This video is made to give you an overview of what to expect in terms of weather, scenery and culture. For us, October is a great month to visit Sapa.
What is the Weather like in October?
After the summer rains lasting from May to September, October sees the beginning of the cooler and drier season. The Autumn months see temperatures cooling and ideal conditions for treks. Precipitation levels decrease and this in turn leads to less mosquitos and leeches.
Will the rice terraces be green or yellow in October?
No. Harvest typically finished by mid September, but Sapa is so much more than rice. During October, forest treks become much more accessible. The villages come alive with people working on hard on textiles in preparation for Lunar New Year.
What is there to see and do in Sapa in October?
As well as treks and homestays, forest walks, wild swimming and waterfall visits are highly recommended in October. Textiles workshops, the Fansipan cable car, market tours and cooking classes make a perfect alternative if you don’t want as much exertion.
