These people sitting on the floor are most probably overseas foreign workers either from Philippines or other East Asian countries. They usually gathered together with friends on their day off, have meal together and sometimes sing karaoke together.

Lau Pa Sat is not a typical hawker centre, prices are on the steep side as it caters more to tourists and the CBD officer workers on weekdays. Try those in Chinatown or one of those satellite towns in the suburbs like Toa Payoh, Tiong Bahru, Bugis area Albert Complex etc.

I feel you can explore outside central Singapore. For example, if you want to go industrial area, you can go to Tuas via the MRT to see all our factories etc. Jurong East/Tampines is another good place with tons of shopping. Sungei Buloh or Bukit Timah Hill (mini hike) or the various nature reserve in Singapore to see nature. The zoos/bird park at Mandai (can be a bit expensive if you guys dun mind). Moreover, there is coast to coast trail/round island route that allows you to walk the whole of Singapore which usually can span a whole day. For your info, the transport is calculated by distance with a max cap of $3 so definitely affordable.

Hi. For the half-boiled eggs, it is bland because you guys did not put in the second bottle of soya sauce which is salty & umami packed (More transparent & liquidy in texture). Pepper also adds dimension to the taste. Will highly recommend you guys re-try with both types of soya sauces & pepper. Remember that the more transparent sauce is really salty, so put in a bit first, and add more if needed 😉

If you live in HDB flat (not private condo), don’t own a car, don’t eat out in restaurants regularly but hawker centres or food courts, don’t drink at bars on regular basis, don’t get children into various training classes, as a middle income professional couple in Singapore, living expenses are manageable. There's no right or wrong way of eating the kaya toast or bun with the soft boiled eggs. My husband doesn't eat the yolks so he'll separate the whites and the yolks without breaking the yolks. Still interesting to watch after 30 years!😊 I'll eat the toast and leave the side- bits without the kaya into the mixed up eggs with a few drops of the light soya sauce and a dash of pepper n let them soaked a while before eating them. Half/soft boiled eggs are eaten with soy sauce and pepper. It's the local's english version of soft boiled eggs with salt and pepper. Wonder why would the guy talked about having it with salt or vinegar. Kaya is the local twist of the western custard or curd. The Hainanese were the last chinese ethic group to arrive from China to to this part of the world. Hence they didn't have much labour choices. Most ended up as cooks in the English kitchen. The kaya toast and eggs is one of the local breakfast influenced by the British.

Singapore has a wide variety of food choices, those food courts without air conditioning are quite affordable. The ones inside shopping malls are not necessarily cleaner; I once bought a bowl of laksa noodle soup at a mall's food court, and there's a small cockroach inside! The Indian clerk refused to give me a refund! Very unpleasant experience. Having said that, the Indian-style curry and flat bread are some of my favorite foods! If you plan to live in Singapore long term, the housing cost is high, especially if you buy a property. Cars are the most expensive in the world, but fortunately you don't really need one because they have good public transportation.

You see people sitting around the CBD areas on the floor with friends because these are usually migrant workers with either live with their employers (as domestic helpers) or in dormitories. @@sunkissedbucketlist If they're domestic workers they make between 700 to 1200 SGD per month, with paid housing (because they have to live with their employers) and food, and employers are responsible for basic health costs. They can choose to spend money at cafes but most want to save and send money home, or to pay for any debt that they might have incurred to come here. Although I am not sure if they are allowed to be picnicking on those pavements, I think as long as they do not become public nuisance & block the walkway, it should be fine.

3:07 Nah it's because people wanna avoid traffic jams actually and secondly, sometimes some roads are closed for either construction of new MRT or some event that needs the road like a marathon or if you noticed the big structure at The Padang, that's one of the reason why no cars are around in the Marina Bay Area/Downtown. But if you go to Orchard Road, that's where you'll see most of the cars at. Crowded. Also 11:14 that area Bugis is known as the Art District. Hence, the art mural. If you go further up the street, you'll find two tertiary Art Institutions, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and Lasalle College of the Arts as well as secondary art school, School of the Arts of SOTA.

It’s not cheap but it isn’t always as expensive as it’s made out to be. You can eat for 2 people for under £10. There’s many free things to do, you can shop on a budget also 👍🏻👍🏻

If Singapore is expensive, where do you think the lower income group lives, eat, and send their kids to schools? A bus driver can live comfortably in Singapore. 😅

Expensive city to **live in**... if you a tourist visiting for a couple of days its quite affordable. The transportation, the food, the brands all can be found below $10. Just that the housing & cars are expensive

You will only know when you experience it yourself and not by rumors from online, Singapore was rated as most expensive city is due to price of car and private apartment, tourist doesn’t need those.

The hotel prices are way above average making it very expensive in that sense for a tourist. But the day to day things can be done on a budget for sure 👍🏻

@@sunkissedbucketlist it do have very cheap budget hotels too if you willing to look around, with as low as only $40 per night such as hotels 81 which you had passed by one in your video.

Also depends on when you come. National Day period (summer holiday for many parts of the world), F1 season etc hotel demand goes up. So it will be expensive.
