I’m an Orlando resident, a roller coaster enthusiast, and a huge theme park fan (also a huge fan of your channel), and I think Pipeline is the perfect addition to Sea World Orlando! I rode it 5 times in a row and enjoyed it more each time. The feeling of standing air time is amazing, the layout is pretty fun and long enough, the theming is really good and looks awesome at the front of the park, and I found it to be a lot more comfortable than the other standup coaster I’ve been on. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the ride experience and I’m surprised you found it painful and nauseating! I get nauseous on a fair amount of rides and a few coasters, but I felt good on Pipeline!

Everyone I've talked to has said they loved it. I think it'll pay off for sure, more coasters in general are really what's keeping SeaWorld alive. I'm excited to try it. Update: I rode is just yesterday and have to say it was an awesome ride. Unlike any coaster I've done before, the launches were great, the banking turns were more thrilling than expected, and the airtime was insane. I'm 6'1 and while the harness pushed a little in the collar bones it wasn't too uncomfortable and I still had crazy airtime. Definitely recommend trying this thing! 8.5/10 👌

It's wierd because they name their rides after water based things and then don't really incorporate the theme into the ride at all. Ice breaker has no ice themed supports or rockwork, and this one has only loose water elements. If they actually had more water involvement it would really make their park standout as a water-ride park chain.

In my honest opinion, Pipeline is the second best ride in the park for me. It wasn’t super uncomfortable and the airtime was incredible and there were some intense positive G’s in the Helicies and that Launch is incredible. A miss on this coaster is the lack of more water features around the track layout. The addition of other water jets that are timed to rise and lower with the coaster trains that move through certain sections such as the low to the ground banked turns or even under the launch bunny-hill would sell the illusion of "surfing" more along with the theme.

I'm not a fan of SeaWorld's new direction but I understand that they were under tremendous pressure to change directions so I have mostly gotten used to it. I'd still prefer them to focus a bit more on theming and continue to build dark rides. I miss Curse of DarKastle, though given that it isn't being replaced with a dark ride I think DarKoaster is about as good as I can expect. I'd also love for dark rides to replace Battle for Eire, Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin and the two Wild Arctic simulator rides but I don't think that'll happen. And BGT really ought to have some kind of dark ride or highly themed boat ride. But that's not their direction so I've tried to not be so upset. And Pantheon is an incredible coaster despite being such a failure in terms of presentation. As for Pipeline, I think it was probably a good business decision. Most responses I've heard from coaster enthusiasts and the general public have been very good and it will draw a lot of attention. I only wonder why they switched to two across trains instead of B&M's traditional 4 across. You'd think a park like SeaWorld would have capacity as a major focus.

I really don't agree at all. I think this feels nothing like a traditional standup coaster as the sensation of really flying up out of the seat and loosing contact is a sensation uncomparable to any other coaster out there. Maybe somewhat like a wooden coaster with buzzbars but the standing and free movement of your bottom half makes it very different from that also. You're also the first one I have heard from who doesn't rank this in the parks top 3. Imo building this was a great decision and and much smarter than building Icebreaker. That ride is actually underwhelming and can't decide what it wants to be as the level of intensity is so uneven through the ride. Also Icebreakers trains SUCK.

@xviper2k
@xviper2k Год назад
It's because SeaWorld, despite their years spent charading as a theme park, literally don't know how to design or maintain something like a dark ride. Just look at the sad state Journey to Atlantis's show scenes are in. They probably removed the show scenes from the later versions of the ride because they knew they were too inept to do it correctly, so they just went with the bare bones experiences you see in San Diego & elsewhere. Their only attempt at a proper dark ride, Antarctica, was universally panned and is already closed despite being one of the park's youngest attractions. If they tried doing a simulator, it would just be Wild Arctic 2.0. Pretty basic stuff, nothing innovative.

I loved Pipeline. I know what you mean about landing uncomfortably, it happened to me twice. The old ones don't do that. I think the bouncing seats are a fun, new and exciting experience that are an evolution in the Standup coaster experience. I couldn't get enough. Not every coaster has to be a stand out, world class thrill machine. Also this is an Orlando ride experience that can't be found anywhere else on earth, for now, which is a win. Its a prototype so the future ones will probably be more extreme. As a former ride operator at Mako, i can tell you that some of the most popular complaints were how the rides are too scary and they don't have enough rides for smaller kids and it's true. All of the big coasters are quite extreme. So this is a little more easy-going but thrilling and is a nice change from the usually blocked off Christmas pathway and adds a nice show of kineticism at the entrance. They have plans in the works for multiple major coasters as long as the funds are available. I initially thought the same that this is more of a filler addition, but those are bound to appear anyway so, hey at least it beauifies a couple of areas and we got a fun new B&M.🎉 idk maybe im easily amused by coasters but i thought it was great, still uncomfortable in new and inventive ways, but unique and great. Just like the old stand-up.

