Maybe. But still Russia has lost plentiful of IFVs along with tanks. Still, the only way Russia's tactics could work was as long as the Ukrainians had no ammo. Russians could take Avdiivka and Severodonets because the Ukrainians had supply issues. If the Russians can't cut the Lviv-Kyiv corridor, there is little they can do.

Ran out. First there were everyday and night missile attacks, then just went down to once a week, then a random retaliatory chimpout whenever russians lost territory or got humiliated one way or another, now you don't hear about rocket attacks more often than once in months because whatever russia can produce they want to stockpile for the winter "freeze the civilians" campaign against ukrainian electric network. Sounds like a pretty much good indicator they are out of them.

@erf3176
@erf3176 8 дней назад
The refurbished tanks can be put into the field faster than newly built ones. But the stockpile of old tanks to refurbish is limited. So the rate of putting tanks into the front will drop hard as the available tanks to refurbish disappear. There is a huge stockpile of older tanks. But these were stored out in the open air, taking snowfall, melt, rain, snowfall again, melt. Metal contracting and expanding repeatedly and rusting over decades. A lot of that stockpile is not gonna be useful for anything other than recycling the metals.
@123jogger123
@123jogger123 8 дней назад
And not to forget: these old stored tanks are often victims of corruption. Over the years, many parts inside the tanks have been stolen, cause nobody cared about them and nobody looked into them over years. There are interesting interviews with retired soldiers of those storage fields.

@hbt739
@hbt739 8 дней назад
Thats wrong in my mind. What we learned so far is that They give the protection to the infantry, they make holes in the blockades, destroy machine guns and other fortified positions. This can be replaced in part by rocket launchers and so on but not to an effective degree. Because u need too many, a BMP 1 can reload in 8 seconds while driving. This can't be beaten by rocket launchers to be used the person has to stop aim and shoot (smaller kaliber and harder to transport). For offense, they are needed defense, not so much cause u dont need as many rocket launchers, and u dont need to transport them at all.

Russia running out of missiles, tanks n whatnot... Its getting boring...
@AndrewRoberts11
@AndrewRoberts11 7 дней назад
It may be boring, but it's making the World safer, the Soviet stockpiles of MBT, IFV, BTR, munition, missile cruisers, Russia inherited are all being depleted, as are the toys Ukraine inherited, and those transferred by Hungary, Bulgaria, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Finland, ... (nations once occupied by the Soviet Union) post the 1922 Italian, 1926 Berlin, and 1939 Moscow treaties, between Germany and USSR. If you take the Jan 31 Military Balance 2024 report, it states Russia had lost in excess of 3000 of the 4750 OPERATIONAL MBT it had at the start of 2020, to that date, Oryx shows a further 500 losses since the end of Jan. Which would suggest the inherited, functioning, stockpile is down to 1250, before you add new / re-manufactured tanks being churned out. Add the fitted diesel engines have an expected service life somewhere between 250 and 5000 hours before overhaul, depending on model, and the barrels are good for ~500 rounds, and much of the surviving fleet will need to return to be re-manufactured, as clocking up the operational hours, every day. At present rates Russia will be dependent on new / re-manufactured vehicles by mid 2025, the Soviet stockpiles then being exhausted. By the end of 2025 you'll likely only be able to find a: T-52, T-54, T-64, T-72, or T-80 in a museum, or tin-pot 3rd World Nation, ditto for Soviet IFV's. Russia having swapped some territory with China, for material aid, and given the amount of spare Russian territory, and the size of Chinas industrial complex, this Special operation, by the geriatric fool, will continue for months, at least till after the US elections, but will drain the Soviet stockpiles, and the Russian Sovereign wealth fund, as it will the other Soviet stockpiles, to make any other Special operations, far less likely. Armour not being cheap, and taxes to pay for more, even less popular than loosing Russian males, by the hundred thousand, to fulfil the fantasy of a a cognitively declining supreme leader.

Because the slow trickle (most of which is obsolete garbage like the Leopard 1 from the 1950s, to pad numbers hoping viewers/voters will confuse it with the much better, decades-newer Leopard 2) of tanks from the west, usually delivered months or up to a year after promised, cannot compete with Russia's production, even if Russia's production is at a lower rate than their losses. You don't understand. Saying that Russia had used up its stores of missiles never meant that Russia was prevented from building or buying new missiles.

Russia depleted its (incredible) ammo stock. The proof is that they needed North Korea deal. But don't worry, there are a lot of T34 in museus to comission.

@@jomaoliveira7949 I think the Ukraine war made US stocks run dry, they needed to beg South Korea for ammo for Ukraine. Here is the thing: US can not produce a million shells a year rn, NK or Russia can however.

@@jomaoliveira7949 according to Globalfirepower, Russia has 3,480 T80s and 617 T90s. Plus 9,030 T72s. So why would they be using T34s?

There's no way Russia is running out of tanks. Just as an example, Iraq was in an 8 year high intensity war with Iran and lost thousands of tanks, yet by the end we had thousands more than what we started out with, and we had no production capability during all those years. So i can tell you right away the idea that Russia is running out of tanks is just laughable.
