Is the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO a BETTER sports car than a Ford Mustang Dark Horse? 

I’m happy with where Nissan went with the Z … I just don’t think the Nismo is enough for the price hike

I like the Z but I wouldn't pay for the Nismo badge. The regular version is more than enough, at least for me.

I don’t mind the nismo, honestly it improved a lot from the normal Z. If it came in manual I’m sure most people wouldn’t mind it at all

$68K for this car is crazy. Dealerships and Automakers are taking a piss.

The Nismo in my opinion is great, looks and design wise vastly improved than the Z Performance. However, I personally would still get the Performance and then spend the difference in price to modify it to my driving style. Main reason? The transmission. To me it's no longer about track times, it's about bringing a smile to my face and feeling connected to my baby.

I’ve had mine for just 5 days. Got ppf done for the full front. Been having a blast driving it. It’s my purely Sunday drive fun toy to have.

My favorite part about sport mode+ is how much more firm the power steering feels than in standard. It feels like adjusting the force feedback on your gran turismo wheel. the NISMO uses the same exhaust as the auto performance model so those pops and bangs are actually piped in sound effects also. I understand your thoughts about the 9AT but as the Z is currently set up the manual cars dont have access to the dynamic mode. so much of the NISMO is built around that sport mode+ ( even the timing is changed in sport+) you wouldnt get with the manual.

I have owned a 350z and a 370z. Neither car ever had a recall. I never had a mechanical issue with either one of them. I wonder how many can say that about Ford Mustangs.

Beautiful vehicle for sure. We as REAL car enthusiasts love our turbocharged car's supercharged car's as well as naturally aspirated car's. Nissan needs too make this Nissan nismo manual though.

Joe, in that center console of the Nissan Nismo, I think it's big enough to fit Gizmo from Gremlins. But remember, don't get him wet or fed after midnight! Your chances of problems will multiply. 😉 But anyways aside from keeping your twinkies and Yohoo from Gismo, who wouldn't want to drive around with Gizmo in your Nismo? 😅

Looks way better than the regular Z with better performance, but no manual? Nissan really dropped the ball making it AT only.

My first car was a 280 zx turbo full load. I fell in love. This car looks awesome, and your critique and criticism were spot on. Good job.

I see they changed the entire rear end of the vechicle which looks nice, the things that should've been added was a sunroof, red trim interior and electric seats. The entire exterior looks nice.

With dealerships mark ups. It’s going to be getting close to 80k. Not sure I see enough for that. I think 60k would be the sweet spot for this Z. Mark ups have really hurt sales in my area. I have only seen one new Z on the road.

I looked at one but they wanted 80k out the door. Killed it for me.

I’m old. When I was in hs in the 70s it was around $3500. That was about the same as a Buick Skylark. Which one would any teenager want to drive for similar price? Yes they continually escalated up the price chain in comparison to other cars over the years. Even with inflation it has gone up comparatively.

Wish this came in a manual. That would make this very desirable! And so much fun to drive

I love the idea, am looks of new Z, but at least here in Vegas, there are none to buy, or even test drive. Not sure how committed Nissan is to selling too many of them.

I just drove a Z performance manual and a Z performance 9 speed flat out back to back. I surprisingly really loved the auto and I think the 9 speed is a better package with this engine. I know it's an unpopular opinion but the auto is faster, sounds better and shifted it's close ratios fast under power and that kept it in the meat of the power band. There is a reason they didn't offer a manual in the GTR.

Back in the ‘90s, we just called them a Z or a ZX or 350Z or NISMO. And back then the tech they had was just fantastic. I like the new one. It’s pretty cool. I like the enthusiast focused retro but updated interior. Ya the trans is very slow. They should have used a ZF.

If you gave me a Mustang GT I would sell it to buy that Nismo Z. I think the Nismo Z is superior In every way. The Mustang GT is a bloated tired platform. And you can easily get the HP on that Z to 500. It’s 420 now you could get a sports exaust system turn the turbos up a bit and go into the computer and turn it up. Put a K&N oil filter and high flow Air filters in it. Just doing those things will get you to perhaps 475. And also in 20-30 years which vehicle do you think will be worth more? The limited production Z or a run of the mill Mustang GT. In 20 years you won’t be able to give away a 20 year old Mustang GT.

I'm fine with the new Z, but just fine. Pricing is the biggest issue with me, for the old chassis refresh and VR30DDTT being shoehorned in.

With the proliferation of SUVs, it nice to see manufactures continuing with these small sport cars!

i like you videos but i think your nuts for zonkimg the prop rod under the hood. its better than those gas struts the stop working a year after getting the car and you have to use a stick or replace them ...and they are not cheap

I work for a Nissan dealership and we just got one in. This vehicle is beautiful and has great performance. Unfortunately. This vehicle was rushed. The red color is not Nismo red. Its closer to a Maroon color. There is no red stitching in the interior and no Nismo engine cover. It comes with the old key fob. Still. Not the one with the letter "Z" on it. Just the Nissan symbol. I have no doubt this will all be corrected along with a manual transmission. Im 100% intrested in purchasing this vehicle. Though, I will gladly wait a few years for an none rusted along with a $20k marked up vehicle. Still. This vehicle is outstanding.

Also for 65k I would go a buy a 718 cayman put a 5k breather tuning kit on it; make 420hp an have more comfortability, better steering, better interior, break more necks, I mean it’s just amazing car.

To answer the question, no it's not better (despite my obvious bias) than the Dark Horse. But I've always been a fan of the Z. Just don't understand why this version wouldn't have a manual. That's a huge miss, IMO.

Still haven’t even seen a new Z on the roads 😢😢 Are they still having paint issues or are the dealers just marking them up so high that no one is buying them? 😢😢😢

It's a good looking car especially in this color but I don't think like it enough to want to purchase one. That 9 speed auto only is definitely a deal breaker for this type of car. Kind of missing some character imo.
