People in Sri Lanka are used to live with government subsidized good and services. When government no longer can provide these for low prices, people experience real market prices of goods and services; which people called expensive.
I've just returned to Spain ( I'm British) after spending 17 amazing days in Sri Lanka . Loved it and felt totally safe . Even thinking of booking again for next year . Beautiful country with even more beautiful people .
I was there last year during the political crisis and nothing happened to me, I felt safe everywhere, so I’m sure it’s super safe also now. Going back to amazing Sri Lanka soon and I can’t wait 🇱🇰✈️
Full of corrupt no law and order the singhalese hiding for foreigners because for business but really they are talking about entire body of government still running by rajabaksha criminals
Sri Lanka is total paradise on earth, I felt they are best people on the globe with amazing smile on their face no matter how hardship they face . Being a pakistani traveller I visit sri lanka every year for my vocation and holidays , they are best I. every aspect of life , well mannaered and educated people I recomed every body to visit Sri Lanka before they die , amazing hospitable people
I have sooooo much respect for Sri Lankans. They are always the kindest, most welcoming people. And the way they protested. They are truly brave and courageous. Just a very beautiful country and people!
I've lived here in Sri Lanka for over 3 years since before Corona and through the civil unrest last year. Never felt unsafe at anytime. People are great, love living here.
Hi! Is it possible to swim in the sea in May in South coast? Me and my family are done with all booking and only after realized that it’s a monsoon season😳
Sri Lanka is an amazing country, amazing people, amazing places. So many places to see (specially the palace on the mountain)elephants, coconuts . I would love go there someday and see all those things. Love from Bangladesh and USA.
Thank you for supporting Sri Lanka.. actually its getting better now than the last year.. And for foreigners its safe to visit and they can enjoy a lot.. ❤️
Regardless of whatever happens in Sri Lanka or in politics, the country is always safe for foreigners. Most Sri Lankans think foreigners create an interesting vibe, so they like to be around them.
I was born in Sri Lanka and I've grown up in London since I was 4, and I last visited in 2009. Like i watch these videos because I want to go back so much, and by watching this I feel like I'm there in a funny little way. Insha'Allah I'm going to visit this year!!!!
Sri Lanka has been always safe for tourists. Even during the political turmoil last year. No tourists had any issues except the energy crisis as some hotels had power cuts for several hours per day.
@@rathy_v Well, not safe for terrorists of cause, Not here in Sri Lanka every country will crush them using military activity. Regardless of your nationality, you will be eliminated from the face of the earth if you are performing terrorist activity. It's simple logic. But for any other ordinary Tamil people (who are living and doing business eg. in "Wellawatta"- a town close to the capital) Muslims and Christians it's safer than heaven.
@AndromedaX1 eliminate your terrist criminal former president rajabaksh bro and his gangsters who set up Easter bomb 💣 for six churches. singhalese are still afraid. They never know what going to happen to them if they open and talk about rajabaksh terrist. They set up East bombed to kill tamils singala.Christians, and foreigners( tourist)to capture the power. And became president and MP'S and ministers British CHANNEL 4 NEWS well documented, reasonly about who set up the terrist attack. The government is never going to investigate .victims are crying for help, no law and order, tourists careful currently lot of robbed and criminal activities are going on based on a lot of local sources . This guy is also one of the gangsters who need to be arrested because he is a member of the rajabaksha terrorist organization and threading for justice Srilanka is not safe for Tamil people and Hindu and Christians Tourists, careful now they begging you for meal and feud..in the northeast they already started another ethnic clenching
