Nice review mate, the 1.8 TSI facelifted Ibiza Cupra is much rarer than the 1.4 TSI which came before. It makes more power stock than the figures show and can go to 240-250bhp with a Stage 1 re-map.
Yeah my friend is in two minds on whether to sell it or hold on, a few dealers he's talked to have said they could become really desirable! Is there anywhere you'd recommend for re maps?
@@motorthoughts Celtic Tuning do good remaps, I have used Superchips myself in the past. They offer their re-map on a device that you plug into the OBD port, and you load it on yourself. It saves the original settings so you can flash it back to stock whenever you need to. Stage 1 transforms the car, particularly the in-gear acceleration although you have to watch for wheel spin in 1st, 2nd and sometimes 3rd.
Hello, I know I’m like 2 years late but looking to get this for my second car at 18 I want a fast car and this pretty kuch the only fast ish car I can get insured on so would you 100% recommend it for speed?
Good point! I guess with emission rules most R and D is spent on that and they can only make so much power, shame really but yeah not a big improvement in over 10 years.
not true at all the 1.8tsi is a solid engine, the previous gen with the 1.4tsi and dsg was a different story, known for many problems with engine and gearbox
Yep, what K MC said above. The 1.8 is a very good engine. If you're worried about something going wrong, then don't get the 1.4. It's still a good engine but it has had many problems with them in the past.
