Coming from a MKV 6MT owner: Camaro, Z or MKV, we need to treasure all these cars as they die off and we are all forced into electric in the future. I can honestly say as a car enthusiasts I lived through one of the greatest generations from 90'-2020s. Turbo spooling, V8 sounds, exhausts, etc.
@@miketym2642 I mean that. I seriously think we lived through the greatest car enthusiast generation. The next generation of kids driving EVs won't know what a turbo spooling, intake sound, etc means. They missed out on this
Agreed. I had all those cars, and I'm hoping to get one more gen from Supra before they're turned into soulless appliances or killed off like the Camaro. I almost bought the MKV, so close, but ended up with the SS 1LE. I'm hoping Toyota addresses a couple things and gives us one more gen with electric assist at most, and I'll get one. Toyota is easily the most exciting enthusiast driven automaker on the planet right now.
@@jrzez I'm with you. My MKV 6MT isn't perfect, but she's fun. I think they will deliver a hybrid Supra or something similar to what bmw is doing going slowly into electrification. I had that Camaro as a close 2nd choice on my last. Last of a generation V8 engines.
@@jrzez I got the 2022 Camaro 2SS 1LE with the 6 speed. But I do like the Supra and it's potential. Probably the only car I would possibly trade in the Camaro for.
@@justme307 they have much better leasing and financing options that's all that comes down to. Same why you don't see Acura tlx-s, CTR's, same you will see with the Acura Integra type s. Also the performance on all non Acura top sport trims is horrible. The new integra Aspec has a 7.4 0-60. 95 integra LS has a 7.5.
Yeah leave it auto! you can't shift it faster than the computer. A ss is actually really fast with the 10 speed auto it would destroy the stock supra. It's beating the z by a bus length 🤦♂️
@@jak3est I could shift faster in my 17 ZL1 with the 6spd than the 10spd counterpart. All depends on the driver skill level and if they want to use the "no lift shift" option which the Auto can't do. At the end, it's driver preference and I'd prefer to row through the gears than have some computer have all the fun.
@@TheWolfMatt well yeah i get where you're coming from but for the most part the autos coming out in these new sports cars are fast. So when you see someone racing using the paddles they're actually going to be slower than letting the ecu hit the exact redline shift for you than you short shifting which is what i meant. Which is probably why that ss is nearly a full second slower than it should be... which is even sadder for that z lol
@@bfiremitch yeah thatd be interesting because the supra auto is the zedev 7spd which is a Great auto transmission had the same one in my Charger scatpack driven stick my whole life but after owning that car i get why the stick is becoming more rare
The Camaro driver did good in the drag against the Z but not the Supra. Don’t know why he wasn’t using the no lift shift. 🤷🏻 result would have been different
Nls would’ve helped but the Supra makes it’s peak torque damn near at 2k rpm off the line those b58s are killers off the line. Camaro has the top end tho

The visibility is what the biggest gripe was and the maro was my top favorite until the supra was born. Still my #2. It was the lightest out of all modern sports cars with big hp until now. Hope they revive it with some new platform and serious thought on giving it a real identity just like the vette. The supra should have won the roll, I think it was driver skill and the guy with the maro really knew his car that's how he did so well give the weight disadvantage. Unfortunately the Nissan is like the Acura type s where it's just not winning anything lol. Effort for at least making a z despite Nissan being low rn. They'll come back up eventually. Respect to all the companies making fun cars especially now.
Oh come on its not a decade old. That thing has been tweaked and revised for 13 years. The Supra 3, if anything it should be bounds ahead. But it's not😢. It's time for the Camaro to bow out. In a world full of inline 6 turbo charges cars, Chevy is decades behind.
“The Camaro is over a decade years old.” 🤦♂️ The Camaro is just a low tech crap car. Get that in your head. It still uses a pushrod. NOBODY uses that garbage anymore. Doesn’t matter that’s it’s heavier. It’s just an underwhelming car. Simple. The Supra is simply the better car.
