You’re going to have to review the 2023 outlander PHEV that’s supposed to launch soon! That’s the real outlander, a lot less Nissan going on with that version. With Mitsubishis electric PHEV engine technology, and an actual Mitsubishi drive train, the Super-All Wheel Control originally developed specifically for the Evolution X. It’ll have more horsepower than this version as well. Hope you get to see one early! Wife and I are looking forward to that SUV. It’ll look good next to my evo lol great video as always
So you can start placing a deposit for those PHEV now at the Mitsubishi dealership. I got an email yesterday but decided no knowing the full MSRP I may skip it and grab our self the 2022 since they knock the price down so much for all 2022 trim in stock. Tempting. Then again the PHEV Outlander sound nice as well.
Good video. After doing some research on my own, I discovered the following; 1. The SEL "Special" edition does NOT have the sun/moon roof. These were manufactured during 2021 & 2022 during the pandemic and certain features were left off to increase production. 2. None of the Mitsubishi's have the Homelink system on the rear view mirror or back of the sun visor. That had me scratching my head. However, there's an app call MyQ that works from your phone & I believe with integration, can be downloaded and used from the vehicle's infotainment system. 3. While this vehicle does feature Wireless Apple Car Play, it still requires a WIRED connection for Android Auto. This too, had me scratching my head.
That 3rd row is for mom-in-law indeed. I had two of them fit in there once, but that was back in 2010 Outlander. They had a choice either to squeeze butts or walk under rain :)
Joe, great video again! You needed to drive the regular SEL with the Touring package. It has the full Panoramic roof and full digital dashboard. I love mine but a tad slow. Nissan is adding a Turbo to that engine next year, Hopefully Mitsubishi will get it the following year.
Love this car. My only issue is the seat material rubbing against the plastic seat housing making a squeaky noise. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend a test drive.
Mitsubishi is a really good vehicle. I had a sport and only traded it in for a bit bigger vehicle and more tech than my car had. The third row would be great for dogs so you have a bit of room for that quick shopping trip as well.
The interior is beautiful. Love the Dasboard and all the quilting on the seats and door panels. Is it a Jatco cvt transmission? Third row probably overkill.
You might not know this but Mitsubishi was actually using JATCO CVT's since the 90's, all of their cars in their lineup with CVT transmissions are all sourced from JATCO, even the old Outlander, Outlander Sport, Lancer, Lancer Sportback, Mirage, Mirage G4, and they don't have issues like Nissan, even Suzuki was using JATCO CVT's and again they don't have issues.
@@oi32df Yes, maybe, I'm not sure, but Mitsubishi doesn't have problems with their JATCO CVT's, look at the Outlander Sport, Mirage and Mirage G4, they've been on sale for almost 10 years now, and they don't have CVT issues same with the Lancer and the Lancer Sportback also CVT programming plays a big role.
New 2022 Outlander, hood vibrates above 80km an hour, need dealer to do rear brakes because of electronic e-brake on rear caliper, deal refused to do pads without rotors ( not needed ) $800. brake job, $500. fluid service ( trans and diff ) been in the shop 4 other times for recalls. All below 50 thousand Km. Maybe the older models where ok but i will never buy another vehicle from Mitsubishi.
Hey Joe, Excellent review as always. Can I suggest a new thing during your cars review. If you can use the Horn so we can know how every car horn sounds like. Thanks.
Mitsubishi wouldn’t have a hard time if they went back to there racing roots, all they have to do is give their vehicles more power and update the interiors in their other vehicles with tech and style that’s not from 2007
That color is stunning!! Hey Joe, do you have any plans to review the '23 Corolla when it comes out? Thanks for all your hard work. You, Lori and Stephen are an incredible team!
Joe, nice review of the Mitsubishi Outlander, these are a neat size in my opinion, just the right size. Just A couple key things that makes the Mitsubishi Outlander different from it's cousin the Nissan Rogue, The Mitsubishi is made in Japan, The Nissan is made in Tennessee. The Mitsubishi has a different suspension set up and it's own unique Super All Wheel Control all wheel drive system. Personally I think the Mitsubishi looks better and when I test drove them both the Mitsubishi seemed more refined, less noise. One big thing Mitsubishi has an amazing warranty. I might be buying one of these as my new all weather vehicle. Joe, I also agree the wheel arches would look better painted, instead of that flat black and a little more power would be nice. They do offer a huge Panorama sunroof as an option and higher trims do have a heads up display. As always great job Joe.
