Solution for there being no AC vents in the 3rd row: Bring an extension cord and a fan with you, plug the extension cord into the home power source in the 2nd row, plug in the fan, and now you have some AC for the 3rd row.
I enjoyed this review and found it really well done. Never seen your stuff before and was really impressed. The description of the exterior styling was really well done. One suggestion - be aware of upgrade options and cost - $81K without a panoramic sunroof is crap yes, but $82K gets you a magnificent one - Cargo net seat backs look cheap.. but $450 gets you a sweet wood trim and leather pockets upgrade - 3rd row A/C is available for about $600 IIRC .. it was great to learn this is a necessary upgrade, but shame you didn’t mention it Again thanks for a really nicely done review
I’m a Mercedes fan so I say yes, it’s better. I feel like MB is an overall more sophisticated brand. But that’s just me. Thanks again for your detailed review.
Definitely did not like the GLS. The interior quality for a $100k+ vehicle was unforgivable. Not to forget the terrible legroom in the third row. The x7 really wins this one for sure.
Honestly, I personally find the GLS' exterior a bit bland and "too safe" compared to the BMW x7, I find the x7's looks more exciting. Great in-depth review!
Yeah, that's my take too. The GLS is nice looking, but nobody's going to get real excited about it. The X7 at least evokes a strong reaction (whether positive or negative), which is pretty cool. I doubt anyone who wasn't an enthusiast would notice the GLS among the usual herd of SUVs - it blends in. Meanwhile the X7 is pretty memorable... for better or worse.
I just ordered a GLS 450 and it will be here mid September. Mine is black on black and with options it ran me $88,600. I tested out the Yukon Denali and X7 and decided on this. Pretty sure I will not be disappointed. I spent quite bit of time watching your reviews on many of these vehicles and it really helped my decision.
The available option called '5 Zone AC' will give you the vents in the ceiling and third row you mentioned were missing. Should be standard, not an option.

Definitely think the GLS wins! I like BMW, but I’m more of an Mercedes fan. The BMW X7’s look on the exterior isn’t that great in my opinion. I love the new infotainment system in the GLS. It is expensive, but I mean it’s a S-Class, so it ain’t cheap. Anyways, love the review Joe!
Great review! Not in my price range and would never buy a Mercedes, but I would lease one. Mercedes is doing great withe design of all their SUV's so far.
Raiti, I don't think you should zonk the fake AC vent on the front row as first of all, it is there for symmetry, aesthetics and styling of the dashboard and second of all, there are FOUR AC VENTS (which, btw is excellent) just below it
Wow, what a difference a couple of years make. Then I couldn't wrap my head around it. But Now in 2023. I understand the versatility of an SUV. I vision an airstream trailer in the future. I've found one with 6K miles a 2020 vehicle At 63,000.00. It makes all the sense in the world. Camping and travel city to city. Visiting and camping friends. Your hotel on wheels behind you and room for six people once you disconnect the trailer. An air stream 22'Ft, which cost new around 80K so between the two about 140K. I've seen S580's 22 and 23 models at this price. So to travel in a 6- cylinder towing a trailer to visit all the cities while vacationing one can't beat that.

Went to see this GLS since I was looking for a luxurious SUV. And what turnt me away was 2 things, the reliability & price. So what did I end up buying? A 2020 Hyundai Palisade Limited for what felt was like half the price. But this was just since I am not able to make a expensive purchase right now and since I drive a lot and want to be able to have a car that can last. Even though I turnt away from the GLS I still watched to see different opinions and because you make the most entertaining car reviews. Keep up the great work 👍
Hamza Sadkaoui Mercedes are known for having issues after the first year, especially electronic issues. So no, they do not last anymore. Hyundai on the other hand is more known for reliability,
I think you’re being a band wagon.. it’s no Lexus but Mercedes is reliable. Sure it’s expensive but mechanically they don’t let you down early that’s been proven already