382 hp, but a huge 300-600lbs weight diff. Add headers, E85, and weight redux on the supra and you are going to beat most FBO camaros simply because of weight diff. Add 2 fat people to the supra, and you'll see the difference weight makes especially in those low torque 6 bangers.

Video hasn't released yet. Prediction - whichever car is auto, will win. If all cars are manual, whichever car has the better driver between the SS or the Supra, that car will win lol. The Z doesn't stand a chance in manual form.
@@lezzeppelin2222 from a dig it might have a chance but anywhere else it doesn't. The Camaro has a more sophisticated, faster, 10 speed gearbox, but more importantly, about 50 more hp, and ft/lbs torque.
Great video! It’s amazing how well the Camaro 1LE is doing without any changes for the last 6-7 years! It just tells you it punches wayy above its weight class, the crazy part is when it’s full bolt on it beats a lot of cars
I own a 1ss 1le and I shift it at 6500 rpm no lift shift! None of those jap crap cars would've beat the Camaro! I seen Sam no lift shift the CT5 blackwing, he should have driven the 1le!
These are some good runs. The 1le should have been in 1st for the 40 rolls. I think it would've taken the supra if it was. Also bit higher rpm launch from dead stop. Either way good video.
I honestly think the 10 speed would of absolutely taken it to gapplebees in every which Way lol. I was kinda surprised it took the camaro in the drag races but I guess since it's lighter it makes sense
Not likely under 50k anymore with the 1LE package, especially the 2SS. I have a ‘22 1SS 1LE and it was 50k, but damn was it worth it. You get so much in that package that you would never be able to do aftermarket at the same price. If you just want the V8 grab the LT1 and make a drag racing beast 😊
I'm very impressed buy Toyota and Nissan, however it's hard to beat a true classic Chevy... awesome races! Over-the-top comparisons thank you thank you

This was so close, was wondering about that. In the right hands, NLS can definitely shave some time. Nice to see how closely matched the Supra is to Camaro; its brute strength versus lighter platform. All that said, I like having a back seat 😊
I've seen in person a 2SS (non 1LE) Camaro beat Supra's no problem (both stock). The auto would be a better comparison bc there would be less driver error.
You Probably saw a 2020 Supra with 50hp less, it will not beat a 2021 and up Supra! Sam literally has a video of that match up, scroll down his videos.
Great video and races. I could be wrong but it sounded like the guy in the Camaro was short shifting too often. They're all pretty close anyway which was cool.
Same im sure he had a reason but he definitely short shifted 1st both times and it seems he didn’t do it against the first car. Interesting. Cool races

I own a 22 supra and the thing about it being a bmw really is, unlike the Camaro all you need is to drop a tune over your phone like I did with MHD stage 2 tune and it becomes a brand new beast. Gaining almost 100tq and almost 70hp.
I'm willing to bet that if the z had a better trans it would be holding up a bit better . Imo I would rather have the z than the other two just for the looks
Maybe the tires are bigger on the supra helping with traction. This may be the way to go since you don't have the drivetrain loss of all wheel drive at the top end, or maybe not as much.
The Chevy LT1 is a wicked motor.. 455hp NA stock 😆 my 16 has the same motor and we have these twin turbo 2023s that can't hang with the LT1. Don't even want to get into the HP gains by going NA E85 and tune this 1LE would beat a stock ZL1.. the LT1 Bad Azz American Muscle!!
Opinions are like .... what is it again? "Don't even wanna get into HP gains of going NA e85 and tune the 1le would beat a stock ZL1" Dumb and dumber in the flesh right here....smh
@@tyhyhh Nice try, but the Camaro LT1, SS, and 1LE perform exactly the same in a straight line. SS has more amenities and 1LE is a track package. lol, try again. the Z would lose out to the more basic Camaro V8 anyway 😂
Yeah he already did auto vs Auto before Supra vs LT1 (Same power as SS) and Supra won all races. You can see Supra was edging in but Camaro driver was shifting faster.
