Just re-downloaded it and it's more dead than EA's battlefront 2. It's sad I was so excited for this game. Aspyr really blew it with this one, thank God there not doing the KOTOR remake anymore

if the remastered offered mod support for all platforms, cross-play, and added character customization this would of been worth the 30 dollars. It's sad to see this game dead after couple months. I barely see anyone online especially on Fridays or Saturdays. I honestly hope the developers turn this game around

I forgot to mention about crossplay, that is one of the biggest mistakes that they made even before release. A game without crossplay in todays gaming is just doomed from the start even if it doesn’t have any bugs

Honestly this is spot on. The game itself is good, the graphics are better and it’s on next gen. The online multiplayer was their selling point of the game and it let down thousands of players including me and so many refunded the game because of that reason. If only things were different for the online servers from day 1 :(

While i am disappointed, i still hold out hope for this version to make a comeback. Cause (if were taking the age of these games out of the picture for a sec), if no man sky and cyber punk can make a comeback after the reception they received, then if aspyer is smart enough, they can too.

I was super excited for the release and they just completely ruined it. TBH I'll be sticking to classic BF2, I won't be buying it out of principal even if they completely fix it and the came suddenly comes alive again, though I hope the people who did buy it get the updates and polish they deserved at launch.

I still play it, and im currently working on a video about it right now myself and honestly, it's pretty dead right now, but I think after a while, the player base will eventually come back. The biggest hope for this game gaining popularity again would be for it too launch into gamepass because I'm not going to lie I was mad when the game launched as well but for the most part the game is mostly fixed and it's very playable I have a lot of fun playing it with friends.

Cross play or the game going on sale must happen or the game will definitely die(acting like it’s not already dead). The game is great besides the lack of playable lobbies and the amount of time you’ll get disconnected which is happening at an increased rate.

Used to play this game with my brother growing up and glad to get to experience it again! I haven't tried the online mode, and will try it soon, but just being able to experience both games with local multiplayer or solo has been great and IMO worth it

This isn’t a jab at Aspyr solely, but I don’t understand how modern video games are consistently launched in broken states. I can’t think of a game that’s worked even mostly well at launch that’s come out in recent years. But in mid 2000s we had games like Halo, CoD, etc that worked out of the box. I would think with more money in the video game industry than ever before things would be more polished and have more content. But in actuality things seem to be going backwards. Games launch with less content and in more broken states than their predecessors.

I feel like they rush the game to come out to get that initial crazy amount of money and then use some of it to fix the issues maybe, but I’ll never understand that because by the time they fix the game and it’s in a “good” place it has like 10% of the player base left

Bought it on Xbox. Haven't touched it since the end of March. Switched back to the original 2005 Steam version on my laptop, way better online.

played it back in the day, mostly offline. Still playing the CD-ROM version of Battlefront 1 on PC to this day, enjoying awesome mod maps. Got it on Switch to be able to play it on the go and it's quite fun but it has some weird speaker busting audio bugs the original release just never had.

It is very strange how there are bugs/imperfections that weren’t even a thing in the original games, like the directional audio was the wrong way round on release too

@@hamsanner yeah, that has me dumbfounded as well. They f'd up the iconic loading beeps as well, but at least they managed to fix that. I'm still a bit disappointed that they went for the bare minimum rather than using the opportunity and fixing some stuff from the og game (for example, when you play instant action in BF1 and you want to leave the game/mode after a battle you can't. You have to load the next map and then end the game through the pause menu. You simply cannot do that from the stat screen that is shown after a battle. Why not fix smth like this?). Instead we get weird audio bugs, weirdly large ai upscaled textures that increase the file size by a factor of 5 and only English vocal localization despite the original releases featuring multiple languages. Sure, English isn't an issue per se, but if they wanna sell me nostalgia they should at least include the same localization options as the original. Since I played the game in German as a child, its the German voice lines that are iconic to me, rather than the English ones. Imagine growing up with lines like "just like the simulations" and "watch those wrist rockets" and years later you play a remake of this game and all of a sudden the voice lines are Spanish. I mean, contrary to Spanish, I have no issue understanding the English voice lines but it's a part of childhood memory that's missing, I guess you get the point I'm tryin' to make

I still play this game a good bit on the switch. Playing the classic games handheld late at night in my bed is wonderful. Id love to play it more on ps5 but the one thing keeping me from doing that the fact tht the first patch broke the legendary award medals. Once you get them to legendady they should be permanently unlocked but they are not.

It was probably spoken about in the comments already, but I think the 1 cent thing is because you now have 501 in the price. This is probably a reference to the 501st Legion, a group of clone troopers under Darth Vader's command. I believe.

What's quite sad is that for a much cheaper price on Xbox X/S the OG Battlefronts 1 and 2 look nearly as good as the classic collection in terms of graphics already.

I own the collection on playstation as well and I really only noticed issues after update 1 released which caused first and third person views to randomly switch back and forth and now with update 2 I somehow can't even scroll through the servers to select one. Before that I was getting booted out of servers(not sure how) but it happened quite a bit and I only stopped playing online when update 2 came out and now just goof around offline. Just curious if anyone else was getting booted or having the first and third person views swapping back and forth randomly or am I the only one?