Why don’t you show 3rd row leg space and how second row can be adjusted ( moving to front) if 3rd row passenger need more knee room. In bmw second row can be slide little forwarded to have enough leg space for 3rd row .
I have no idea why the bottom parts of the doors and the start-stop button on both GLE and GLS are nasty plastics, which don't appear in other models. I'm surprised that there're no a/c vents in this particular GLS. I saw them on the other GLS. If it's another optional extra, my mind might veer towards the BMW X7 as it's got higher quality materials on the inside and most importantly, climate controls for the third row.
nothing is gonna beat the navigator. I leased one for 3 years and I'm having a hard time replacing it. I just purchased this GLS though, waiting for delivery, we'll see how it goes!
Is the designo interior option still available for this year? I cant imagine buying a mercedes wo it. The interior looks 10x better with a quilted designo interior.
Again great video. Now the question is either GLS 450 OR X7. The problem with BMW is there digital display. They are not as remarkable as Mercedes-Benz or Audi. But the second thought, BMW gives you better discount to beat the price. If yes then I will go with BMW. If I am a millionaire then will buy Mercedes-Benz on cash...not possible...lol...
I would appreciate if you could tell what is the exterior color of the car as well as the color of interior wood. I want to go with this exact combination. Additionally want to know if this vehicle has these seats with napa leather or regular leather. Thanks in advance.
I definitely did not like the black wheel moulding, so much so that I didn’t even take delivery of one that I ordered for the wife. I also was disappointed in the round barrel feel of the interior. Loved the tech but just can’t get over the design. Great review though!

I’m not sure what it is I’m just not feeling the new GLS. I’m not sure if it’s the toned down styling or what but it’s not clicking with me. I do not feel the same with the X7 which is unusual because I’m usually attracted to Mercedes first.
Well, I think it was yet another great "honest" review. They have to appreciate that? Although I think the only "off-roading" that's going to be done is going over a speed bump at a Macy's parking lot. 😂
Nice ride, Joe. I don't think you mentioned the 0-60 mph time. And were you going easy on it when you revved the engine? It sounded quiet. Also, they need to fix the talking system.
Other car youtuber's threatened by Raiti's Rides success and disliking, even going so far as to make multiple accounts to do so! Seriously though, it's probably the fake exhaust and those enormous fake vents in the front with the fake fishnet on them... i mean what are they thinking? I also don't get the model designation anymore. It used to be the number related to the engine size, as in a 450 would be a 4.5 liter V8 and not a 3.0 liter V6... so that's kinda weird. I also don't like the flat black on an upscale vehicle like this when they know darn well nobody is taking this thing off road. Interior is nice and performance and handling seem good though.
Was debating on a jeep grand cherokee, and 4runner for traveling but couldnt make up my mind. I wanted something more elegant for going to work in business attire, and stumbled onto this vehicle. I cannot wait to get one.

Thank you so much for this review. I am in the market for a luxury suv I have my eyes were on Cadillac xt 6 now off the list Lincoln aviator nah , I think this gls450 is awesome handling comfort safety technology and luxury .. will have to do test drive. Thanks again for doing the reviews .
I hope I get to see a Mercedes flying car in my life time. Don't get me wrong, any flying car would be cool, but Mercedes would turn that ish up a notch!
Exterior styling is boring and very disappointing,the x7 will outsell this thing 3 to 1 atleast.interior i like and the tech is great.i hope the amg 63 looks alot better

@@RaitisRides Hey, great video! I I didin't see any interior lighting, and is the navigation system the latest from M.B. They have the best U.I. in the industry that could make people spend the money on it. Also, what about features that M.B. offers that the competitive doesn't to make it stand out, even though it looks like a totally disappointment by Mercedes standards.
You do the same thing when you buy a pair of Jordan’s or Nike’s vs vans or skechers. Same thing when you buy a luxury brand of clothing instead of mainstream brands. I thought you knew that’s a universal thing?

It’s interesting to me that you are so bothered by the arm rests. I agree it’s so that there’s enough room to walk through- which in my opinion is the only reason to get captain’s chairs. Folding them forward isn’t an option if you have children’s seats. The X7 is “unpurchase-able” for me because you can’t walk through there. And as far is the arm rest - wth do you need THAT much real estate just to rest your arm?! This seems to be a male / female perception issue lol