My car is a 17' Camaro SS 6speed. My car never crackled and pooped to the level of this 2023 camaro thank god. My exhaust just gets deeper and smoother with age and C and Ps it had have diminished and I have the dual mode exhaust I keep in sport mode. Rumors are Chevy is tuning in the Cs and Ps, they need to tune that sh!t out! My Camaro has been my daily driver for over 6 years and 66k miles now! Still runs like new.✊😝
Impressive. The manual is suppose to be 4.1-4.2 0-60 according to car mags. This is the first time i heard of a stock manual dipping into the 3 second range.
they are just putting rated numbers on the screen(which they wrongly used the 8AT number) not what they actually ran. Judging by how poor they launch and shift, I'll say they are in the 5sec range 0-60 actual time.
@@Kai240i supra is not a 5sec car, it's more like a 4.2 or a 4.5 vehicle in the real world, ive tested the 2021 automatic version the best i could get from it was 4.2 seconds, i also heard the manual is much faster maybe thats the reason it hit 3.9 seconds
The only good thing about the Z is the tuning options because the motor has been around since 2016 in the Infiniti Red Sport. I have a 2018 Luxe 3.0T and I had a turbo replaced at about 35k miles.
They ironed many of the issues out for that engine by now and as you said great for aftermarket. But that's not enough, the real reason to get a Z is for the looks...
the supra even got that area beat the b58 have way more aftermarket support plust the b58 engine is proven motor that is able to handle 4 digits power with stock bottom ends.
SS still better car and cheaper than both the other options. Also if the SS actually knows how to launch his car he beats the Supra easily. Wasn’t leaving the line hard scared to drive hard.
Would like to see this with auto transmissions. It would be a more fair comparison. Drag 1 with the Supra the driver nailed that shift into 2nd perfectly and he knew it. The Camaro driver wasn’t as quick on the clutch that time. I think both cars would be dead even or very close to it if they were auto. I’ve driven a manual mustang cobra for the last 18 years, I’m kind of looking forward to the AT Supra whenever the hell it’ll be delivered haha.
From a dig the Camaro had a bad start, and the guy is shifting to soon against the supra. Can hear it in the rpm's. There's a reason M6's are for fun, and A10's are for the win.
In terms of potential, the Supra is a light year ahead. I’ve have the Camaro though for sure, so pure, such a good transmission and what a noise (Supra is very very close though). RWD sports cars are on top 🥰. The Z tho… 🥱
Supra isn't light years ahead in terms of potential. Camaro still has faster laps at a lot of tracks and that's not even including the zl1 1le. Even though Chevys alpha platform is amazing its going on 7 years old.
Definitely short shifting that Camaro at times. Anyways, all 3 i just considered last summer. Ended up with the SS 1LE M6 myself. So close to getting the Supra but no android auto and that stupid smash my head even without a helmet roofline made it come up short. Maybe the MK6 Toyota will fix the little things and I'll grab one up then, I hope, with a big wang and targa top ICE of course please. Oh, and with some cooler colors. The nitro-yellow is gone for some reason, and orange is limited production.
Was thinking that too. Weight and power band can make the SS a challenge to launch, even in ideal conditions. However, once you are launched, stay in the power band for best results.
@@Game-The-System you can get 3.9 seconds with ss 1le to 60 mph. You need to have the suspension on tour mode everything else on sport or track with traction off. Launch around 3000 rpm.
@@al151 I've seen elsewhere that using tour mode vs track is slightly quicker, but that seems wrong to me. Never heard of traction control (off) making a difference. All things being even, a good RPM for a launch will vary depending upon road material, condition/type of tires and temperature outside. Wouldn't be suprised if recommended tire pressure for drag racing is different than for tracking.
I was shocked to see the Supra take the race from the line over a roll. All that torque on the camaro I thought would get it to the sweet spot over the weight. I do know this....the 10 speed version is far more efficient for the power as I have seen those cars pull a half second faster stock over the 6spd.
As a Car/Truck Guy ill say i respect all Cars and Trucks... They all have their goods and bads... Yes the Camaro is my fav but i have had plenty of 4 and 6 Cylinders that will perform just as well
BMW B58 makes 388 HP on wheel, so it's the same 455HP on crank, It wins the drag coz lower weight, but how did it lose the roll races, I don't get it......