As a Sri Lankan who has an immense love for my country, I was literally left in tears of joy after reading the lovely comments of many travelers who has visited Sri Lanka. We are so privileged to have people from all over the world to support us when we're going through tough times. But I must insist that my country is getting better and all of us are looking forward to making Sri Lanka a better place so that all our beloved visitors can have an undelible experience here. Thank you @doug_barnard for posting this video and I pay my gratitude to all who have commented on behalf of my country. Hope our hospitality will leave lasting imprints in your Sri Lankan itinerary. ❤
@@TheRohitsharma1234 What the hell is going on with you guys? Why is there such a divide between North and South? You are all people of the same country, right? And Why do North Indians always put South Indians down? Really curious to know the reason
I visited Sri Lanka in mid December. Stayed in Unwatuna, Colombo and Sirgiria. Visited Candy and other places. Never did we feel unsafe anywhere. Beautiful country with beautiful hearts. I will recommend everybody to visit at least once before the beautiful jungles are replaced by the concrete jungle. Passing thought, don't charge 40 every time I visit the public loo.😅
Thank you Doug Barnard, my brother! Warm welcome to our country! Pearl in the Indian ocean! Good heart people, green surrounding and so on! Again welcome to my motherland 😊
It was always safe last year, tourists had no problems at all the locals made sure everyone was looked after. The issue for tourists was that there were shortages of a lot of things mainly due to a fuel crisis, but if people went with the flow they would always be looked after well. That crisis is over, so it will be safe anyway, and as tourist numbers are not anywhere near capacity it will be a very good choice this year.
World 🌍 best travel destination 2023 according to forbs travel destination 2023 ..🌷🇱🇰 best country for 🐳 whale watch and asian elephants .you can see beautiful tea garden .ceylon tea from sri lanka 🇱🇰 beautiful mountains beautiful water falls ..beautiful beaches historical ancient citys include buddhist temples ..visit sri lanka 🇱🇰 2023
8:30 😂 Although we have much more to do to recover, Sri Lanka is definitely getting better than where we were last year. We got a record number of tourists in the last 3 months too.
It is so weird to see how negative these youngsters are man lol. They were so hyped to critisis their own country even when Sri Lanka is getting better and recovering slowly. Negative mindset soo sad.
@@tharindulakshan1691 That's because they were fed with bull-cr^p of some political parties, and they don't have any time to differentiate what are the real facts and lies.
@@watch7105 when they were asked whether the conditions are improving in Sri Lanka their response was " No it is getting worse, it is always worse here". Lol I dont see them critisising a politician here but definetly they were giving a political opinion which was not relevant at all.
There are some political party's who can not exists without crisis and poor people. They always promoting sri lanka as worst country. Some people trust them and promote them.
It's amazing how clean and developed Sri Lanka is on an infrastructure basis considering the economic turmoil and lower GDP per capita. They punch above their weight!
Thanks very much for this video of Colombo Sri Lanka. This is like a promotional video for tourism in SL. 🎉🎉🎉. Sri Lanka needs millions of tourists to help the country pick itself back to normal. Tourists bring in the dollars. That’s what the country needs to pay for the essential imports. Fuel, medical equipment, medicines, milk powder, etc.🎉

As a Sri-Lankan, I’m here to say, yes it can be safe, but sometime’s in certian areas you need to keep hold of your personal items, as for, they might get stolen or smuggled.
OMG I'm leaving for Sri Lanka for work this Saturday. I'm so nervous!! But it looks like it'll be good. Traveling for work is cute but you're alone, so hopefully I figure it all out!
Sri lanka is very safe we have fuel and no powercuts but Inflation has hit Sri lankans very hard but dont worry the currency depreciation will more than compenstate the only thing to worry is the is the traffic
What ever protests happens it's only in the city of Colombo ...and generally tourists don't really visit Colombo they visit the ruins, the beach ,the mountains, and the safari parks .. if you don't see it on TV you even don't know any protest was there.
Depressing to hear the local youngsters being so pessimistic. At least the older Mohammed of Bombay sweets, shouldn't that be Mumbai sweets , was more positive. We don't say "chai" in Sri Lanka, tea is Te pronounced with an h in the middle. Also the sea around Galle face green is not conducive for swimming, you need to go a couple of miles further south for that.