Good job Mitsubishi. Attention to detaills is amazing. Much better interior than in Mazda or Subaru let alone in Toyota products. Now I undestand why during World War Two Mitsubishi Zero fighter planes were the best from Japan side. Only one drowbeck is a CVT, but I think It will work much longer than german PDK.
Attention to detail better than others? I don’t think so. Mitsushitty is still crap, always will be. Just a division of Nissan now. Nissan CVT as well. Mazda will outlast mitsushitty
@@rapide12345 not a hater. Use to own two mitsushitties. A 2009 galant ralliart that rusted out a year after I bought it new. Mitsushitty Canadas way of fixing it was to have their service manager use a paint pen and cover the rust. The passenger door rusted out from the inside out. The second one was a 2013 Cancer GT AWC that had a defective suspension. The backend sank down over the wheels. I couldn’t even have people in the car with me, and when driving, the car would bottom out. Mitsushitty Canada would not authorize any repairs even when their service department knew there was something wrong with the car. The paint was just as bad. I scratched through the paint all the way to the metal with a snow brush. Multiple times dust scratched the paint during a simple wind storm! Never once did they acknowledge there was any issues. My mother had it worse with her 2013 mitsushitty RVR/Outlander Sport. A year after she bought it the roof paint started to bubble and separate. Mitsushitty called it normal wear and tear so she had to pay out of pocket. Six months later the hood did the same thing. Mitsushitty again called it normal wear and tear. The tailgate was the same thing. The clutch was also a problem. Mitsushitty never did a damn thing to help. Never again will I lower my standards to buy a car from them. I look forward to when they fail and leave North America. If I want bad service horrible manufacturer interaction, I will get a dodge.
@@kevinW826 Did I call you a hater? I didn't even mention a name lmao why are you so mad, I'm sorry if you have a bad experience with this brand but the problem is that, we don't have the same experience, we love Mitsubishi's, they're very reliable, my grandpa still has his old 2007 Lancer and it runs flawlessly, no issues, no paint fade, no rust at all, the JATCO CVT has no issues at all, it's also down on how you take care of your car as well, neglect the care, and say hi to issues.
I just bought a 2023 Outlander, the SE model. I really love it. I've had a lot of nice cars and trucks and for the price ($35,000), I got a lot of vehicle for the money. Mine has the panoramic sunroof. It drives really nicely. Not super fast, but that's not what it's for. Great vehicle for the money.
I saw in the last week around twenty of your videos and you are making me laugh each and every time you do an amazing incredible work thank you so much for all your videos
Engine swap. I like it. But i think my wife's Outlander Sport would outrun this thing, and that's not cool😅...........should have watched more. 8.something isn't bad for a na 4 cylinder
It's a beautiful SUV be perfect buy leftover the newer ones might have price hike. Still a great looking SUV seems that Mitsubishi is making some good looking SUVS thanks with help of Nissan take the Rogue still looks bit better.
Aha!!! Mitsubishi at it again in the midst of their renaissance!! The front end is sometimes but overall it looks decent and that interior is good!!! When they decided to merge with Nissan I honestly was glad because it's better to have them around than to lose two companies altogether. Keep on doing your thing Mitsubishi! All the best to them! Awesome review Joe and Lori and Steven!!!
Nice Mitsubishi Outlander I think the red is a very very nice SUV. I think the 20 inch wheels are a nice nice addition to the SUV. Compared to the Apostles to the SUV's duch as Nissan and Mazda the OutLander looked good but the CVT should be replaced for a 10 Speed automatic Transmission.
What? No gun rack? Fahghettaboudit. Hey, nice review, Joe. Mitsu deserves some love, too. I owned two Mitsu's in the past and they were great vehicles. Very, very reliable if a little less well equipped and terrific fuel mileage. This car shouldn't have a third row. It should be set up with underfloor storage instead.
