes sense, i know, but it's something that was never present in basically any Mario RPG and now that it's here it feels so good like it always was here
@@biondigiacomo7176 Since im used to the old one where almost all “voice” sfx were the same, listening to this new Banjo Kazooie text (voice of character) effect is a bit bizarre, it might take a while for me to adjust, I mostly like it for Koops
Remember this is after 20 years of experience with composing. A 20 year gap in any creative's career will most definitely have seen changes. Of course it is going to sound different
The new arrangements sound too cluttered and messy. It’s not clear what my ear should be listening to, rather each element is competing for my attention with no regard for the other parts. Also, the sparse percussion of the original was so quirky, it really fit the mood of this “anti-Mario” town that is Rogueport. Each percussion hit feels random yet somehow fitting within the larger context of the piece. Replacing the percussion parts with a basic rock drum set pattern makes it feel too…standard… Old arrangements are noticeably better.
It's kinda cool that the new one is using more live instruments like what sticker star onwards did! I appreciate the rearrangement but I absolutely prefer the original
two totally different vibes. the remake sounds amazing and epic, i think it would work better as a battle theme! the old version i think matches the dingy vibes of rogueport better, especially with the tone being more relaxed. makes way more sense since the gameplay here is kind of just the inbetween parts of the adventure, rather than this epic moment that the remake makes it out to be. it is a bit of an odd choice to me adding those fast paced drums and all those horns, it just makes the tone very grand. i'm not against it being that way but it's definitely a change from the original vibe. cuz lets be honest, if this was actually MEANT to be a battle theme, i think we'd all be so hyped about this remix! and i definitely still am extremely hyped about it. it sounds fucking amazing. i can tell its the same composers as color splash and origami king which i am SO excited for because those soundtracks fucking slap, so the original soundtrack being as good as it already is, the remake ost is gonna be absolute FIRE.
The new orchestration is so rich compared to the original one. As some who played it when it came out and replayed it many times after can't be more excited to play this remake.
The drum added and the guitar used in the remake is so clever. It makes the music very modern and still good like in the original. Also it looks like it's an extended version, like in the remake of the Super Mario RPG, instead of being looped over.
One of the new songs has got to be a club eurobeat remix. Pokemon did that quite a few times with their remake songs. I’m hoping some something similar with this game!
The new version almost feels too triumphant for what Rogueport is supposed to be like, but I kinda dig it. Might be switching back and forth between the classic and new version until I figure out which I like better.
I really like the new music, and absolutely love the variety of little voices all the characters get. Their voices are giving me Banjo Kazooie vibes and I'm all for it.
dont worry everyone from what i have seen there is a gamecube sounds badge so i assume it will change the music back too not just the hammer and jump sounds.
They didn't do Rougeport justice. I've never even played the original game, yet I've always enjoyed the Rougeport theme in particular. Nintendo, I'm not angry, just heavily disappointed, do better. :(
The old song is in the game due to the badge that allows old songs to replace the new ones, but yeah, the new ost could of been the og but better instead of Origami King Thousand of Doors
The new Rogueport theme sounds very party-ish xD I like the older one's more austere, bad side of town vibe (could just be nostalgia talking.) Also, Rogueport seems a little too clean in the remake imo It's supposed to be dark and gloomy, not bright and sunny
Both sound good to me One for nostalgia and I really do like the new instruments but what really freaks me out is the new sounds that the people are making I was not expecting HeheheHEHhhehuhehuheh
I wonder if they'll have an option to toggle between the original tracks and the remakes like RPG had. I honestly love both and would probbaly swap between them often.
I don’t hate the new Rogueport music, it just feels a bit odd. The original fits more with the overall vibe of Rogueport, while the new one sounds more like battle music or a Smash Bros remix or something.
i love the new one but man ngl the hardest part of this remake is just gonna b the whole nostalgia bias thing loooool whenever I hear og rogueport it just reminds me of playing this game for hours at a time like more than a decade ago, kinda can’t rlly get rid of those memories, plus I love the new one but it’s just a lil too bombastic imo
completely unrelated but i just find it kinda odd that the remake seems to only be 30 fps. I know a ton of people don't care either way but I just find it weird. Just wondering how something like mario odyssey can be at 60 fps but this can't
I'm glad I found this video, I just went on a personal tirade the other day about how much I hated the new music compared to the original soundtrack. Listening to them back to back, the new tracks aren't bad by any means, but I definitely still prefer the old music. If the comments saying the old music will be an option are true, then I may still consider picking up this remake at some point.
The other soundtrack I heard in the various trailers/footage sounds fabulous, but rogueport sounds too epic/fantastic for the town it is meant to represent. I would have preferred an enhanced version of the original.
That was hard to watch with the star piece. I guess he didn't realize the partner standing on top of it wouldn't let the floor flip over. As far as music goes, I think the Old music sounds better for city walking ambiance, where as the remake sounds more like if you were in a Battle within the city.
I'm loving a lot of the soundtrack in this remake, but this new Rogueport theme is the first real miss for me. The brass instruments and heavier percussion just don't fit very well IMO. The Smash remix was better, but sadly is only a small portion of the song.
Dang it's close, but I like the original a bit more... however, for a fair chance you must get the soundtrack version of the new one and play them at the same volume level just so I can hear all the instruments in full, cuz the new guitar sounds pretty good in the breakdown.
I think the original version is a bit more fitting, not to say the new version is bad though, tbh I think it's a frickin bop! I wasn't expecting them to make it sound more "rocky" but I was definitely bopping my head listening along to it xD
The new one has an almost completely different set of chord progressions that greatly changes the feel of the song. I would much rather have had the original chord progressions with new instrumentation.
Not into it too much, a few moments in the new ost feel really cool, like they modernized and respected the identity, and then they just put some loud trumpets and loud guitars that doesn't really fit the vibe I've known for years, I may get hate for it but is my opinion, I DO NOT LIKE THEY ARE TRYING TO PUSH ORIGAMI KING STYLE INTO THE OLD GAME OST.
I think if it's anyone's first time playing the game, the remastered music will be fine for anyone who hears it. I think a lot of people who grew up with the original will prefer the original music (big shocker). I think I prefer the original but the remaster is nice. I like the liveliness and I actually like the horns in it. It's good.
The Switch version is way too intense. I'd expect this to be a enemy or even boss music for an NPC in rogueport but not a main hub theme. It doesn't fit the town. The original theme is fast paced but also simpler on the instruments and matches the run down vibe of the town. The new one is just unnecessarily intense. But we get to pick which one we want in the game so either way, it's a win.
