Today, Tom visits Orr Ford located in Stonewall, Louisiana to have a look at the 2019 Ford Transit 250 cargo van.
During the 2019 model year, the Transit 250 MSRP ranged between $33,135 and $42,205. However, you are likely to find a price reduction on the 2019 model if you are able to find a new model for sale.
The transit featured in today’s video has the 3D medium roof. Available cargo space ranges from 246.7 cu ft to 487.3 cu ft.
For 2019 there are new hinges on the long-wheelbase model allowing cargo doors to open wider. Additionally, there are minor changes to features availability.
The driving experience of the Transit is much better than work vans of years gone by. The driving experience includes responsive steering and a good turning radius considering the size of the Transit. The model in today’s video features the 3.7L v6 but if you are working with heavier load and bigger job, you may want to opt for the diesel gasoline engine upgrades for additional capabilities.
Seating is comfortable for a work van and many upgrades are available if desired.
The cargo area has an added advantage when compared to GM competitors that make it possible to walk upright in the cargo area of the Transit thanks to a taller roofline. Not to mention the fact that cargo space is class leading and unmatched by competitors with a potential of as much as 487.3 cubic feet.
What could be better in a large cargo van than a rear view camera? The 2019 Transit offers this option no matter what version you purchase although the Transit 250 in the video does have a rather small screen but between the screen and sensors, backing up is much easier than it was in cargo vans of days gone by.

Another great review! This is what I love about Vehicle Visionary. You feature things I would never know about otherwise. I don't need a cargo van like this but it gives me a whole new perspective when I see them on the road. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Just found a 2015 Transit 250 on roadside for sale. Looks like a great deal and KBB put it in the price range they are asking. It is a fleet vehicle for a local refrigeration company and in really good shape with pretty high mileage, 154K. Going to test drive it tomorrow. This will make an interesting upgrade for possibly my business or just to turn into a RV situation!!

I was a truck for work with most omy tools in back on my trucks back aeat i bought a 2019 ford transit ecoboost my tools stay dry and been a good work van .

Great question, Ivan! I would recommend adding some sort of padding or new seats altogether if you want to be comfortable on a long road trip.

Ford blew it with the mid-height. It just is not tall enough. Once you have work boots on, most men must duck. I suspect some idiot bean-counter looked at how many people were over 6 foot on some statistics table...but forgot shoes and hats. And if you are carrying something heavy...that is just dreadful...you have to be able to stand strait when lifting. Sure, you can shell out for the tall one, but efficiency takes a major hit on the highway. Also, with the tall one you can't get the shorter length. It must be mid length or long. That won't work for me, I need to be able to park. And it is easy to hit your head on those metal beams. I am half a inch from 6', but amazingly I wear shoes. I generally wear a baseball cap as well, and have actual hair. They need to redesign this with a lower floor. Make it 4 wheel drive with a couple in-wheel electric motors in the rear driven by some regeneration rather than a shaft from the front. Just another 4 inches would make a world of difference, 6 or 8 would be great too for van conversions or insulation for refrigeration. With motors in the rear it makes 4-wheel turning not that difficult to add as well. That is great for many situations, even if it only goes 10 or 15 degrees. Easier to park, make U-turns, left turns through intersections, and you get slight efficiency gains.
