This car is almost mandatory here in Massachusetts! I made my neighbor buy last year's Legacy when I had to pull her out of her driveway last winter, she had a BMW 550 Xdrive (AWD) 🤗 she's super happy with her first Subaru and plans to keep it forever.
I’m moving from Philadelphia to upstate New York and planning on getting either the legacy or Forrester. I’m a sedan driver, but this year‘s model of the Forrester has really stepped it up.
Subaru, I know this is asking a lot but PLEASE bring back the spec B and throw a STI manual in it!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah.... they wouldn't sell a bunch but even a limited run would be so cool
I was in one of these yesterday on the showroom. Had a golden oak and black two tone leather interior. Heated and ventilated, memory seats, power everything. Hide the Subaru logo and it looked like you were in a Volvo. Makes me contemplate going back to a car after lease with SUV is up. It’s a crazy nice car for the price.
Great review Joe. I'm test driving one of these tomorrow and I'm pretty sure its the one for me. I'm 6' 4" and it fits me perfectly. My knees aren't banging on the console, lots of legroom, and it has a pull out adjustable thigh support built into the seat - great for tall drivers. Plus I have a couple inches of clearance with the sunroof which is unusual. Its the best sedan I've sat in so far. Edit: Bought it! Love it!
I'm pretty sure that the Touring XT comes with the upgraded acoustic glass for greater sound deadening. So that should help with road and wind noise. Can't wait to drive one to see how it is but I think the Stinger might steal me away from Subaru soon. Great review as always Joe!
Yes I agree I was actually looking to buy one a month or two ago. That's what I was hoping for this XT I love the new platform. A manual would have made this perfect for me. (02 bugeye and 12 wrx owner)
Ha! I love you man but it was funny when you turned the car on to hear the exhaust and all we heard was a seagull 😭😂 Love the channel keep them coming! 😊
These things are as rare as hen's teeth. Only about 130 in the whole USA on an Autotrader search. Raiti, you should do a comparo between the Buick Regal GS and this car. Similar prices, vectoring AWD, etc. Kudos to auto manufacturers for still making rarer performance minded variants. Still some soul out there in the car buildin' bidness.
Agreed. It’s an impressive car especially the interior and comfort level. I considered the Limited (not XT) three weeks ago but elected to get the Accord Sport 2.0T. Tough decision. Interior quality, leather quality, styling, etc., is on point big time. The Honda interior is fine too and practical. I just wanted more pep and a more fun drive. The way the 2.0T handles is incredible. However, I liked everything about the Subaru better than the Mazda 6 or Camry.
I'm stoked the they brought back the turbo but I'll have to pass until they get the whole visual package together. The Sport trim gets the rear spoiler and blacked out rims but these options are not available on the actual sporty XT trim. Also, needs more hood scoop. I've considered about going to the dealer and asking about getting the Sport rims and spoiler added to the XT. I'll wait until next year and see what they change, I guess. Good overview of the Legacy 👍
I would probably pick Camry because I like it a little more then the Honda but my mom has had both cars when I was 5 years old back in 2012 my mom had and 2001 Honda Accord and now she has and 2013 Camry SE 4 Cylinder
Subaru should just go all the way and make the legacy an entry luxury offering. Hood struts. Power opening and closing trunk. Complete and denser cladding in trunk. Heads up display. Sound insulating glass. Cooled (not just ventilated) seats. Hybrid engine (instant torque, smooth engine start/stop, uninterrupted a/c). Panorama glass roof.
As soon as I saw XT I preyed for the words 3rd pedal. These days it's becoming harder and harder to choose a new vehicle. I would love to have this in manual . Subaru thought of everything else why limit it to cvt buyers. It's becoming harder and harder to stay with the Subaru family guys I'm sorry
I really appreciate you always being here Larry. There was a thick screen protector on the infotainment system that would get removed at the time of purchase.
I agree with your spoiler zonk to a T. It would look so much cleaner with one. Maybe even if they were to do a sharp angle crease like the new Sonata. Something there is needed and hoping they realize and bring it for 2021!
I love the new 2020 Subie Legacy, excellent looking car especially in XT trim for 2020. Camry and Accord do not offer AWD as even option like the new Altima. I'd get model you tested, Legacy is an awesome sedan not everyone has, and that's what makes it cool to me.
I am a 2018 Legacy 3.6R owner, I sat in one of these to see how the replacement felt. Right off the bat I don't like how the center console and shifter area has been widened, it makes the driver seating area feel smaller. I do appreciate how they put soft touch materials on it, since my leg would constantly be leaning against it in this new XT.. Then there is all the piano black plastic all over the center console and screen area, glare and scratches, all I see is glare and scratches..
I own a e60 528i, the reason I'm looking at this is because I want to move from BMW to Subaru due to what I've heard from how they treat their customers and the fact that my car is getting old. But from what I am seeing, this can compeat with lower spec BMWs that are 10k or so more
I am still astonished that Kia Forte offers Ventilated seats and this car doesn't. I do love what they are doing with the 2020 models. Complete redesign of the interior which was needed.