Yea I have the same issue with the server scrolling. I just mash the bumpers or triggers until I’m able to scroll through servers. The viewpoint bug I have that issue too

The server browsing is weird, it gets stuck scrolling left to right at the top of the screen, messing around with the controller helps this though. As for the 1st/3rd person issues I’m not sure :/

I’m playing on switch, and funnily enough it seems like it may have run best at launch on switch. Still a little buggy, but honestly I had a fraction of the errors that I saw on everyone’s videos. The lobbies were almost full for me after the first update came out but it’s been steadily declining since then. Don’t wanna say it, but yeah, it’s dying. 😢

@hamsanner yea, it was, I mean, remember on the psp renegade and elite squadron? Those two games where basically battlefront 3 but ported and split, I mean if they added all that to the psp version which back then psp games where more like ahead of ps1 games but not quite ps2 games. If they can manage to add ground to space combat on the psp, imagine the game on the ps3 and 360! It would've been legendary! I will say though that on the psp on elite squadron the concept of conquest was nice on how you can fight from the ground to space and to even the home ship interiors, but the ion cannons are what kinda ruined it for me imo sorta, since after a couple games you realize all you gotta do is get the command post with the ion cannon then destroy the capital ships shield then board it and destroy the reactor rinse and repeat sure you can spawn inside your capital ship and use the ships ion cannon to destroy ground command posts but the hardware was limited so there wasn't to many ai on the ground while you where in space. But I heard that on the ps3 and Xbox 360 that bf 3 would of let you control the capital ships which is crazy sadly we never got it

Aspyr just doesn't care, any other game dev would have released a day one patch or fixed all the problems as soon as they could, in general I don't like the practice of "release it first finish it later" and I've also never seen that ideology ever work out but even games like that would have fixed a launch as catastrophic as this. I've been keeping up with this just to see if it's been fixed, 2 months and it seems no different from how it was a week after it was released, I don't think Aspyr cares, it's not gonna be fixed or revived. Hopefully 2040 we'll get some Star Wars releases that aren't depressing.

Dead game, it's not just the online play that has issues, I've noticed several bugs in offline play, particularly Instant action. The Wookies don't spawn on Kashyyyk anymore, you don't get given award weapons for reaching legendary status, and the opposition never use their Hero/Leader character. How can aspyr get this so spectacularly wrong?

I will admit the game has some massive flaws and problems, but somehow I still enjoy the multiplayer mode despite the bugs and glitches and teleportation stuff that happens for me. I also record gameplay footage of it while I'm talking about some stuff on my RU-vid channel, especially with the Ubisoft situation

I still don't understand why the classic collection is so huge on disk space. 50 GB. Battlefront 1 and 2 together would be 8 GB, so where does the extra 42 GB come from? The models don't look like they're higher poly, the textures don't look particularly high res, I don't see an improvement in the graphical rendering. There's a mod that improves these things for Battlefront 2 and it only adds 2 more GBs to the game's size. So why the hell is the classic collection 50 GB!?

Got the original back in 2005 for PC, was pretty underwhelming even back then compared to the likes of Jedi Academy. Then found out the PS2 version was the one to get with 2 player Galactic Conquest. So PC version was just shit. Come 2024, it got shittier. "Dead game" you got it.

First off, thanks for the comment! Nowadays, I would say that the pc version is great purely down to 2 things. How cheap it is, and the game’s mod support. The mods you can give it literally make it battlefront 3! I’m gonna make a video on that soon but honestly that mod is so much better than the new classic collection

The offline is awsome when it comes to that i would rate it a 8/10 there are bugs and some parts of the ui are off but the offline is really good but the online oh boy thats a 1/10 the game lags everywhere i get kicked from lobbys the lobbys are glitched and they always have like 200 ping or something like that and it sucks as i play on console and the og games servers are gone so this was really neat for me but the online is hot garbage this game gets a 6/10 the offline is great BUT THE ONLINE IS TERRIBLE DO BETTER ASPYR

I reinstalled battlefront 2 EA and my gawd no one is playing. That made me decide just to uninstall and this game is dead as anthem. I wanted to play it but I’m not gonna sit there for hours to just wait to get a match when clearly this is a dead game.

Star wars Battlescam 2 🤣It was obvious this game was going to be bad : They deleted 4 player split screen before even releasing it, when you cut content from a 20 years old game there is something definitely wrong 🤣 Also 40 bucks for this piece of junk is hardcore. They even stole modder's work xD

Dead Game. Of course when I buy the game in August all I’ll play is offline. This game was my childhood, and besides during the PS2 days people rarely played Battlefront II online including myself. So it’s automatically going to be bad on release due to two things: 1. It’s an old game running on newer gen platforms (PS5 and Xbox Series X and S respectively) Older games usually don’t run well on newer platforms as it is. But online multiplayer on this scale was not intended for a game like this. 2. Most people played this game offline to begin with so expectations were high for new console players. You heard me the first time when I said that old games like this weren’t intended to be played on a large scale like this. So lo and behold the utter failure that is Classic Collection. The fact that people get so frustrated over something so simple is mind boggling. And simply put, if you don’t like it don’t bother with it. It was never going to be perfect to begin with so why does it honestly matter?

It’s because it was their main selling point and what made so many people buy it, they stick it everywhere saying that it was going to be online multiplayer and got everyone’s hopes up which is why it got such a bad response. Yes the offline is still great but i wouldn’t personally buy this game and spend all of that when you can just buy the old versions for wayyy cheaper and they’re basically the same

I played the hell outta that game but now when I want to play it I have to pull out the old console so this will make it a lot easier. You forgot the last one: 3. As a Star Wars fan especially a battlefront fan NEVER get your hopes up. It worked for me I thought the game was going to be awful but all that meant is that I loved the game even more due to the low expectations. I’d say wait till the price drops but it’s 100% worth it for the offline alone.
