Who were the best players to have on Sensible World Of Soccer? 😇🖱👌 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= More Amiga Games: tinyurl.com/AMIGA-GAMES My Top Picks: tinyurl.com/CCGS-BEST-GAMES
You’re completely right - when my brothers and I put this on back in the early 90s, it really wasn’t that hard to convince ourselves we were watching the real thing. The level of authenticity they managed to achieved through such a simple format was fantastic. SWOS was the best game ever.
Still has to be the best football game out there for me, purely based on the arcade style action where you could just 'get a game going' without all the new fandangled control systems of modern football games. Tap to pass. Hold to shoot. What more did we need back in the early 90s 😇🕹️👌
The one thing am glad about is that the graphics of the player sprites remained the same throughout. Its those awesome 12 pixel high sprites that we all remember the most about the game. Iconic for Sensible Software games and therefore you definitely deserve massive credit there ❤️😇🕹👌 definitely defined a whole new genre
110% the best football game still around mate, just started playing this again, as my Amiga has just been fixed after 20 odd yrs in the loft 😂 Brilliant stuff dude! 👍
You're not kidding, this is the ultimate best football game ever made for pure addictiveness by far. Good to see you're getting your Amiga out and playing it in its native form.... pure nostalgia, as soon as the intro music comes on its like a rush of pure excitement. It also brings me right back those early times almost instantly 😇🕹👌
Ah man. You just reminded me of the Euros of 1992. How we didn't manage to win that year with players like De Boer, Rijkaard, Bergkamp, Van Basten, Gullit that year still amazes and hurts me to this day. Great game too!
Holland were unstopabble back in the early 90s. I particularly liked Richard Witschge, he was superb if you had him on Sensible Soccer! He also played for Blackburn Rovers for 1 game... which is the town I lived in back in the early 90s. Funny thing was - an unimpressed Witschge later made an outspoken attack on Blackburn, branding the Lancashire town and its inhabitants "poor and ugly" hahaha... he was right though! 😇🕹️👌
Fantastic game. I remember one that was almost identical. Football Glory, I think it was. You could do volleys and bicycle kicks in it, and you had streakers running onto the pitch. Other than that it was basically a copy of this.
Football Glory was decent although a lot 'wilder'.. in that you could slide tackle players from 20 yards away. Making for a fast frantic football experience 😇🕹⚽️👌
Such an iconic game series. I particularly loved SWOS.. I think I won the Champions League with Ítróttarfelag Fuglafjarðar, abbreviated to IF, of the Faroe Isles haha some achievement! Dont think I would have those kinds of skills now. I'd just spend all the seasons funds on the best goalkeeper I could afford and hope for the best. Great days 😇🕹️👌
Big time buddy, top game this... I was literally hooked on this. Every night after school I'd fire up the Amiga and play 4 or 5 games before Tea was ready. Then plough through a season straight after - brilliant memories 😇🕹️👌
Haha aye I had some epic games with my brother on this - my greatest achievement was winning the Champions League with some tin top team from the Faroe Isles. All I needed was a decent keeper and Tim Sherwood. Cheap midfielder from Blackburn Rovers but he could whack it hard from outside the box 🤣😇⚽️🕹👌
Spent soooo many hours on these games. Still beats any game today in playfield overview. My neighbour's boyfriend played in the Italian league div 2 or 3. It was surreal having someone I knew in a game.
That's mad, I had a friend called Lynette Craig and her uncle was playing for Falkirk in Scotland so we used to always buy him for our current squads hahaha a shame he was crap though 🤣🤣😇🕹👌
I bet your palms were sweaty after holding out 2-2 with the legend himself! That took some doing, as he was at a Play Expo event one year and was thrashing everyone... alas, I wasn't there that day haha 😇🕹️👌
SENSIBLE SOCCER Definitely the best soccer game since KICK OFF. Me and my friends played a legendary Amiga game SENSIBLE WORLD OF SOCCER last time in an autumn 2021 😺👍🕹️🕹️. I still have MICROPROSE SOCCER for my Commodore 64 as a disk version in a compilation called SOCCER STARS. I also have MANCHESTER UNITED: PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP for my Amiga 500 - CiB - with the red coloured disks 😺👍.
I actually enjoyed the Man Utd game, was pretty decent. Am sure I had that for the Mega Drive. The cheat was something like 'three shredded wheat' for the best players 🤣🤣 memories 🕹👌
What a beautiful game. I went through half a dozen joysticks for the amiga playing Sensi heheh. I think it came out for the sega too at some stage, but the ball stuck to the player's feet so it didn't require the skill of the commodore version. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Makes me want to play it again. Now.... where's my amigaCD ?
Yeah, the Sega version was more 'sticky-feet'... its the version that's on the Evercade handheld too which makes it a bit too easy. The Amiga version is and will always be the definitive version of this awesome and purely addictive footie game 😇🕹👌
Bout time i been keeping up with the back catalog, because the back catalog is keeping up with you!!! So... I thought it was called Football or Footie? That's fun!! Thank you for showing this one off, i just don't see myself bootin up the amiga for it!...ok.... well maybe ;) I just don't know any positions, rules, teams or anything! LOL!!! ohh, I just had a microwavable goblin style steak and kidney pie!! SO AVERAGE!
