In regards to your comment about Kate living vicariously thru Edwina, I have a lot to say about it😂 and while yes it might be a bit true, Edwina also wants all of the things they were referring to, Kate is not forcing her or guilting her to do anything. When you are an older sister who took it upon herself to try to give your sister everything you didn't have you try to overcompensate, and given that Kate is not of noble birth but Edwina is, she is trying to give her the best life possible while still encouraging her to do it for love. Kate doesn't feel she has the luxury to chose the same things for herself, so she doesn't take into account her own desires (even if she subconsciously is doing it )
I get it but as an older sister that is not an excuse to be honest with your sister. We keep using that as an excuse for being a horrible human. Be honest and that’s it.
I at first thought it was goofy for him to die from a bee sting, even acknowledging people would die from mundane things all the time due to a lack of science. The acting though really portrayed how terrifying in that moment it could be to just suddenly lose someone being around flowers! To lose to them to anything. I mean the AMOUNT of women who died in childbirth, people drinking water, bacteria on food, etc. problems we rarely have to worry about. It was very well done
In the books it’s a lot different, Kate makes it out that edwina and Anthony belong together but edwina is never actually around, or interested in being around him. when she is with him their conversations are dull and boring. Edwina is actually in love with someone else the whole time and Edwina is happy for Kate finally realizing that she is the one who loves him, they also don’t address Kate’s anxiety and ptsd from thunder. If they had it would have made her more vulnerable to Anthony too.
Also in the book the bee scene goes differently. They ARE actually caught by other people walking in the park... And he wasn't just touching her boobie, in the book, he was SUCKING the bee venom out of her boob flesh in a desperate panic... So he was going to town on her bosom flesh 🤣🤣 which is significantly more... Promiscuous of situation than him touching her skin to skin... which was ALSO very scandalous back then... But not as scandalous as mouth to boob 👀🤣.... I'm pretty sure they changed that plot point in the show though because it's literally exactly how Daphne and Simon get found out and are forced to marry in the first book and season they were caught in a compromising situation... And so the author really just repeated the trope two books in a row so... They smartly decided to not do that bullshit... Because it just absolutely reeks of lazy writing... Which IS one of the criticisms of the book series, for sure. ...is that it's the same shit over and over again and that the writing isn't super inspired or different book to book. Like a lot of people on RU-vid have said that reading the book series ALL of the book plot lines kind of blend together because everyone's perspective... reads the same. And from what little I've read of the book series (granted only gave one of the books a shot.. a bunch of people on socials said they liked Francesca's book the best and so that's the one I chose to read). I would agree that the writing is like ...mediocre, at most. It's not groundbreaking amazingly written stuff, even within the niche genre of Regency Romance. The show has added a LOT of very interesting elements that absolutely are not in the book series. So yeah, it's not a huge surprise that I greatly prefer Queen Charlotte which is an adaptation that was written post Bridgerton existing and so Shonda Rhimes helped write it... In addition to the author of the books. I like the plot and dialogue in the spin-off SIGNIFICANTLY more. Very very excited for when you eventually react to it... Hopefully, before season 3 as, chronologically, the present day scenes in Queen Charlotte take place in between season 2 and season 3. To
As someone who is reading the book and almost done in the book I prefer it much better. Edwina does not care at the end she like “I knew all the time and I’m happy for you” I prefer that than this season because it’s less depending on the older sister syndrome. At the end all I cared about is Edwina happiness as an older sister and Kate not being honest and taking responsibility is what I hated about this season. I would never do that to my sister. My little sister watched it by herself and hated it as well.
