Congratulations to @RGEE1979 @simonemartinello7528 @stevenmcdade8392 who all won codes. If you've not had them yet email me and I'll provide them. Cheers
A very fair review and accurate summary of this game, PG, if I may say so. I played it at its inception back in the day as Sensible Soccer (peerless football game of its kind) and, 30 years later, as the Apple TV reinvention from a few years ago and, whilst I felt it was good at the start of this new reboot, it lost momentum far too quickly, lacked further development and ended up as a far worse game a year after its introduction. As you say, the AI lacks polish (goalkeepers, etc.) to make it really addictive like the original game, so I too would wait 6 months or so and see if they put more effort into mending these problems and nurturing the game further (a master league, as you say, is a big "miss" for us retro gamers, with more sophisticated management options) and then make a decision on purchasing it.
Team I follow: SWOS United, Why I'd like a code: I'd like to see how it compares to the very first version of SWOS which I picked up for Amiga back when the game very first released, and which I've continued to play to this day. Cheers to Jon Hare and the team for such a fantastic game.
Fair enough! Just bought this on Switch. Way too easy, goals two a penny, and being a Torquay United fan this is an alien experience to me. Don't understand why Jon Hare didn't rip off the first 3 seconds of the sensi theme at the start. Goal animations, I wish I could disable them. Sometimes press x to advance, b to skip. Annoying. Plus no edit modes to create your own competitions. Also only one world comp can be run at a time. Back in the day at bbqs we'd set up our own comps with a mix of player and CPU teams. This game is ok, it strikes me a bit "disney does sensi" from the general style and to me they've thrown out their heritage to create a so so game. It's not bad, but their heritage was to create the best. Thanks for the review. I'd have bought the game anyway and then wished I didn't.
I hear you, I think Sensible World of Soccer will always be the true football fans point of origin for quality football experiences. I see so many indie devs trying to copy the formula, actually, a couple I've played recently did it quite well so stay tuned for those reviews coming soon.
Hey PG, thanks for the review. Ane congrats for the rebrand :) I'd be happy to get a code but i dont have any good reason why i shoudl be chosen lol And my fav team is A.S. Roma. Take care and regards in advance for new years eve! P.s. there is a cool game called dredge. Id love to see your review on it.
Edit: looks like I missed the competition as I was away for a fortnight 😂😭 I'm old, I'm a Swansea fan and need something to celebrate 😂... I also asked for this video on your earlier SWOS video ^^ - sad to hear this doesn't have a proper career mode. I'd love to see your review of Super Soccer Blast if you can get your hands on it (currently on sale on the Switch but I can't imagine that being the best version), that seems to have a decent team and player editor, too... That this one sorely needs, I thought because it touted FIFPRO on its Steam page it would have been fully licensed, sad to hear it's not. Gameplay looks stellar though, especially for that 1v1 in the same room as a buddy, few beers in tow!
Yes the devs have given me codes to give away, as yet they haven't been responded to, if they are never claimed I'll speak to the devs about re-considering the winners.
@@PlayGames_PG @PlayGames_PG I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞but no worries if not. Hope you're doing well mate! Noticed you've been pumping the reviews out so far in 2024, are you thinking of taking the channel to the next level, or just a bit of free time?
Since mid September I've been doing an intensive modding project on PES and it's taking a lot of my spare time. But should be finished in March and then I'll get up to date on my 30+ edits that are outstanding!
I like the character models and the graphics, football games don't need to look ultra realistic, cartoon representations of the players are fine for me, the big problem i have with this is that there's not really a lot to do single-player wise, no fun game modes, it's really built for online and local multiplayer
I think have camera options is always welcome, but agreed the Sensi view is probably the most iconic. I haven't played it since the review but I did hear from the dev saying they had worked on the keepers, but again, not tried it since so can't confirm 100%.
I agree I do miss the pixel art style, try Pixel Soccer or Super Arcade Football, they are good sensi type games. Here is a playlist of football games: ru-vid.com/group/PLOSvirXZDxfAIbgrpZBoAPrptWobe4fJB