I haven't ridden Pipeline, but I do live in a part of California famous for its surfing (there's a surfing museum, surf championships, multiple surfing-related statues and other monuments, etc., all within 20 minutes of where I live). I've got to say, the theming looks dead-on to this region. The signs and such look like they were transplanted directly from the West Coast. Even the fonts look accurate. The coaster itself wouldn't look out of place at a pier amusement area, either. Most beach attractions here have fairly minimal theming; the beach itself is considered theme enough. I don't know how much of the theming similarity was planned and how much was luck, but it looks ... more accurate than it should? It's only as theme-parky as the actual pier is (the pier has some theme-park vibes in addition to old men fishing off the sides). Odd choice for an actual theme park. Hope that helps!

@@PoseidonEntertainment So I recently had family move from across the country to Central Florida, and I was able to go to the park on a free ticket that came with their annual passes, and we were almost able to do everything we could/wanted in 1 day. The rain kind of took an hour out of it, and of course they insisted on eating at a place that took another hour, and they all hated the food while I was still satisfied from my Panini just outside Mako earlier in the day, but it was fun. Speaking of food, Chicken Pesto Panini was phenomenal for what I was expecting for theme park food. Great size for the cost, but even the flavor was great! I'd have ordered that at a traditional restaurant if I had the opportunity. Right when the park opened, we did Pipeline, and the line was so short we did it back to back. Not bad except for the second time through where the second train was having a problem at the station and we sat out in the sun waiting for 15 minutes for them to unload and launch so they could get it out of our way and finally continue the rest of our day. I experienced a bit of what you were saying about slamming down, but I was always able to keep at least one foot in place and I feel like that greatly diminished the discomfort if it ever occurred. I was weirdly concerned at how understaffed the cues were for the coasters though. We never had a good chance to do Ice Breaker, so I don't know if that had a similar staffing issue, but only Manta had someone directing you where to go. Now maybe it was the heat and a bit of dehydration, but Manta kicked my ass. I wouldn't say that I get motion sick either, and the ride itself was actually quite fun except for me almost losing my glasses, but the worst part was leveling back out, that made me nauseous. We did Kraken immediately after and I had no problem, but again, nobody was directing you were to go. On the one hand, every ride seemed to kind of have a dedicated front row line, and since that was never really our priority, it made getting a seat easier and greatly shrank the wait time, almost like the self checkouts at stores, but at the same time, you have people that want to ride together, and can't count. Like, sorry guys, you're holding up the line, you're going to have to break up or get out of the way. At least Kraken has numbers on the floor, I think it wouldn't be as big of an issue if that were common practice at the other rides if you're not going to have someone direct. It's not ideal, but it's better than nothing. Concerning whether or not Pipeline is a great addition to SeaWorld, I can't really say, I'm not a coaster buff, but given its theme and the surrounding area, it didn't feel out of place. If I have any real discrepancy, it has to do more with just the navigation of SeaWorld. It's not exactly a nicely well laid out park when you try cramming in all these coasters. While Pipeline can be seen just outside the entrance of the park, getting to it was a lot more work than seemed necessary. You had to make a series of turns and even go down a few steps or cut through a restaurant to even get there. Made the waiting time shorter, but since they don't have physical maps you can carry around anymore, and I don't have a phone that can download the app (only one person in our group of fie had the app), it's not exactly intuitive how to navigate the park. After Pipeline, we were trying to make our way to Kraken, and wound up all the way out to Mako, which hey, fantastic ride, but whoops! They're not even close to one another when considering their entrances despite how close the rides' tracks run by one another. Not really much you can do about since it's my choice living in the stone age, but even if there was always room to expand from when I was last there in the mid 2000s, the way the park is laid out just isn't as conducive to how much they're putting in it. Pipeline took a portion of road that was once part of the parking lot, and any future expansions are going to have to do the same, only making navigation worse because the park just was never really initially designed for what it is today. But all in all, it was fun day, and I'd do Pipeline again no problem.

I find your video spot-on and the comments a little too flattering for my experience. Rode it yesterday and loved the music! The ride had shutdown for 30 minutes for repair and the updated surf tunes helped pass the time in line. For me, once I got onboard, I spent the ride squeezing my thighs together to prevent the impact of the center pad popping my crouch area (the three times my feet left the ground). A woman travelling with me expressed the same discomfort. I love SeaWorld and will continue to support it as a season pass member but I did not walk away from Pipeline jacked up like I did after some old favorites coasters and familiar animal shows.