I agree they need to stop putting the rear wipers at the bottom if they have more than enough space for them underneath the roof spoiler. It just makes sense.🤷♂
Bought mine back in Dec of 2021. Loved it and still do. The radiator needed replacing back in Nov and now as of this week my suspension needs replacing. I guess I just got a lemon. Great car other wise but not going to keep it with the risk of other parts failing will trade her in😢
Funny that they call it a "special" edition when the reality is that they are having supply chain issues with the parts for the SEL Touring so they basically had to throw together what they had and call it "special". The SEL Touring (which Joe reviewed last year) is a better buy if you can find it. Includes the sunroof, full digital dash, and HUD display.
The front end looks like.... F*ck I don't know what it looks like. I haven't seen one of these on the road yet and I'm glad I haven't - other than comedic relief.
I just love the new Outlander, the styling is my favorite part, the interior is as impressive as the exterior especially in the orange and black color with diamond stitching.
Greetings from Japan, I own 2022 Outlander PHEV and it (PHEV) is only available power train of latest Outlander in Japan. which is really an engaging, so powerful and earth friendly . It should be available in US in near future ...
I believe the special edition is the economy SEL trim to combat the chip shortage. Would have been nice info to mention in the video if in fact it's true. Great job as usual Joe!
If you're an overly fertile family on a budget, the Outlander is the cheapest deal on ANY 7-seater. When you look at 3rd row options in this segment, it's this or the Tiguan with paying extra for the 3rd row. That chrome on the front and side does need to go however. Nothing some vinyl can't fix.
Hi Joe it's nice to see Mitsubishi outlander are coming in hot with the 3 raw seat model and yap this is the best SUV to buy. Love the channel keep up the great hard work.👌👌
JOE ~ Mitsu-Huh? at the intro. behind you is a big BRANDON sign, Let's Go Brandon ! ! ! lol. that enough LED front lights to blind on coming traffic hahaha. it's not bad looking, big honking wheels. no Rubbermaid trash can lid for an engine cover? say what? I sensed the Nissan connection as you were mentioning it, freaky. the interior door panel looks mutant. the note actually said, "Dear Joe, pleas do not wreck this SUV while test driving it." lol. MitsuBeachy heeeheeeheee - modes > CVT = mild, slow, turtle. awesome report - tony
i sat in one today. In the upper trim levels, the seats are hard as rock. I sat in a Lexus NX and the seats are amazing, i sat in a Toyota Venza and the seats are very very nice. I sat in this and felt like I was sitting on a rock.
@@RaitisRides I have such big dreams and ideas man but I don't even know where to start because I don't have the finance or even the skills like that kid from Japan who started honda. I watch some of his documentary.
I WOULD NO BUY THIS SUV. Why? You just do NOT SEEM like an honest person. I do not trust you. Your are a sales man, trying to sell something that has issue, and you know it, you show it, but yet you try to SKIRT around it. You are showing this suv, with that 3rd seat. You know it is not a good thing, but you refuse to say it. BE HONEST, it is the best policy.
READ BEFORE YOU BUY! When it comes to the the mi pilot assist. You have to have it in cruise for it to activate and keep you centered. Then everytime you switch lanes via turn signal it will beep at you when you enter the other lane and it locks on to the lines again. So left turn signal, switch lanes, locks on with green steering wheel lit... BEEP. Then pass the car and go back to the right lane, locks on.... BEEP. No where to turn that off and super annoying with no volume control either. Also, when the Mi Pilot active you can't turn off the alarm for when you drift to a line on either side. This is usually the persons doing over the assist but it will give you a BEEP BEEP, BEEP BEEP when that happens and you can't turn that off either. So if those types of alarms bother you then this is not the car for you. I like my previous car which was a Hyundai and I could have the steer lane assist on all the time, cruise or no cruise and shut the annoying sounds off. I regret buying this car because of this...
Mitsubishi needs to bring back the Montero and redesign it, to not only compete with the other full size SUVs, but especially in North America, to fill the hole of the discontinued Land Cruiser.
I don't know. I'm on the fence about this car. The interior definitely exudes a rental-car type vibe, and while the rear looks stylish, the front end looks like it was left out to melt in the sun for too long. Oversized grill and over-stretched headlights. Not feeling it.
We got ours at a steal. They had barely rolled out in our city dealership they didnt know of they were going to sell got mid range model for 27k. We didnt get the full digital speedometer or the cross stiching seats cuz those two extra features tacked on $4000 more didnt seem worth it for me. We still got the half leather half material seat the alloy rims, 45k miles on it no issues at all other than parking sensors going off sometimes randomly
