The E Class has long been my favorite all around car. Great size without being too big, comfortable, great ride, great handling, quiet and if it has 4MATIC they're great year round.
@@issavibez394 I haven't driven a CT6 but I have driven a CT6 which had the Magnetic ride and it was a fantastic car. The powertrain was a little bit harsh sounding (The Benz does a better job at that) but it rode well.
@@issavibez394 I meant the engine noise was louder and harsh. Their V6 isn't as smooth or as refined as the Benz I6 or even their older turbocharged V6. The ride quality in the Caddy was excellent and the car was quiet.
I’m literally so surprised at how many people prefer the G80. Glad to see people aren’t still saying “but it’s a Hyundai”. G80 for me too because I just feel like you get the same if not more for less of the cost.🤷♂️
I currently own an E450 4matic 2021, and you are right that thing tears up the road. the comfort level is off the charts and it's pretty good on gas too, as long as you drive in Eco mode. You should have shown the interior of the E-class with the interior lighting at night (it's not very important). I usually change the color based on how I am feeling or my mood. You also didn't use the voice command features (which is actually really good). I rarely touch the screen mainly because it gets dirty really quickly especially if my 3 kids are in the car. Overall the E450 is by far my favorite of all the cars I have ever owned. Last year when I was looking for a new vehicle I started to do my research on cars that were comparable to the E-class Mercedes. I came across your video and you kept talking about the Genesis cars which I had never heard about until Tiger woods crashed one. So I went out and test drove the Genesis G80 and fell in love with it. I wanted to buy one but I wanted to make sure that I was making the right decision. I then went back to Mercedes one last time just to make sure and that's when they gave me an offer I could not refuse. I love both cars but my salesperson said, "dude it's a Mercedes bro. You can't compete with a Mercedes bro".
This was the car I wanted but I really fell in love with the Genesis. Something about the E Class doesn't give me that "wow" factor, probably because of the other models looking so similar to it. I ended up buying the Genesis and that's my baby now, but this is still a beautiful car, hope I can one day get an E63S fingers crossed lol.
Hi Joe.Thanks for the informative reviews. G80 would be my choice for long term ownership. MB 48V Battery has had issues & is thousands of $$ to replace. MB reliability is spotty after the 4 year warranty is up & they cost a fortune to even service. 5 year all maintenance included in Canada on all Genesis. These comments come from a 10 years ago retired 30 year veteran MB Salesman/Sales manager who still has his 92 500SL owned since 2008.I currently have a 2016 Hyundai Genesis ( previous model to the G80) that I love. If you are leasing either Brand is ok but for long term buy the Genesis.
Benz is a more reliable vehicle than BMW by far and why couldn’t all manufacturers do it like this car with no shark fin antenna? Looks so much cleaner. No ventilated seats in a $75,000 Benz is just flat out inexcusable
I think the Genesis G80 is quite a deal, you pick one of their entry packages like the Select Package and you almost have all the features you really needed in a luxury car, with premium lexicon sound system, pano sunroof, full digital display across the board, safety features like drive assist and so on, meanwhile on the E class I think a lot of those features are optional and you would have to get them from different packages, it adds up really quick, Genesis also offer longer and better services free of charge too i think. So in the end I think the genesis G80 would still be my prefer choice.
@@Mrmanbirsandhu Why not? Benz is a luxury line and so is Genesis. Genesis is Hyundai luxury line up just like Acura and Infiniti and Lexus to Toyota Honda and Nissan. You should watch more of these videos, everyone in the car review field is comparing Genesis to other german luxury brands and Genesis has higher ratings than their german counterparts. That "german" tagline doesnt mean jack squat to me, I roll my eyes when I hear that. Luxury cars as long as they deliver the luxury styling, features, comfort and good price then it fits the category to me. Genesis are not as overpriced, more bang for the bucks and last longer.
@@SJZ00 Yeah I don't understand the hate on Genesis being a Hyundai. Who cares. Its a different car in the end the way it looks, feels, drives etc. And while it has a lot more bells and whistles and is more affordable, the MB just feels better to me when I drive it. More refined.
Great content, as usual! I’ve ordered my E450. Easy choice for me as I’ve had an E400 for 3 years and love it. The upgrades are awesome, plus I could order the air suspension, acoustic comfort package etc. Keep up the great work!
699k subscribers!!! Maaaaaaaan you and Lori deliver nothing but the business with these key reviews!!! Major key!!! Digging this Merc here, Joe!!! Happy Holidays to you and Lori!!! All the very best to you both and praying all the best for you into the new year!!!
There you go Joe! Reviewing the E450! True story though, I was looking into the E450 back 2 yrs ago in 2019 but ended up getting the E300 instead at nearly year end in October. Great car, great fuel mileage! I don't think I went wrong especially coming out of a BMW X3 that was turning to crap much sooner than expected.
@@RaitisRides I got it in October and the car has been on their lot for some 200-300 days per what they showed me. It must be all the loan payments that are eating into their bottomline on the vehicle. Plus it had like 420 is on the clock which isn't a whole heck of a lot
Might be once you get past the design and look at the substance of the cars. The E450 definitely performs better and is more efficient. Thing is you pay $$$ for the Benz's better attributes. They Genesis G80 Sport's design definitely is more exciting at this point.
