Thank you! The last “don’t “ is the best. I will take all your other don’t’s seriously. Going to Tamarinda in Sept.of all months, lol. But it’s a big group in a beautiful house on the beach….so following what you & others are advising on will make this a really relaxing trip, can’t wait to see CR!!!
Been there 3x - in Tama - As a Surfer, all I need was with lights on. Going out at night in Coastal CR is dicey. Drogas or not. It gets seedy. For a Female, I can see it is a nightmare - I spent 5 weeks in Tamarindo, happy as could be. Did almost ZERO after dark, just my happy self and music, food, videos. No Alcohol, as well - That is part of the problem, and the haves-and-have-not issue.
I have read the 2 people were not related incidents, the one guy was in his residence in Tam and was a 60yo from Nicaragua as a migrant worker, the other was in Langosta a hotel owner American expat beaten in his home in a home invasion that he fought the invaders and lost his life. Unless the news you have is completely different this would be 2 more this week.
Mannn, I hate to hear that... but It's definitely 2 seperate incidents. One of the guys was a well known DJ in tama. It happened in front of chiringuito, if I'm not mistaken.
In Santa Teresa you can't walk on the beach at night, not even as a group. You can still walk on the main road, dodging the fast cars, motos, atv's etc.
We went on our Honeymoon and were walking around like it was a tourist destination. It did seem a bit sketchy, but we went to dinner at night etc. I was a little suspicious when I was walking on the beach and every two seconds someone was offering, "Party Favors", but I just said no thanks. We were so naive and driving across country through these little villages. We went to Arenal after that and felt much safer.
There's crime everywhere....as you already know but it feels different when you're out of the country. Just be aware of your surroundings and everything should be just fine. I would rather walk on Tamarindo beach at night than walking through a neighborhood in the Bronx or LA at night any day! 😅🤣
Yes of course! There has been an increase in petty crimes recently but as long as you stay vigilant and keep an eye on your things, you'll be fine. I hope you enjoy... it's a beautiful place with good people. Pura Vida 🤙🏽
