Living in Sri Lanka, I am very happy and relaxed. I realized that happiness does not lie in money, possessions and property, nor in going abroad. It is not poverty or politicians that steal happiness. Happiness, freedom and peace are really within oneself. For someone who understands that, even if the whole world burns, the happiness and peace in his heart will not be lost.
Specially sri lanaka most people Buddhist in Buddhist culture naturally practicing generosity, loving kindness, simplicity and happiness Sri Lankan's knows suffering is the nature because of Buddhist teachings
Most of these people think all the problems are confined to the Island and they easily blame politicians for everything . Some says they want to go to other countries. The truth is whole world was at slow state due to Covid impact prevailed over 2.5 years. Now we can see many sections of economy are getting into progressive mode and the country is recovering fast. Thankyou for visiting Sri Lanka.
Most of people are happy..because of the teaching us about minimalist life by buddihsm....but the problem is mixed up with invation of foriegn cultures(westernized) and capitalism makes that pure mind vanished...
Iam from sri lanka,Sri lanka most beautiful country in the world and we have lot of things ,beautiful forest beautiful water fall, beautiful lake and nice wether ,but sri lankan political system very corrupt ,
Most sri lankans believe that simplicity is happiness. I believe that too. but when a country does not exist money matters, the people in that country faces many mental issues like depression. So sometimes I feel like every country in the world is sad even a little bit. That's the ultimate truth of life.
Hi Guys, As a tamil srilanka is my mother land full of nature and resources, but peoples in power in old days wanted to create the troubles to win the elections, I am sorry to say the majority of singalease not well educated specially in village sides so they trust whatever their leaders said, not now i am happy to see most of the srilankan well tended, educated they understand what we lost by unwanted war, lost our valuable youths both sides, lost full of resources but still some few percentage of peoples will be in both communities to create troubles , I don't think so it will work. If you ask tamil even north and east about how singalease I am 100% confident 99.9% will say ther are the best.
Depending how one would define "happiness" living in SL... That said, Sri Lankan people are culturally very hospitable, kind and always with a smile regardless of hardship.... I was born and raised in Sri Lanka, before making a conscientious decision to leave the country 20 plus years ago for many reasons. The two most radical reasons which impacted my decision to leave the Island nations was it's governance (corrupt to the core) and lack of opportunities. My last visit to SL was Dec'24 after nearly 8yrs, and my heart went out to folks that are struggling to make ends meet. The Island nation has so much to offer and it's beauty attracts many around the world but it's politicians have consistently managed to enable the pearl of the Indian ocean to its declining status.... How SAD!
Happiness is a far fetched word. You cannot define happiness by a country or place. Happiness has to come from within. I am Sri Lankan and I love my motherland dearly but I cannot say this about the people, I mean not all but the majority of them. Afterall, citizens maketh a country, like reading maketh a man. Sri Lanka is definitely paradise if only the majority of people can change their attitude, be less selfish, non-judgmental, less opportunistic, patience, kind, caring, less hot tempered, less intoxicated, the list is endless. Our country is a blessing and would be a heaven on earth, if only people live as preached by Lord Buddha. His Lordships preaching was divine. IF ONLY🤔. I LOVE MY COUNTRY NEVERTHELESS. ❤
I'm sri lankan, but I don't think the people of sri lanka are genuinely happy with the current standards of life but we sri lankans have the ability of making the best out of what we have and what we get... Life maybe hard for many but the people are strong enough to wear a smile and get about their lives trying to make it a happy place without drowning in sadness and depression.
