@@MesoJoe (since you did "remember them." you know how the other cyclopses showed up? well. little interesting yet sad fact. polythemus is the kid of the cyclopses. he's the youngster, nothing more than a mere child, maybe teenager compared to the others. which is both terrifying and sad. cause then realize oddyseus basically killed a kid's friend/pet.

You jumped in at the right time. New saga just dropped and when you're finished with the other sagas the Thunder saga should have animatics. There's already a few animatic in progress dropped. The Winnion animators have zero chill and all the talent.
Polyphemus, the name of Cyclops, is special(I don't want to spoil the plot twist), so Mircsy decided to be a little creative with their portrayal of him because of his relation with certain someone who will show up later on. Nex is Survive and non of us is ready for it.
I like this depiction of Polyphemus, it ties in so many aspects of Polyphemus' genealogy. His maternal grandfather, Phorcys was described as having red spiky skin and crustacean features. His sister is the sea monster Charybdis which his mouth here resembles and Posidon is also the God of horses, so this is quite the amalgamation.
Yeah a person back when the Odyssey was written would have been terrified by the description of the classic Cyclopes, so the animator took creative liberties to ham up the design so we could be scared too.
They only re-released the Troy and Cyclops Sagas, not the rest, because the first two are basically being held hostage by the company they were recording under. The ones after Troy & Cyclops were made under their own independent recording company, so they get the payment they deserve from their hard work.
Regarding Jorge: You pronounced his name correct! :D If you ever feel uncertain still, you can also call him "Jay". This is a nickname he has explicitly been in support of. Alternatively, "Mr. Jalapeno" works too. Regarding the pay thing: It's a whole mess of royalties and all that. I believe there's some legal reason things aren't as clear-cut as they could be, but Jorge and his team do not recieve royalties from the first two sagas, and only the first two sagas, from their original release, and as a result, he has rerecorded and rereleased those sagas. Jorge has not in any way asked that we stop listening to the old version, he just prefers that we listens to the new ones when possible. You are allowed and encouraged to watch through the animatics as they are. Regarding songs lacking animatics: Every song has at least 1 animatic that covers the song from start to end, outside of the Thunder saga. Some have multiple, but each song has at least one. If the playlist you are using has any song that seems very cut-off or has a very rough feeling to their sound within the first few seconds of singing, it's possible you've accidentally hit an incomplete one. The final version is always cleaner in sound, so it's usually not too hard to figure out. (The only caveat is that the song "Done For" flows very naturally into the following song, so some animatics have been uncertain where to cut it exactly. This is a problem only in "Done For".) Regarding the cyclops' appearance: Mirscy took a creative choice in their depictions of cyclops. They are not meant to look like that, according to myth, but they made the choice to depict them like that with decent reasoning (their reasoning is a spoiler for what comes later). In myth, they are just meant to be large men with 1 eye, similar to how they're depicted in Disney's Hercules.
Normal cyclops is how you imagine it but i love this version, with hints if a relation. I studied the Odyssey about 20 odd years ago and its been great watching and listening to epic and bits of the story coming back to me.
Honestly some animatics might come out by the time you get to the Thunder Saga, who knows! I guess we’ll see when you get there. Also regarding the new versions it’s just the Troy Saga and the Cyclops Saga. I recommend listening to them after you watch the animatics. They are really similar to the originals just touched up a bit. So glad you are enjoying Epic!
For the best (and most understandable) experience of Epic, I think you should wait to do the Thunder Saga until after your initial reactions of the first act. The Thunder Saga is very plot heavy in its lyrics and has many callbacks to the first act that might not make sense if you haven’t heard the other songs. I would love to see you react to it eventually!! It’s filled with absolute bangers!!

I’m pretty sure that’s not what cyclones look like however I really like the design in this animatic, when I listen to this song what I imagined was something truly terrifying, to the point the listener can hear the terror of this moment. The typical cyclops design I don’t find frightening or even intimidating, I don’t feel any sense of genuine danger but this moment needs you to feel the danger, feel the fear. For this song and the next you need to be afraid like the characters, the un easy feeling and fear in this song is slowly building, to me it just makes it feel more “real” in a way? Like your scared so you and the characters have this little connection grounding you to the moment even more. Idk if I’m making any sense right now I hope I am cause if not I’m gonna sound like I’m not all there mentally lol.
watch all the animatics first then the remade versions. the visuals help a lot! also other people seem to not want to state why mircsy designed the cyclops that way so i wont either. all i will say is the used something cyclops are commonly know for being. oh boy survive is up next....
React to these first and by the time you get to the Thunder Saga some animatics should have come out. As for the newly released music, I would just go to Jorge's page and listen to them. They don't really impact the animatic that are out now, and you can always watch those when they come out. I'm sure we'll have more artists to choose from by then.
