is ryobi one+ 18v angle grinder good? - tools in action review ---------
In this video i will put to the test and review the ryobi one+ 18v angle grinder in order to find out if it is worth the money or just a toy. so what better way than to put the tools in action and test it by cutting steel, concrete and tiles. A subscriber is interested in buying a ryobi one+ angle grinder and is worried that it will not perform and wanted to know how well it can cut different materials. dewalt , makita and Milwaukee angle grinders cost more but for the price ryobi provides great value for money. The only down side to this cordless tool is that it uses more battery whilst operating the grinder as opposed to other cordless tools in the one+ range. I have one of these and it works great. Love the fact that I don't have to drag a cord around. You've heard it a hundred times already (from the comments below) but use the guard and get some safety glasses. I was careless, rushing to get something done quickly, and had the a shard of metal shoot out into my eye. The 2 minutes that I would have "wasted" putting the guard and safety glasses on was more than outweighed by the 3 hours I spent at the hospital having the metal removed and then the 2 hours for a follow up visit to have the rust drilled out of my eye. Don't be a idiot like me.

Meh, big goggles or a facemask would be better, along with gloves, and more light. I can totally understand not using the guard, IF you have the rest. What other tool would you propose to get a good view of what you're doing, that's also cordless? Recip saw with carbide blades? The blades will cost a lot more money, and can still throw up debris but inherently doesn't have a blocking guard at all. That's the thing about guards, no matter what you use, if you need to see the except spot being cut then by design debris can necessarily fly up out of the cut. Some tools (and end users) have tried to use clear plastic guards, but that only works for a short while before the debris pummels it and makes it scratched till translucent so you can't see through it either.

I forget if you said brushed or brushless? I've got an old brushed unit, and I don't bother with anything smaller than the 4Ah battery, it won't do much. So everyone is "accustomed to" a corded unit, and I am not about to pretend that this is truly compatible. For the $, Harbor Freight black and blue paddle switch unit is probably a "better value", however, having said that, I've put a million miles on my brushed Ryobi! The wrench fits conveniently in the handle, it's fairly well balanced, and certainly does the job of "A Grinder". As mentioned, it certainly does suck down the juice, but with the 6Ah and now 9Ah (of which I have zero experience with) batteries that's kinda a thing of the past. What I love this for, portability and when cutting water pipe! I originally bought mine in route to an overhead job of cutting out water pipe. I wasn't too fond of holding an extension cord, with water running down it, standing in a puddle. Nope, I wasn't planning to be wearing OSHA approved flops, but still, 18 VDC or 110 VAC..... I prefer the 18 to tickle me, should that occur. And the portability.... fence posts, pier posts, lawnmower blades (on the mower, in the backyard), there's no generator or extension cord to fight with out in the back 40. What I don't like about it, well, probably sucking down a battery faster than it charges, when working "at the bench". Then, it's simply "wiser" to utilize the cord. This model is a fantastic grinder, for its intended purpose. Admittedly, it is a bit slower than its corded counterparts, so for someone who has limited need, again HF is probably more for you. But for someone already invested in the One+ Platform, this is definitely a good buy, that may not go "as appreciated as hoped" immediately. But I assure you, one day, not long from now, you'll find a need, and realize how valuable cordless really is. Be it too long of a screw used, an extension cord mere inches too short, or the car being jacked up just a bit to close to the ground..... the need will arise and the Ryobi will prove its worth. Like I said, there's cheaper, and for hardcore daily use, there's certainly better. But once you have drank the Ryobi Kool-aid, there's no point in asking, you will find a use, but there are a few "other tools" to pick up first. Unless you just got a gift card for the holidays, then splurge on this now! Forgot to mention, for those unfamiliar, there's wire wheels, braided wire wheels, wire wheel cups, cutting disks, grinding wheels, flapper sandpaper disks, and diamond blades. These tools offer a multitude of options, and each "wheel" presents it's own inherited hazards. With a cutting wheel, proceed lightly, deliberately, straight, and slowly, as they can essentially EXPLODE when worn incorrectly and or frade. Grinders and sanders not much of a worry. Any wire of any wire wheel can certainly "go flying", and get stuck where you least expect. And of course the diamond blade for clays. Use proper protection of gloves, glasses, and the multi-position guard. Some tasks it can be very advantageous to wear a mask as well. Warn others of the dangers presented with a tool like this, and to stay out of the work zone, or path of sparks and debris (in line with the wheel), and to also not "startle the operator". Use your head, keep your fingers. Have you ever actually read the instructions on a ladder, it pretty much tells you not to buy it, let alone climb it! Common sense, is it population control, survival of the fittest, I dunno, but just think, before you pick up this or any tool.
@billshowto
@billshowto 5 лет назад
Hi , it’s the brushed version. Apparently the brushless model is better on battery consumption by about 30%. As for corded tools you can’t compare with cordless, corded has so much more power. It’s all about practicality and convenience. As you may have notice I keep my safety guard off for the tight areas such as cutting water pipes. 👍

You are not cutting the concrete correctly. You're supposed to hold the tool the opposite direction so that the concrete dust is throw away from it, not thrown back at the tool, where the tool fan sucks it in and it destroys it over time. Yes it is a little awkward to get used to at first, but also note that it means the dust isn't being throw at you, too.

I have this grinder. It performs well for doing one-off cuts like this. But it's not useful for working on a project unless you have several spare batteries. One spare won't cut it.

What are in those kits can depend upon the region, and date. Often the kits have the older versions of tools which are less powerful by design but also by being older tech. You really don't want certain tools to be the older, less powerful designs such as the angle grinder, hammer drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw. If you use an impact driver a lot then that too ought to be the brushless P238 or P239, though you give up less compared to the other tools mentioned if you go with the older impact driver, there is only so much torque needed in a mere 1/4" drive before you start damaging things.

If the thermal fuse in the tool fails to a non-reset state, replace that fuse. However if it did not reset a few (several times) successfully before the time it failed to reset, then I'd suspect it wasn't really the thermal fuse detecting temperature alone that was the problem. Thermal resettable fuses usually have many cycles before outright failure, yet you're observing it twice, so I am suspecting it is more likely you get debris in it and that chewed it up internally. The way his was used in the video, he'll have the same problem because the exit debris was going toward the tool, fan intake.

why do you angle the grinder towards you when you cut..... doesn't make any sense... if your not gonna wear eye protection then angle the shit flat to what your cutting and have a better chance of not getting hit in the eye.. the way you angle it every time you cut. you keep shooting everything towards you.

OH&S will have kittens watching this haha also of note, when cutting tiles, PLEASE use a mask, that silicosis is a real bitch and will kill you in a very slow horrible gasping way.

Had the chance to use one. Seriously uncomfortable to hold No speed control, no switch lock. Poor build quality and overpriced.

How can you say overpriced when the features you want, only come on tools with either higher price or worse build quality? It's a homeowner grade tool, no point in comparing against those that cost twice as much. No, three times as much is about what it would be since that's the older, less expensive brushed version. TO be sure, Ryobi is not contractor grade and you can get better by paying more, usually at least 70% more by the time you add the extra cost of contractor brand batteries too. This is true for practically all Ryobi tools.