Broh they not being pessimistic they were only talk the hidden truth. Ofcz it's not effect on foreigners at all. But for locals it's difficult. Hopefully next election will change this bad situation for permanently
Love your video ❤ I was unsure about coming back (last visit was 2017), but now I've decided to, for next year. It breaks ny heart to see the economy so bad there, I hope it will pick up sooner or later.
Sri Lanka's tourism industry is a significant contributor to the country's economy, offering a range of attractions such as tropical beaches, ancient ruins, and wildlife reserves. Outdoor activities like hiking, surfing, and wildlife safaris are popular. The government promotes sustainable tourism practices and is working to revive the industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.😊😊
April 14th is Sinhalese and Tamil new year. You may witness many new year festivals all around the country. So many foods, music , dancing , sports , many more.... 🎉
Nowadays sri lanka has no political unrests and it's very stable. there is power always, and fuel shortage is largely mitigated. The cost of foods, essential items, and houses can be high compared to the income of the locals, but if you are a foreigner then it might not be a huge challenge especially if you are from any western country. I think these days are best for any foreigner to visit as not a lot of them visit the country due to what happened in the last year. They are in the notion that the country is still in chaos. So feel free to explore the beauty of the country and see things around, and support the local economy if you want to support us. the best cities in sri lanka are colombo, galle, kandy, nuwara eliya, matara, jaffna, Sigiriya, anuradhapura, polonnaruwa, mirissa, Negombo, unawatuna, hikkaduwa, tangalle, bentota, weligama.
Sri Lanka is in a much better condition than it was before. If you come to Sri Lanka, you can spend the best days of your life.😊 Sri lanka has the best hospitality in the world 🌎.It is the best country for training ❤
Bro! Great video, 1st time watching 1 of your vids & was curious about Sri Lanka after reading ‘Seven Moons of Maali Almeida’. I gotta check it out for sure now!
Truly speaking now sri lanka is safe and also stable under the new president. If you consider 1 year back there were huge fuel queues, gas ques and 13 hour power cuts. All credit goes to our new president.
Totally untrue, Ranil Rajapakse is a puppet and a dictator who has no mandate of people. He was at right time and the right place. Nothing else. He has proved himself a failure by 23 election defeats
Oh my god the negative mindset of those young people is in a another level. They were soo hyped to critisis and give you a negative view of their own country even when the country is recovering. such a shame. And they say they are university selected, lol what a disappointment. By the way for everyone who is planning to come to Sri Lanka it is totally safe. things are getting better than last year, there are no fuel shortages, no powercuts, you wont see ques. So yes Sri Lanka is slowly recovering and it will take some time to fully recover but anyone can come here and enjoy cause it is very safe here.
@@deshalpandithage4208 Yeah, I was suprised to see that too. Guess they were expressing their political view which was not relevant at all. And got no idea about how the country is recovering, they are in total denial.
@@tharindulakshan1691 They talked about local's life, They said it is safe for foreigners. Do you guys actually think Country is going better, That is why we facing this issue last 70 years. Happy to see young people don't follow adult perspective on politics. Actually Future will be good for Sri Lanka.
@@pcspictures312 why cant you accept the fact that Sri lanka is recovering?, why are you soo negative you are just being political just like them, tell me from the situation of last year didnt we see improvement now?. Dont you see the inflation rate is going down?, do you get long power cuts like last year, do you see long fuel ques, I dont represent any party but im aware of how the country is slowly recovering but you cant accept it cause you are clinged into politics thats not my problem it is yours.
@@pcspictures312 And I did not say things are better I said things are getting better slowly and it will take some time. Being negative and critisising everything is not good as you say, even when the country is recovering. And you said all the young population are like this? No, There are plenty of people young and adults who understand and realised the recovery of Sri lanka from the crisis. It seems you dont. We need more more reforms and and increased anti corruption methods as well as the will of people thats what I beleive but that does not mean we should always be negative and complaining.
