Is the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro SS the BETTER sports car to BUY than a Mustang GT?

This one hurts. The Camaro is one of my dream cars so seeing it come to end is bittersweet. I’ll buy a Camaro one day. It’s just hard to justify it in the northeast as a one car driver.

I'm not a Camaro person but it's always sad to say goodbye to a car.

I love the Camaro! I can’t believe they quit making this icon of a car. And the Camaro SS Redline Edition is absolutely perfect with the manual, which is what I absolutely prefer over the automatic!

I bought a 2024 2SS panther collector edition with the 6 speed manual. It is truly amazing and the camaro will be missed. I love everything about it.

I had a 2016 SS Convertible and a 92 Z28 convertible. Sold both to buy a 24 Panther. I tried to order a Panther SS convertible. No luck. Everyone I saw advertised was sold awaiting delivery. Happened to call Gibbs Chevrolet in Palm Coast Florida. Salesman said the guy who had put a $500 deposit on the car had just called thirty minutes earlier and asked for his deposit back. I asked if they were doing a supplemental on the Panthers. He said he would sell it for MSRP. Had it since 11/23. I go to the garage and rub it somewhere daily. Auto manufacturers think real car guys will buy EVs…not happening. Jack R did a video on RU-vid at a car show. Love your channel.

The only thing missing from this spec is the dual-mode exhaust.

Great video Joe!!! It sucks to see the Camaro gone. They stopped the 2024 production line in December. So shitty of GM. However I do prefer the Mustang S650 over the SS. I like the pushrod V8 and Tremec transmission but the Camaro has not aged as well as the Mustang. I have been driving Corvettes for many years and always appreciate the HUD, especially as a HUD F-16 Fighter Pilot. I think every car should have a HUD. Thanks for the review!!! I always loved this version of the Camaro. I'm sad to see it go. I would think about selling my 08 C6 to get one. Sitting inside that cockpit is amazing as well as the chassis feel.

I bought a 2023 2SS red line edition in July 2023. I absolutely love my car. Camaro has been the car of dreams from the day my mom brought me home in a burgundy 67 SS Camaro. This car coming back as EV is an absolute insult. If you can afford it go get a 2024 you will not be disappointed! By a long shot!

Ive owned both the camaro 2ss and mustang gt. The camaro drives a lot better imo. My only complaint about the camaro is the poor interior visibility.

Well I don't have a Super Sport Camaro but I did recently get a 2015 Camaro RS 2lt Red Rock Metallic convertible on 12-2-23 with only 22k miles on it. Today I did my first mini upgrade which was changing out the factory cold air intake kit for a Volant Performance Cai. I'm keeping mine

Joe, when I was growing up in the 70s, I had a friend that said we could have his girlfriend, but were forbidden to touch his camaro. I think he was a little unstable, but we all stayed clear of that camaro.

I have 2 Camaro SS's. I have the 2010 model and the 2016 model and I love both of them. I hate that they are going away again. Will never buy an EV.

I love the Scat pack, SS and GT. Great cars! Rip Dodge, Rip Chevy and long live Ford! Hopefully they can keep pushing these v8s for at least 2-3 more years. Then again, the way things look, electric car sales aren’t looking so good and a lot of companies are losing money. Dodge and Chevy will realize how much money they’ll be losing making a bad choice to kill the v8. Also, I hate the fact that part of the reason Chevy is killing the SS is to push sells of the overpriced corvette smh. I love Vettes, but they’re just WAY TOO expensive at the moment.

I'm sold on the car you reviewed. Visually, I'm happy with the lines in both the aesthetics and athletics. Then there is the renowned Tremec, gauge cluster, ride, and even the mileage @ 27 hwy.

