The one good thing about the fluctuating demand, is that there is a huge lever of Energy installation offsetting the supply surplus in Tesla's the battery manufacturing capacity... Granted - the sell-cycle for power instillations is FAR LONGER, probably measured in 18-24 months (the time it takes large buyers to complete the corporate decise-budget-purchase cycle).
And everytime there is a software update my side mirrors are always out of adjustment everytime I lock the car. Auto wipers were actually really good in 21 when i first got the car. Then depending on s/w update it goes from decent to bad to decent.

SMR - consider that there is a continuum of drivers from great down to terrible. Tesla is training on good drivers. Once FSD is equal to those drivers, it will already be significantly better than poor drivers. And what about drunk drivers, or drivers who can't see well at night, or drivers that have any disability that makes driving difficult? Seems to me Tesla will be morally compelled to release FSD unrestricted, as soon as it is as safe as its average good driver. Number of interventions is not really the bar, safety is. The accident injury/death rate is horrific with regular drivers - time to start cutting into that as soon as possible.

Not sure why energy is such a surprise given Tesla can and is managing batteries between auto and storage business. Lower demand in one would mean more deployments in another.

It's clearly the biggest other player in this field... I think it would be a good addition to your content to include at least 10min to how/why you believe TSLA's FDS is superior.
Gm and ford will be fine. they'll just license Tesla technology. Elon said that he allows copying of Tesla tech, it's all open source. Ford signed agreement to license FSD, allegedly.

Then Farley from Ford said today that he’s not sure that Ford is going to survive the transition into the EV category. Government Motors has never paid back the billions they got from the federal government when the car industry was collapsing.

@@RPhTom there’s no signed licensing agreement for FSD by anyone yet. There are rumors that Ford will be the first OEM to negotiate a licensing deal with Tesla… but it hasn’t happened yet.
I would challenge you view on just how easily regulators will approve FSD, particularly when you reduce the ability for a human passenger/driver to intervene - say, by removing the steering wheel. The intervention rate has been the key metric for a while but surely the stats must be obscured by drivers who intervene for reasons other than safety.
If people are really looking for the next big thing that is not being pumped like machine intelligence, autonomy, energy, and robotics, I would look into synthetic biology, i.e. how are the new CRSIPR technologies combining with machine intelligence going to make impacts on medicines, healthcare, longevity, and materials science. Finding a company that is ready to breakout in these fields would be getting in on the ground floor like investing in Tesla in 2014. If you can find a clear cut potential winner, which may be difficult.

Energy can't continue to grow very much. It is already at the capacity of Lathrop. The next growth will have to wait until the Chinese mega pack factory is online. And then, Tesla needs to get going on a couple more mega pack factories.
