Enjoyed your video a lot. Got my CX70 S Turbo Premium Plus about 2 months ago now and love it more every day. It's a large SUV, which doesn't feel large to drive. Great Engine and Brakes and I really appreciate not having to poke a screen to get to the things I need while driving. BMW, Mercedes and Audi, really need to take a look at how wonderfully easy it is to use the tech in the car. Mazda did an amazing job with this one, for sure.
I've been seeing nothing but Mazda haters talking the CX-70 down, but probably just enthusiasts that only care about the past vehicles or stuff we won't be seeing anymore from Mazda. I personally think the CX-70 seems badass for my fiancee and I. We don't want kids, and would love a large SUV to tow with too, so this looks a little better than the CX-50, and more fitting for us than the 90 🔥🔥
@@ryuman757 If you and your fiance get the CX70, I think you'll love it! And yes, haters are gonna hate. Usually haters don't have any basis to hate with, but that rarely stops them.
Ima be honest....That interior is on Mercedes Benz level. I am so impressed Raiti. The engine is so quick. The interior looks like it cost atleast 90k flat. Go Mazda
Sophisticated and subtle, they hit the nail on the head with the Melting Copper, it really suits the car's styling perfectly, I have never seen such an elegant Mazda before.
I really love this Mazda CX 70. This one to me is a really really sharp vehicle and if you see one on the road you know that this is the Apostle to the mid-size suvs.
Mazda products are a great value, I’d say the Mazda CX70 is about 85% of a BMW X5 40i M Sport for $30k less, which is impressive, the BMW is still a great option if you want the extra 15% (but imo the M Sport Pkg is a must have with the X5)
This is the only SUV I would consider. I own a 2018 Mazda 6 Grand Touring with 23k miles that I love. Mazda is killing it with what they are giving you for the price.
I was shopping for the CX-70 vs X5 and I did decide to go with a pre-owned G05 x5 40i M sport. After driving both extensively, I concluded the X5 has superior acceleration, handling, interior design, technology and infotainment. CX-70 is a bargain + compelling choice in its price bracket against the x3, but equating it to the x5 is misleading. While it’s a budget version, the x5 is notably better.
@@kathleenhk agreed man! Hoping I don’t have to spend too much on it! So far, it’s been out of warranty just over year (now 5 years old and mileage just crossed 80,000). So far, so good, nothing but oil changes, not sure how long this will keep up but I guess I’ll find out lol.
Similar experience, but I own a M Car as well. I have internal bias, however don’t try and sell me something that it’s not. I wouldn’t buy a BMW under the same premises. The Hyundai group is doing the best combination of luxury SUV to price ratio right now. Just my opinion after driving the Genesis R&D and the Hyundai and KIA downstream products.
Just brought one a month ago the more I drive it the better it gets took my first trip Pittsburgh to myrtle beach had no problems nobody mentioned the gas mileage I averaged 27 with hard driving and fully loaded my 2016 cx9 would not get better than 23 on many trips with the same driving to get 340 hp and that kind of gas mileage in a inline 6 is remarkably
The fact that ratti mentioned a $85,000 bmw in this video tells you all you need if you should buy this or not. Also, I think the color matched spoiler looks better than the gloss black here. The 2025 cx 90 will have a few “sport” trims with black accents.
Love this CX-70, love the melted copper also! Joe - The bad thing about long roof spoilers is they add parasite drag to the vehicle, noticed Mazda has theirs short cut and also sloped downwards to parallel the back window to reduce the parasite drag at the rear of the vehicle. Smart by Mazda ! I agree with you on it should have a chrome steel exh tip exposed !
Mazda really nailed the design of this and the CX-90. They look a little basic in photos, but in person, they're imposing, clean, and expensive looking, with great lines and sculpting to the body. It's refreshing to see.
I was thinking it would be great if Mazda made stainless steel inserts for the rear cup holder area. It would be a place to put water and food for pets on long rides!
I don’t Agee in comparing this to a BMW X5. This is a mainstream commodity offering that should be compared to others of the same category. Like Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, etc. I’d buy this CX70. Each we it offers great value with detail features without breaking the bank. And oh I love that it’s made in Japan.
@@TimMorgan5150 I'm the opposite, anything that doesn't have command control knobs at you relaxed arm fingertips is outdated, once you use the controls, you'll know what I mean. No leaning forward from your seat and dirtying up the screen, keep your eyes on the road, not on the spot on the screen that you have to touch.
I liked the CX-70 so much, I bought one. I had a 2023 CX-9 and while I felt it seemed a bit more nimble, this CX-70 drives and handles beautifully. And I think it's the best looking SUV out there right now. Keep the reviews coming, Joe. We're watching!
It’s not about whether you’re right or wrong with what you like…..everyone has their own likes and dislikes…..if they like it they buy it….if they don’t they don’t. Love the channel ❤
My wife and I own both the Mazda CX70 and the BMW X5 and we both agree that the BMW X5 is a far superior SUV in performance, Handling, build quality, looks, comfort, and safety. On the 2024 auto reliability chart BMW and Mazda scored the same very reliable near the top with Toyota and Honda. Even Toyota and Lexus are now using BMWs B58 engines in their vehicles. That speaks volumes about the quality and reliability of BMW today.
I love this car. But if mazda is truly going to compare themselves to BMW they need to do one thing: seats. Upgrade the seats. Lets get to 16 way driver, 12 way passenger and manual thigh extension. Seat comfort isnt talked about enough when comparing 'premium' vehicles to luxury.