I've been really enjoying the way you highlight decorations now. If you ever manage to visit some parks in Europe I'd highly recommend you visit Phantasialand as well. Their theming is some of the best Europe has to offer and it's all wrapped in a neat small space (the actual park is pretty small!) I think you'll find yourself surprised by some of their family rides as well since, speaking from experience, some of them are actually quite a bit longer than what other parks offer (Efteling, Europapark) and regularly go a whole lot faster than you'd expect. I think this video and the weird side of disney both show that you appreciate the additional effort in these parks which is really fun to watch (as I share this interest :P ) EDIT: Of course I had to remember _after_ posting this that you have made a video about it so you're fully aware that it exists :P In any case, the recommendation still stands for if you ever visit!

I do think that this is fun speculation for a future Disney project , they surely aren’t going to scrap the whole star cruiser so I’m curious how they will integrate it back into the parks once it reopens. I think they should add more “moderate” and less immersive rooms rooms and make this experience larger thus hopefully bringing the price down quite a bit. Also, scrap the shows and missions and just make a unique themed Disney resort. It would be nice to incorporate something into it that only guests of the star cruiser get to enjoy that’s makes it worth wild like perhaps a small immersive character dinner or something unique.

I have especially short legs and I remember when I rode it I was absorbing that force with my legs and knees which was totally comfortable. That being said it definitely felt gimmicky and the experience felt just "good enough". I appreciated your commentary on the theming as the experience is magnified and more memorable. The landscaping, picket fence and water feature are complimentary and better than other non attempts. When walking the gauntlet of long queue lines it's nice to have some visual interest ... more than a TV monitor with advertisements. It takes some getting used to, my first 2 rides were like a struggle to have some sense of comfort, and the seat is very hard and uncomfortable. The vest restraint uselessly pushes into your collar bones and leaves everyone sore in that area. Once I stood in it right and tried to land on my feet after the airtime moments I felt more comfortable. I was left sore in a few places as well as bruised on my biceps, I'm guessing from putting my hands up and having my arms hit on the restraint. I have had 21 rides so far, I'm not an expert, but even when I thought I had it figured out where it wouldn't be uncomfortable, there were still some not so pleasant rides in the "seat area." @@PoseidonEntertainment What do you mean by "inaccessible?" Because I can tell just by looking at them that Universal's coasters are already more intense than this, so that must not be what you mean. Or are you referring to the actual accessibility of the ride, ie the fact that disabled people & guests over a certain height cannot ride? Because a park like SeaWorld having such a ride, with no alternative accommodations, is still very much a problem, there's just no one talking about it. I don't think I've ever seen an Orlando park open a major attraction with such strict limitations on who can ride and who cannot, but no one is discussing it from that angle. Despite its ongoing identity crisis and trying to market itself as "the Six Flags of Orlando," I'm sorry, "the coaster capital of Orlando", SeaWorld still attracts much the same family demographic as the other Orlando parks. It's always been a family-oriented park. They should still be casting a wide net instead of trying to appeal only to able-bodied coaster enthusiasts, but they aren't, because they were an animal park that chose to grovel to ignorant activists who ruined their public image, and now they don't have the budget or know-how needed to reinvent themselves as anything more than just another coaster park. Riddler's Revenge is a traditional B&M standup coaster. It happens to be my favorite one. But Pipeline does have a major difference. Your restraint does not lock in place to fix your standing height so your torso actually moves with the forces of the coaster. That means you have more freedom of movement and can even be lifted up from the platform. It is a much more comfortable approach. Furthermore, the layout of pipeline is less focused on positive G forces that shove your body into the little crotch harness and instead is more graceful and even emphasized airtime which is not typical of the traditional B&M standup coaster.

The last thing I'm thinking about or worried about while flying over a hill or going through an inversions is some sort of cheesey prop. The ride experience is always more important than theme. If people want themed stuff they should to got Disney which is heavily themed & made for kids. Thrills > Theme every day of the week.
@kevinbhieey9188
@kevinbhieey9188 Год назад
I think the problem is with B&M, who sold this theme-first, just so it wouldn't get referred to as "another standup coaster". It really should've been sold by its actual ride feature, like "Airtime Plus Coaster". And then it should've been given all kinds of airtime. SeaWorld needs a family coaster and a smaller airtime coaster would've been great for those afraid to ride Mako. It's really too bad they didn't go this way because this specific ride feature would've made it exciting for families AND coaster enthusiasts. (They're already finding ways to get even more airtime.) That said, SeaWorld does need to lean into being THE Orlando coaster park. Epic Universe is clearly going after Disney's family market with three family coasters and only one thrill coaster - I refuse to consider the racing coaster as two separate coasters. So marquee coasters are the way to go. Iron Gwazi helped BGT's attendance skyrocket. Yes, "the first surf coaster" initially seemed like something that could do that for SeaWorld, but the end result is not living up to the B&M concept art.
