It looks like it’s country NSW miles from saltwater & likely see’s fa rain anyway, anyone who knows how rust works knows covering up in most cases will increase the risk & the speed in which rust occurs rust is also repairable as any kind of damage though there is a wrong way & a right way of doing such repairs, further more the structural integrity of this vehicle has already been assessed as a repairable W O, they (insurance) don’t get a second stab later!

Tom has got some frames fabbed up some frames for a covered machinery shed for the cars. The Monaro will be built with both quarters removed and the internal structure repaired and rust proofed for many more years of enjoyment to come.

Sorry to hear about your dad Peter, That's about the only wreakers in Cooma that I can think off. Many people have said it is hard to buy from there but we have never had an issue. I do love a good falcon and would buy an early X series wagon if one came up.

@@BackyardBuilds no probs anytime guys, I enjoy helping people, even more so guys like yourself, unfortunately our old school knowledge is dying out as no one is taking it on, examples lead wiping, repairing panels, making panels like floorpans, firewalls etc, panelshops today more so remove and replace, plastic radiator support panels etc and more, there Tupperware cars lol, most cars that have structural damage rails bent airbags gone off, get turn into repairable writeoffs, as I still buy them today to make some extra coin, anyway really looking forward to seeing you start some of these projects, all the best cheers KC 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺🇦🇺😎🙂👍

There not the same but the body line & wheel arch position is, it’s more about have the length in the panel to use to make a new quarter.

Mate I have full plans to build it. But also trying to build a house & shed to build it in, I’ve been actively collecting parts for a rebuild as well, the hardest parts to get are quarters, they always pop up at the wrong time.

@@BackyardBuilds Building a house and shed is a priority. That's a bloody great thing to focus on. This Monaro ain't one of them. It was just gonna sit and rust from the bloke you bought from any way. The only way he would buy it back off ya is when you fix the body work. Then it'd just sit back on his property and rust up. Go, on prove me wrong mate. I hope you do, but trust me, as an old bloke who remembers Australian motoring history in its hayday.. This bullshit with project cars that just end up in landfill because owners either don't have the passion to restore it or have their head up their ass with asking for 1 million for something they had/have no intention of restoring, pisses me right off. Best of luck with the restoration mate, get to it or give it to someone with some time/money/love

I couldn't agree more. Im not even a Holden fan but a 2 door Monaro, id be choppin into that and getting it fixed.
