Ahh Murrayville my favourite place and one of the few places on earth where you'll find ww2 tanks rusting away one on the left is a Matilda tank and the one on the right is an m3 grant (precursor to the Sherman) wearing a armoured car turret from a vehicle called a staghound. Useless trivia you may never need haha

Give the old girl a wash and polish she would come up a treat. Had a bit of bridgestone rubber carpet underlay sitting on the gaurd there for a while. 🤙

That Wagon, to me, is worth more than the Coupe.

I have fond memories of my Ford wagons, i started with a 1972 XA 302 and column auto bench seat, and under dash air which was very effective travelling across the nullabor in the summer of '84 with my labrador next to me. Next up came my 1978 XC & a 1/2, This was a 302 Fairmont optioned up to include an electric tailgate window on its standard "dual action" door. I did however find this car was worse on fuel than the XA. Later on and with kids, [that would squabble while in our [smallish] VL Commodore wagon], I decided to separate them by getting a 'sunshine yellow' 1986 XF Falcon wagon with the wonderful bench seat !! This would take us, and our boat on various camping trips down the south west coast [of WA].

Beautiful wagon, dual tail gate opening, very rare today, had a green one the same 35yrs ago 🤣🤣🇦🇺🤝🇦🇺

Great find, I am a wags fan and own a few. It certainly is a good car to restore. However, it is not factory air, it is dealer air and it is very unlikely to be a GS. I say that because it has a standard dash and bonnet on it, so it most likely just had stripes and a steering wheel fitted at some point later on. Final point, it is a 5 seater, as you will read stamped on the ID plates. People mistakenly call the fold down centre armrest a dickie seat, which it isn't and why it has no seat belt. I'd still be pretty happy to have found it, no worries, just clarifying some misconceptions. Cheers and good luck with the project.

Great car guys, just in my day they we’re known as hardtops not coupes and that was when I was washing cars at a ford dealership as a kid, still today to me and others they are hardtops, just like mustangs have a fastback and a coupe, falcons were sedan, wagon, hardtop, Ltd, landau.

I'm from the states, and love yalls older cars! Looking at the coupe I see different car manufacturers influence in one. Definitely see a bit of ford flair from the "fast back" mustangs, rear window looks like a Plymouth Duster of the early 70s. Tail lights look kinda like a Monza. Two awesome cars, I must say I like the wagon myself. Good time could be had by all in that ride!! Cheers, cant wait to see the end product.

Some of those wheels that are on the wagon are actually the wheels that they used on the 1973 Falcon XB in the 2nd Mad Max movie.

Fairmont wagon looks bloody beaut. At least 120 kg over the Toe ball is a rule of thumb apparently yellow I’ve towed for a few years now one bad experience made me toe better and better

Love the update here on these two beautiful vehicles but I can't believe you sold the coupe,that was a Holy Grail car, a Unicorn, I have regretted selling the odd car from my past, I think this is one that you may regret selling, however all the best guys,keep the videos coming,regards Howard New Zealand

I once paid AUSE$1,000 for a tidy 6cyl XC S wagon in Bowen, and quite a few 6cyl Valiants (NZ $1,000 each) all road worthy. 35yrs ago ish.

If you contact Ford and give them the ID numbers, they can tell you what options the wagon came out of the factory with, ie, whether it's really a GS with factory air. Cheers.

Nooo......don't disconnect the strap/tail from the ratchet. So tedious to thread thru the correct way next time you want to use it! Great cars !!!

I'm not jealous....not one bit......if you spot a 12/78 xc gxl 351auto matching numbers in onyx black..with a factory nine inch fitted...one off order from the factory...like the one I stupidly traded in on a 4x4.....yes, I still slap myself every day🙄