@@JonnyBeoulve selfishly prefer this so when I get my Genesis I won't just be another car on the road. My city seemingly has more Mercedes/BMWs than non-luxury vehicles.
Mercedes has the best interiors in the business. It is insane to think that there are _3_ more powerfull versions of this car available!! This is basically the economy spec - for 73k! That is also insane. Car prices are just gone.
in Dubai. Comparing this with G80 2022, where I had to customize the E450 4Matic to be in line with the same options that are in the G80, despite the EQ Boost, the G80 is around $13,000 cheaper. So my vote goes to the G80.
I love seeing people driving these MBs, with their extravagant communication/infotainment systems, and they have their phone in their hands as they drive. They can't be bothered to figure out the "handsfree" system.
This a really straight forward spec. Nice wheels, black paint, classy interior. But I feel the e63 really steals the spotlight, and the entry spec e class gets overlooked. 10 years ago, there were e350s everywhere you looked. Now I see way more 5 series, A6s, and Cadillac
That’s because they took away the distinct look of the E class. 10 years ago the front end had four separate lighting elements. It looked wider, lower and meaner. Now it just looks like a jelly bean.
Merry Christmas Lori and Joe!!! Funny how quickly cars become outdated, this E Class generation had one of the best interior when it came out and now it looks very dated compared with the competition. It shows that Mercedes clients are older folks that aren’t looking for the latest tech.
Outdated? I am obviously missing something because I don't see anything outdated about this interior. I get preferring another design, but outdated is really a stretch.
Nice car but I’d go G80 because it would be more economical. Thanks Joe. Wishing you and Lori a Merry Christmas and a healthy and safe New Year! 👍🏻👍🏻🎄🎅🏻🇺🇸
Always a good review, I gotta zonk you for not saying, “ when you get to the front of the business” when you went around the front end.. but the on throttle made up for it.. Thanks for having one of the more entertaining auto review channels really enjoy the show..👍🏽
When you drove the car, did the steering wheel telescope enough toward you? One of the things I don't like about my C43 is that it doesn't telescope enough. My arms are too stretched out.
I had an 2018 E43 and now have both the G80 and GV80. The GV80 is my primary and is far far more lux than the E43 but the power of the AMG and the AMG exhaust is the only thing I miss on my E43. Overall the Genesis GV80 and G80 are a much larger bang for my buck.
You got me very interested in this when you said it had 18cuft of trunk space. I checked the official number and it is only 13. Oh well. scratch that off my list. Have a great Christmas.
Joe you are amazing person, love your pure heart , and your innocence, and how you review each car , you put so much energy into it , just wonderful to see
It would have to be the g80 … just wish they added more power and a quad performance exhaust to really Match its character. However Mercedes’ are great and there quality and build are great + their infotainment MBUX system is to date the best in class
My parents drove Benzes and now my husband and I drive Benzes. My first car was my mother's hand-me-down (W124) '91 300 D. It was a tank. I think the G80 is a fine automobile. Genesis has made great strides in the luxury auto market. I'm quite impressed. However for me, I will continue to purchase and drive MBs. I'm just brand loyal and that won't change.
One of the attractive features of the G80 3.8 AWD model is that it takes 87 octane fuel. The 3.3T sport model recommends 91 or above. I bought the 3.8 a year ago and have NO REGRETS and it has been mechanically flawless (24k lease return - now it has 33k miles on it.) Its fuel consumption is 19/27 which by today's standards is a bit low.
I bought a g80 sport 2022 and couldn't be happier the MPG listed for the g80 highway is much loer than what I have experienced 400 mile road trip averaged @30 mpg at 70-75mph roundtrip ride. I love the look of my G80 much more than the benz it looks to generic. Wish they would have did the hybrid supercharged 3.5 tt that they are doing for the G90 in the sport adding 50ish HP that would get the G80 to a low 4 second 0-60 and a 12.* second 1/4 mile
Hey joe.. you and Lori are doing a great job but do you ever think about coming to Atlanta lol we're not the far...and your fan base would grow tremendously!
I went into my local Mercedes-Benz dealership in June of this year and they test drove the 2021E 53 AMG model, the first thing I noticed was the missing heads up display. When I brought it up to my sales associate his initial response was “let me guess, you’re coming out of a BMW.” Needless to say I just wasn’t sold on it, today I am the proud owner of a 2021 BMW M5550i. Plus side is a real V8 cannot be replaced with acres of ambient lighting, plus the extra 100 or so horses don’t hurt!
Joe, you should have zonked the no heated rear seats. But we can always count on you to zonk the fake vents and exhaust tips. I would be interested in seeing your house. Do you have fake non-functional shutters flanking your windows? That would be something you would have to explain.
Haha, rolling down US-19 in Clearwater, love to see how quiet the car is over all different "terrain". Will you be doing a review on the 2022 C-Class??? I feel like the $50k-ish price point and all the new features the C-Class has to offer make it very appealing.
Love everything (interior/engine options/tech) but the exterior design. It just screams C class in my opinion. I like the older boxier body styles on the E class. Adding some length to the body would go a long way in terms of the look. G80 exterior more eye catching for me.