I really like the CX-70 so now I'm trying to decide between leasing the 2025 CX-5 Carbon Turbo or Signature trim as well as the CX-70 Premium Plus, S Premium, or S Premium Plus trims
Let's see. I agree with you on all your zonks. Like the wheels better than on the 90. Having now seen the Melting Copper paint, I really like it, even though I'd prefer Machine Gray Metallic with the dark red Napa leather, which of course, is not available. No problem with the no-touch infotainment system, as I had a similar setup with my 2010 RX-350. I got used to the trackpad. The voice recognition in the 350 sucked, hope it's better in the CX-70. It sounds awesome!
I really love Mazda but your right Joe, the CX-70 should have been on a shorter wheelbase, the same platform as the CX-60, I wiil wait and not be a beta testor like the CX-90 drivers of today. They could have made this same car as a CX-90-X or S. Really should have had all these engine/tranny software issues worked out before release. Really strange that the PHEV seems to work better than the straight 6 engine choices. And can you PLEASE add to be able to option out of a panoramic/sunroof. I keep my cars more than 5 years and the usually start to leak and cause all kind of problems especially if you park under trees. Cant wait to see how much it costs to get those panoramic roofs repaired. =P
Wow! That Color and Grille is probably top 5 out all mid size Suvs. Anyone that has driven a Mazda knows Mazda has its own unique power train. Premium and awesome dilvery. I'm glad Mazda has pulled out all stops to stay relevant and premium. I remember the Mazda Millenia Mazda 626 and 929 to me was on top of all Asian Car Brands. But Mazda was dominated by Nissan Infiniti which to me....is the best Japanese Car brands
Was it 8 speed or 10 speed auto gearbox? The only thing they screwed up is leaving all the 3rd row cup holders etc back there were the 3rd was. Great review and a nice car!
@@DeeEllEff what major repairs have you had? I own CX-5 2018 GT, it's had zero issues , still looks brand new , only thing I changed was all 4 brakes, 50,000.
If you extend that rear plastic to make an spoiler like you suggest, you are further reducing rear visibility for the drive. I think Mazda considered it and went with safety.
Joe, you have a huge problem with fake vents and fake exhausts.... but absolutely love fake diffusers!! Where's the consistency?!?! But... I do LOVE your channel!!
I'm really starting to like this car. I too wish they would have some exposed exhaust pipes to give it that I got some stones under the hood look. Just got power back on in Tallahassee and got to watch Raiti's rides...
Great golf buggy ! Lots of room for the sticks . I don’t know if it’s just me or not but the gap between the so called premium brands and some other manufacturers like Mazda has really narrowed the differences in the overall premium market of SUV’s
I'm sold....I'll lease one in 2026....right now we are in process of buying a home ND we will need to spend a few bucks on some yard installation and a few pieces of furniture and outdoor furniture too....build up the savings account again....LOL....but the CX70 looks and sounds awsome.
Zoom zoom should show some exhaust tips! It looks like the rear seats are sitting too low. Methinks this is a serious contender for me, although the price is up there.
Mazda design is so simple yet powerful. The sides look smooth at first but they are made of some really complex curves. The complete opposite of a lot of other brands
Looks like a good vehicle. Couple of "zonks" though: No fog lamps. With no 3rd row, the 2nd row should be given extra legroom (looked marginal in video). Also, there appeared to be no spare tire (and no mention of that). Thanks for the test drive!
Hi Joe. I’m a little bit more interested in a 2.5 liter cx-80. But because I want it so much, I doubt we will get that one in the USA. CX-(even number) usually means “Never to be sold in the USA.” Thanks for the video. I don’t really like the way the CX 70 and CX-90 look in the rear. It looks like somebody bit its butt. Have a good one sir. Cheers.
Mazda created a new model for the two row CX-90 because in the US auto market few models offer a 2 or 3 row configuration, the automaker will just offer two different models (Pilot vs Passport, X5 vs X7, et al.)
Mazda literally made a CX90 with the 3rd row removed and called it the CX70 What they really need to do is make a performance version of the CX90 with an engine tune, brembos, performance tires, adaptive suspension and performance exhaust
Why waste brembos and emissions credits on a family hauler? Make a rwd Mazda6 and stitck that on a vehicle with a decent center of gravity instead. Its why any real enthusiast stays away from anyone who bought an AMG GLE or an X5M/X6M. Its just not present up in the gray matter
I'm comparing this to X3 M40i. The CX 50 may be in the size class to the X3 but its lacking similar features. The B58 is an excellent motor and an I6 is pretty much always smoother. Really like this machine though, test drive to decide😅.
How does the CX70 ride/handle compared to the CX90, ik you said the CX70 is more engaging to drive compared to the CX90, but am confused what you meant when you said that?
Great review as always joe👍👍. Mazda great looking suv. But not the ultimate driving machine. Comparing apples 🍎 and oranges 🍊 .. u and Lori stay safe storm is coming
Now I love this car how it looks but I still like how the cx9 look it was more classy styling. but the inside the cx70 and cx90 wins. But the cx9 interior age well also😊 but sitll werid that it’s a cx90 just with the 3 row deleted. Why not the cx50 that was released in the uk that would have been better.
You're wrong about the back end. No zonk deserved. Ever see the exhaust on a BMW or other brand with a rectangle opening and round exhaust? It gets dirty and kinda nasty. Don't have that problem on my white Turbo S Premium CX-70. It turned over 2 thousand miles today 😁
If anyone has any accurate numbers I'm curious about the actual 0-60 times on this model. Online I'm seeing everything from 5.4 to nearly 8 seconds. I'm seriously doubting the 5.4 claim only because the Ford Explorer ST has a 5.2s 0-60mph and it weighs less while having substantially more power. I would imagine this version of the CX-70 is good for around 6 seconds or a little over.