I’m a mustang guy. Another great review! HP sells cars, torque wins races, someone once said. I am surprised they didn’t do red stitching. Chevy always seems to outdo Ford with the interior but it looks like they cut back a little. The billboard screens in the new mustangs don’t do anything for me but probably tickle the younger crowd. I think the interior is great. These cars are for driving, not a home office. That’s a hell of a car and must be a blast to drive. Tremec trans is worth a lot too! Great looking car. 👍

Both Mustang and Camaro's are great cars in their own right but this Camaro pushrod V8 has the grunt down in the lower rpms where you would want it IMO, I owned a 1970 Chevelle SS with 396 V8 so I would probably get one of these Camaros over the Mustang, - American Muscle with low end power and a great tremec manual trans makes this a classic style American Muscle Sports Car already. Also Chevy will still support it for many years into the future so there is no issue in the respect that they aren't making any more.

I like Ford. I've owned a 1988 Mustang GT and a 1988 Ford F150 pickup. That said I'm a GM guy. I've owned a 1964 Nova, 1970 Camaro a 1988 Corvette, a 1991 Corvette ZR-1, a 2011 Cadillac CTS-V, and a 2016 Corvette Z06. I would love a new Camaro. When I was 16 years old I wanted a '67-'69 Camaro. Didn't make it happen back then, but maybe someday. Thanks for the video Joe!

Since I've got the rear view mirror camera and set my side mirrors correctly, plus there's lane monitoring, I don't find visibility to be an issue.

Hey, Joe great review on one of my favorite cars, and hopefully chevy brings it back as a hybrid v8, what do you think my friend.

Since it is basically the exact same as a 2023, and I own a 2023. I will say, yes to this car it is worth every penny spent. It’s fast, it handles incredibly and for every day driving I get 24.5 in the city and 29.8 on the freeway at 80 mph. I have a 2SS 6.2L LT1 engine and a 10 speed automatic transmission. 0 to 60 in 3.9 and 1/4 in 12.07 sec. Summer tires and no upgrades. It is a stock 2023 Camaro 2SS.

6.2 V8 Camaro with 6 speed manual which means no engine cylinders shut off/on button I'm bought & sold

I just bought a 2024 convertible Mustang GT with every option and package but after randomly renting a Camaro convertible... I should have gotten the Camaro. The handling and agility of the Camaro around turns, weaving in and out of traffic, just felt so much "sportier" than the Mustang. Problem is I can't find a 2SS convertible anywhere that has the 1LE package I need. Is there any way to mod the Mustang suspension for better handling and to reduce the "numb" steering? Did I make a very costly mistake?

I've always wanted a Camaro, and I had the opportunity to get one back in May of 2023, but I chose to get a Grand Cherokee instead. Grey metallic with gloss black, just like the Camaro in this video.

I remember buying a brand new 2017 Fifty Edition Camaro SS2 it was such a sweet car and the paint was sweet. Had to sell it during covid but it was a fun car.

I went from a 2019 SS to the 24 GT. Felt like blasphemy as I've been a chevy guy most of my life but honestly I really like the ride and the sound of the GT with the active exhaust, and I wasn't about to pay the ridiculous mark up for the last year camaro even though the camaro will always have a special place in my heart haha

Three reasons why I got the GT instead: runs on regular gas instead of premium, room in the trunk even with the top down, lumbar support in the seats. Have any of those issues been addressed in the 2024 convertible?

Only thing the Camaro is missing is the wider 1LE wheels standard with 315s out back and 275s out front. They fill in those wheel wells perfectly.

4:42 software glitch is a bad sign

I went Mustang GT after the GM bail out. Being a GM employee for darn near 20 yrs. Yeah it saved jobs. But! Anyway, the new Mustang is nice outside and performance wise. I just couldn't get over the two big screens. We need to watch the road and those around us, not Oh hey look at that screen or this one while driving. If your tastes, go that way great. I have never owned a Camaro, even after building them. Until now. Only an SS 1 with some performance touches. I really enjoy the car. The recaro's are comfy, the gage package can be left to just what you need right there, no game show going on. It's an auto due to finding a six speed can be a Challange due to the build is over. I was late to the party. My last mustang was a 2016 GT performance package that I had ordered and put FORD performance parts I added. This Camaro stock runs every bit as nice and feels great. Better in some ways. Gald, you got to review the 2024. Oh, the EV they call a Mustang. I really hope that the Camaro doesn't come back as a four-door joke. High hybrid Coupe OK, as long as they keep it simple with performance in mind.