No there were many who gave up with pure frustration. My lad is one of them hehe. Mind you, after all these years of practice I should go easy on him now and then but I can't resist 🤣⚽️👌🕹
Your love for SS in all its versions flows out of this video! I was a fan back in the day of course, but I actually prefer Kick Off 2 nowadays (sacrilege I know) and Player Manager was an awesome game too..
It's the nostalgia that comes with it, the hairs on my arms literally stand up when I hear the theme from the original Sensible Soccer at the beginning of the video, as it brings me right back to when I first got my Amiga. Best memories ever 😇🖱🕹👌
It has a steep learning curve as the ball doesn't 'stick' to the feet. Unless you play on a Sega Mega-Drive/Genesis... as they diluted the games controls to give a more authentic arcade feel. However, the Amiga version will always be the flagship Sensible Soccer to really cut your teeth on 😇🕹⚽️👌
Good times indeed. I'd sit through long sessions, sometimes even completing a full season. Love it to this day too... one of the best football games ever released 😇🕹👌
i am not a huge lover of footie games but i do like this set a lot, there was even an amiga christmas cover disk sensi vs canon called canon soccer it was only tiny but worth the mag just for that, it put a different spin on it and talking of CF you know if a soldier is not fully dead and crying you can still keep shooting him to help him along his way and it still makes a noise.
Yeah - Cannon Soccer, I had that coverdisk too... legendary memories. As for shooting the soldiers, a great feature was that randomly some soldiers would scream out when they'd been shot. There is a video of this on the channel which actually makes a point of this little graphical wizardry that was thrown in by the legendary Jon Hare 😇🕹️👌
Fifa was great for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, as I had that too... but I always will return to SWOS, as it just seemed to be the much more addictive of the two 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Right about time I got massively into point and click graphic adventures. Monkey Island, Indy, Tentacle, Sam and Max, full throttle!
You're right, this is the definitive game for all football fanatics. Sod your Fifa's, if you can master SWOS then you're a legend of the sport. Superg games 😇🕹️👌
its the playabilty of the game you I used to play it for hours liked management side when I could take my team Gillingham all the way to premier league and win all the cups aswell the messages were great when it said you have a vote of confidence and had only a few games to either improve or have to get to point you could sell players to get out of debt for me know football game comes close to it
The game is flawless apart from the fact that 90% of your players would lose value, which was a shame... other than that, absolutely brilliant game 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer yea that was annoying you could have defenders keep loads of clean sheets and strikers and wingers play well scoring goals and value go down if I remember rightly the only player that seemed to go up in value was the central striker
Absolute classic on Amiga and far better than the PC version which I thought played too quickly. The version for Amiga got it just right and delivered one of the best football games of all time that still holds up today. The novelty teams were so good too, teams made up of sweet names or biscuit names for example. This format still works today, havent Microprose released something recently that looks identical on Steam? I will say it though... Sensi is way better than Kick Off (in my opinion anyway).
Am with you that Sensible Soccer was miles better than Kick Off, but am seeing there are many out there who preferred the Dino Dini classic footie game. Too fast on the PC yeah and on the consoles they just seemed to make the game incredibly easy with the 'sticky feet' dribbling... cant beat the classic Amiga Sensi and I'd chose them as my 'go to' versions anyday 😇🕹️👌
@@CheekyCommodoreGamer Player Manager is worth a look too. You could load your team and tactics into KO2. Definitely gave an advantage against my mates.
you just can't make this stuff up lol " A murderer who battered a man to death previously starred in the iconic "Accrington Stanley, who are they?" advert as a child, the ECHO can reveal. Kevin Spaine was yesterday found guilty of the murder of Learoy Venner, who was repeatedly punched and kicked in a brutal assault at a flat on Belmont Drive in Anfield. The 43-year-old today returned to Liverpool Crown Court to be sentenced, where he was jailed for life with a minimum term of 18 years. John Harrison KC, appearing on behalf of the killer, told the court during his sentencing that his client was formerly a "very promising young footballer" and even starred in the famous television ad for the Milk Marketing Board in 1989. Spaine was one of two boys seen in the clip, clad in Liverpool FC kits. "
It's got to be the best footie game ever for sure - I have it on my evercade (Blaze Evercade - Codemasters Collection 1) and still play it pretty regularly... alas, this is only the Mega-Drive version which has more 'sticky foot' control and is much much more easier to score 😇🕹️👌
Am sure you can, theres a load of cheap ones on Chinese online stores like 'Ali Express' etc, if you dont mind waiting a few weeks for delivery. They're cheap & cheerful but they do the trick 😇🕹️👌
Kick Off 2 is the best. Takes a long time to become good, but it has far more longevity than SS. We played KO2 every day for over ten years. It never got boring.
Cool games are definitely subjective but I know that even now there are players who'd even prefer the original Fifa over Sensible Soccer and quite a few who loved Kick Off 2 (which was another awesome game). Was so lucky to have so many awesome games made on the Amiga... such a great era to have lived through 😇🕹👌
Kick Off 2 was proper "ave it!" football. It simulated the game better by making you work hard just to get the rudementary passing and dribbling skills. Sensi was just too easy to pick up and play like Messi's Barca without much effort. Player Manager was even better though.
