Is Single Life a Vocation? // Catholic in America

Speaking as a single, never married, I have encountered this: A man comes to me and says, "Hi, my name is X, do you want to have kids? If you do, let's go for coffee." The cart is a bit before the horse. What happened to getting to know each other, then go on a date or two, you know finding out someones favorite color before having to commit to having kids.

Hope someone can answer my question . But what is a married Catholic priest? I have never heard of that and is that not against church doctrine? Hopefully someone can explain that for me. :)

Single never married woman here... Dont want a mate. No interest in sex. I like being single. I have a hard time living with other people in my space. But is it a vocation ? Not really, its just me.

I've long felt that weirdly single Catholics in their 30s and 40s who claim to have a vocation to singleness is nothing more than a cop-out or what the young people would call a "cope". I have long thought they we need to apply a lesson from our older brothers in the faith, the Jewish people, and begin normalizing the idea of the match maker. Not dating websites with a grand total of 6 people on them, but actual match makers. We have wise late-middle aged woman in our parishes who are naturally fitted to this role. Let's start utilizing this human resource. And that means the clergy will need to start promoting the idea.