I think a lot of people are too quick to judge Kate and say that she’s living through Edwina. Yes in a way she is but that’s because she gave up her youth to raise her. Kate literally explained it in the clip of her and Lady Danbury when she confronted her about their grandparents. She already lost her own birth mother, and then lost her father so while Lady Mary was in mourning over their father….Kate took the role of “the mother” and basically raised Edwina by herself which wasn’t fair to her. In regards to Edwina and Anthony, both Anthony and Kate had already made it clear to her that him marrying Edwina wouldn’t be a love match, but a match of duty and Edwina was okay with it because she loved the idea of being with him, but didn’t realize what she was truly getting herself into. I think some people also forget the time period of this, women regardless of their status in society had no actual choices and sometimes had to make decisions based on what they felt was the right thing to do, even if it seemed crazy. Kate wouldn’t tell Edwina because she felt that Edwina deserved to find happiness and love, and while it was obvious that Kate also wanted that but for herself…..it was also obvious that Anthony was the one to almost act upon those feelings, not Kate. Yes she should’ve told Edwina the truth, but it probably wouldn’t have done much because nobody not even Lady Danbury ever thought to ask Kate how she was feeling or to make sure she was alright….
100% eldest daughter syndrome and Kate’s feelings are also important but not at the expense at Edwina being completely in the dark about her entire future. Even if the marriage were to be simply out of duty Anthony’s insistent desire for Kate while marrying Edwina becomes incredibly disrespectful to both women. Kate had to at least inform Edwina about all the variables as she too is an adult.
Anthony was honestly just standing in his own way, he made this whole thing sooo complicated but I guess it makes sense why. I will protect and go to war for Kate lmao. Kate literally had been telling Edwina from the beginning that Anthony would not give her the love she deserves, Anthony even said it himself lol. I guess her need to protect her family and put everyone before her did end up disastrous but she gave all she had time and time again. When it comes to Anthony, his choices are theee worst, and honestly, I can't even excuse them but with Kate, everything just makes sense in the way it unfolded and I fully understand why she made the decisions she made although they weren't always the right ones (for me personally). Loved the reactions btw the rubber ducky comment took me out😂
One detail that I really really love in this show is that the Sharma's accents change quite a lot. And you would think that it might have something to do with the actors just not having a firm grasp on the accent... But they're actually doing it purposefully(because both actresses for the Sharma children are both British, IIRC... They're putting on slight Indian accents for the show and so the fluctuation in how heavy it is is purposeful). Their accents get stronger when they're talking with each other... And then when they're talking to Bridgertons or other people of the ton... They very deliberately tone down how heavy their accented english is. But when they are alone they can relax and not focus on pronouncing everything super posh and they also use a lot more terms of endearment in whatever Indian language that they speak. I don't really know the intricacies of the different Indian languages and how they sound so I don't know exactly which one they speak off the top of my head.... But yeah, this is just a detail that I really liked in the show that in all honesty they didn't HAVE to add but the fact that they chose to is really nice and kind of shows the care and respect that the writers and showrunner have towards adding different cultural aspects and touchstones into the shows' very purposeful diversity... It does not exist in the books because EVERYONE is white in the books. Lmao.
I think I was so deeply traumatised from watching My Girl so often as a toddler that I never even questioned why death by beesting would be anything but an appropriately devastating death to watch, but in retrospect, yeah, that IS kind of a weird death 😂
You gotta make sure you rewatched both seasons before season 3 drops. I know not everyone has time as a luxury to do this BUT IF YOU DO. I picked up on things I missed. I also wanted to make sure my feelings about Colin were fair. And they are. I’m big mad at him 🤣 And Eloise.
I'm so happy I found your channel. Your reactions are so entertaining. I love Anthony Bridgerton so much, but you are 100% correct. He is an ass in this episode for proposing to Edwina. He sets up a situation that leads to a lot of hurt for himself, Kate, and Edwina. He is afraid of love, and because of that, he makes a huge mistake. Kate also loves her sister, and she also doesn't feel worthy, and that causes her to make choices that aren't the best, but she makes them with nothing but a pure heart. The last four episodes are a rollercoaster, but I think in the end, you will love Anthony and Kate, and Edwina gets to where she needs to be. I can't wait for your next reaction.

I was annoyed with Kate. If Kate just told her she liked him. I like Anthony second in the half more. Not enough people cared about the sisters feelings. They wasted her chances in finding someone.
