As someone who used to have hundreds of their figures, I can honestly say I think people have grown tired of their bad quality which as resulted in less pre-orders and less stock. I’ve had issues with nearly half of every wave of their figures. Their TMNT line started great but quickly ran into quality issues. Their Ultimates design is deeply flawed and the new 2003 Turtles redesign is a possible fix, but I don’t preorder anything from them anymore. It just isn’t worth the money to get so many broken figures. And I really love Sunbow GIJOE but it just isn’t worth it anymore.
S7 likes to play games with their customers. They released the initial figures sans chrome because chrome was too fragile even though the original 80’s toys took a beating from kids throwing them around everywhere and now, they somehow conveniently mastered chroming figures but the paint is just as fragile (or more) as the 80’s figures. So why didn’t they just released chromed figures from the beginning and gave that warning back then? I would love to hear about this NEW vac-metal process they just invented for these figures that creates the same level of quality or less than the current methods that were available when they started this line. I’ll tell you what this is about, S7 double dipping into the fans pockets. This was their plan from the get go! They are chroming all 8 hawks and at least another 2 or 3 figs like Monstar. That’s an extra $650+ per collector! To say we are giving you regular figures because chrome is too fragile and end up releasing them with a verbal warning was a real dick move.
Yep many collectors are salty about that switch and if they would have released each character with the option of either flat or Vac Metal I would have picked Vac metal every time
@tydiriumhanger1320 I have the toon which I'm fine with ! Have you seen the issues with the vac metal versions ?? Check out Shartimus's review, paint chipped on the flesh tone exposing the vac metal 😖
the best point of the forum. expectations are based in price. super7 has a premium price but is nowhere near as good as 70 dollar figures from other lines. when you buy these figures on discount, then they seem like good value.
@tydiriumhanger1320 No double joints, basic joints aren't effective, cost too much, inconsistent (Tally Hawk has no grip claws and the others do, most have open winged hawks but Stargazer, Hotwing and Molecular don't).
i have most of super 7 silver hawks, bought them on clearance. might get copper kid and mumbo jumbo. i hold off buying most of this stuff due to high prices. i have all the neca gargoyles. good price and nice looking figures.
I'm still on board with Super 7 Ultimates and yeah, I'm getting this figures before they sell out. I already mentioned to you that like 2 weeks ago I pre-ordered a lot of the figures that were sold out at the bigbadtoystore... I hope to see those Silverhawks figures coming soon like Flashback, Yess Man and I'm praying for a humongous Bounty Hunter...😁👍💡👋
If they overproduce and oversaturate the market, they end up with a Funko Pop landfill fiasco. If they restrict production to actively manipulate supply/demand/market price, then they get suspected of predation. 🤷🏻♂️
I'm not gonna try to disagree, they are in it to make money after all but the fact they charge so much is an issue, I realize they need partners to sell and they can't kneecap them but... if super 7 charged by the wave with a savings vs individual units on other sites (bbts ect.) They could add value and extra heads sculpts.
Worry not. I approached Brian Flynn at Joefest with a similar concern as we haven't seen any new pre-orders for GI Joe classified for months. He said his plan going forward is to simply drop new products for certain lines the day they are available rather than offer pre orders. He said this is because when something is being offered in the future POs tend to be softer for certain lines, vs the much better sales day of. Classified is one of the lines where we are likely to only see new products as it shows up in their warehouse. But take heart because Joe Classified is continuing according to him. Obviously things can change but that's what he said.
This is not the only Company, All these companies need a wake up, QC issues is effecting everyone because they have gotten cheap but sales prices don't show. I see it in Hasbro, McFarlane toys. And customers keep buying is the problem because we have to have.
Why I dont collect GI Joe ultimates. When I started collecting Classified wave 3 was up for preorder. I was all in designs looked great exactly what I wanted. Got 2 of the SDCC Bats was still into them. Then Delays started by time wave 1 was finally released lost interest and at this point glad I did. to Date 4 waves = 12 Figs have been Offered along with Some Con Figs 6 if including this year total 18 Figures. With that 2 Bats, 2 Destros, 3 Baroness 2 Storm Shadows 2 Zartans leaving a grand total of 12 Unique Characters. This is not including wave 5 which was cancelled due to low orders where all repaints. Im not against repaints and reuse but if going to to it at least mix in enough unique characters as you go. To be a line with so few characters released and almost 3rd are repaints would be more but 1 wave was canceled is just to much. Even though would love the look of line there is no way will ever get enough of the main cast in hand not to mention no chance in getting all the OG 13 which is a most for me to collect any GI Joe line. Yes I know classified still hasnt completed all the OG 13 but at least get 1 or 2 per year and sure they will all come out by time line concludes
Honestly the only thing I agree with Bryan on is his politics. His figures are mostly junk. I do agree that there’s a false narrative out there to try to make it seem like figures are in less production so people don’t just wait for them to hit clearance prices on online retail.
Yes but it just seems odd that these vac metal figures sell out and now there are more preorders popping up with a July arrival. If they make less then sold out means sold out
I like Super7's Conan figures, but I don't think we'll complete the first movie's cast there. We're close. S7 apparently doesn't go very deep into most of the licenses they get their hands on. Thundercats is a weird exception. I think Flynn slept on some other licenses while he pursued larger ones like The Simpsons and Disney... only to shutter those lines shortly after starting them up. A real shame. At least we have Nacelle coming in strong.
Of course the space racer will show up in stock. Many people preordered from BBTS and will cancel when they get their arrival notice cause they won’t have the money. Won’t be tons of stock, but yes there will be more when it releases.
They should add a special category on their website called "dream projects" with a 3 or 6 month window to fund. That command ship went against the ghost if I remember correctly... that tough in this community/economy. And yes I was a backer of the ship
These are killing me, SH is going to be a small run for me. Most of the villains are lame and only really want to get Flashback after what is already out and the metallic versions of the main hawks. With TC, they are on a good pace and decent releases so far. The lunataks were a natural pivot at this point, but I think they are also lame and much better minor villains would be preferred like the driller, safari joe, stinger, and demolisher. I have learned to temper the FOMO, but I usually get them when I can instead of waiting until they are almost out. But like what someone else said, S7 is definitely up to shenanigans with their marketing tactics leaving people salty.
Yep the tactics make collectors weary of buying too much now and hope for a sale later. driller, safari joe, stinger, and demolisher are great characters we need
Cannot double down, but y everything is pre-order on thundercats. Could save 1/4 of the money I spent? Maybe. But I'm not 24/7 in front of the browser for that to happen. Love thundercats definitely.. here in UK haven't seen many discounts at least on that line. Practically I don't care if they play with stock cause Cannot afford to lose a figure or constantly scanning web. Of got the Money to support that. Others don't. We are in a weird time for collecting something that expensive
The cheap-skate culture is the reason companys are resorting to false scarcity tactics. If you want a figure, show support and preorder it or purchase at retail. This mentality of "I'll wait until it goes on clearance" or "I'll wait until it goes to Ross or Ollie's" is hurting the hobby.
The dude is buying two or three copies of one figure. He doesn't wanna pay full price for all three. That's called supporting an IP. Much more so than a toy company could ever dream of having for a loyal customer. I think you missed that key detail.
True most collectors are cutting back but this false inventory problem will leave them with excess inventory. If we see huge clearances later this year next year will be even worse for preorders for super 7