The loss of the 3.6 flat 6 makes me sad, Subaru had a gem on their hands and now its just turbo everything because of fucking regulations on engines with 6 cylinders. This is why the new silverado base engine is a turbo 4 and why the mustang and camaro base engines are turbo 4's, as well as all the european luxury cars. While you do get somewhat better fuel economy if you never actually rev up the engine so the turbos almost never spool up, now you have added weight, more oil consumption and more parts and hoses to fail. And if you do use them then your fuel economy drops to lower than that of an equally powerful NA engine, for example towing with any turbo gas engine (ecoboost comes to mind) but also the 2.7 turbo silverado, which gets pretty damn close in power and torque to the 5.3 V8 but can only tow a little more than half due to thermal and fuel constraints. But playing devils advocate, this is actually the best application for tiny turbo engines, on cars that will spend most of their life below 2000 rpm and it gives the neccessary acceleration and passing power while not guzzling in the meantime.
I hope you would review the 2022 Legacy Touring. I'm wanting to know if I will feel the road after driving for 8 hours. The current 2022 views by other people cannot match your review videos.
Black Subaru wins the day. Personally Joe if I was getting any Subaru it would have to be the 2020 Subaru WRX STI in White or World Rally Blue ❤ with those ☠ Rims. Would love to see a 2020 Honda Accord 2.0T 👈👉 Manual 1 day 🙏🏼. Thanks Joe.
I'm curious if the 2021 STI will carry over a similar tail light design since it seems all of the new Subarus have a that tail light design as well. Plus they're pretty nice lookin.
I lease a 2018 2.5 Outback limited. I love it but not fun to drive. Just extremely comfortable and competent. My question is this.... Do you think the Legend XT LIMITED is a better choice than the Outback XT LIMITED if I am craving a drive that's a bit more fun? Or is the new turbo Outback just as fast and nimble? THANKS! Mike
Overall build quality and fit and finish of this car is 2nd to none, even most of luxury and premium brands don't have such well put together build quality. Edit: Before someone jumps at me, read my comment again, I specifically said build quality and fit and finish not necessarily design and luxury.
I really appreciate your reviews. They’re not cynical they’re generally positive but you call the zonks when you see them. My question is if all the features are equal between the XT and the Limited that you reviewed previously and the only difference is the power and the price and a bit of the mpg which do you prefer?
Interior tech between the accord and legacy are very similar, but I didn’t like the body style in comparison. I would have liked the legacy to have had 19” wheels and a rear spoiler. Which one would you recommend.
I've seen him review some of the outback xt's. He takes the same driving route . Stop and go traffic and a very short straightaway. He must be chompin at the bit to test some of these xt's on roads less traveled. Port Ritchie looks just as traffic congested as New Jersey.
I watched you stop at all the stop signs except one. And I wasn't gonna say anything about it because of course nobody in the area at the time, but you passed one stop sign and immediately stopped at the next one like 100ft away lol.
Awesome review and thank you for responding to our requests reviewing the XT model. That’s being said I believe this is the limited trim which does not have the NAPA leather seats. I guess you may have it in your review list sometime in the near future. I love KitKat so when I buy one I’ll put two KitKat bars in that little space in the dashboard 😉
This car is screaming for a "night-package" as that chrome look is not doing it any favors (either is that dated pinstripe). Nice review Joe. I would still choose the Accord and keep 6k in my pocket.
Looks like an entry level Lexus GSF, which I fucking love btw. Kind of waiting for the sporty option. I know subaru would never do this but can u imagine an Flat 6 turbo Legacy STI?
Great video! That's so sad to hear that there's a good amount of noise coming into the cabin. I watched other reviews saying that the XT models have acoustic glass added to the front 2 windows instead of just the windshield. Was it really noticable?
Interior looks awesome, but the wheels and exterior styling... not so much. Give it a good transmission that can handle a bit more power, make it a low 5 second 0-60 car, and you'll get a lot more attention. Right now it's just blah.
@@edwardvalivonis23 I am working on getting a global travel budget. Right now I am tapped because of all the major autos show I will be attending. I actually would love to attend the Goodwood Festival! Have you ever been?
@@RaitisRides no Joe I haven't been in Goodwood festival, I haven't been in any museum except in national portrait gallery for one picture. I'm to busy and working all the time and when I'm at home, I play and sing with my son. If you can't make it, I will visit you in Clearwater 😀
For some people that might like to drag race their cars, its a considerable deal breaker. For those of us that just want good, reliable transportation, it should not be an issue. Subaru's CVT is one of the best out there.
@@DJM626 bought the legacy xt. Only issue im having is the auto engine stop. Very annoying due to slow restart and the fact that you cant permanently turn it off. Other than that legacy is a great car.
@@johnpark5608 haven't experienced this first hand as I don't own the car yet, but have read something that was posted someplace else that if you turn on the front or rear defroster that will cancel it out. Being from the Midwest here with snowy and cold Winters that won't be an issue with me if it works. At least it will take care of 3 or 4 months in the course of the year I won't have to worry about
