French companies are well known for making light, very responsive cars that are at their best on twisty roads. Check Renault and Peugeot history... In terms of driving experience and satisfaction, they are among the best

So glad they relaunches the Alpine name. They've made it a real driver's car too. I am sure they will bring out a faster model if this one is successful. Nice review Sam.

Great review!! This is a long awaited revival of the Alpine brand, and I guess Renault have done it perfectly this time. Alpine has never been about pure power but rather lightweight and pleasure of driving. I have owned a Boxster previously and I think it is the most fun car to drive and enjoy on a daily basis, but I would definitely buy the Alpine rather than anything else in its class. Hopefully a future S version!

I actually recommended this car on one of your video's when you were hunting for a daily, you should have waited!!! Such a special car, but it would have even better if it had a manual gearbox!!

Such a shame that this car doesn't have a manual option. A lightweight mid-engined car that meant to be hooned down mountain roads, it practically begging for it.

Hey, Sam! Original A110 owner here (specifically a 1969 A110 1300S). I just wanted to thank you for the great review! Sadly, the new A110 won't be coming to my country, but I wish you well on a very difficult decision. I think a lot of people in the comments misunderstand the point of the new Alpine. It's an experience machine, not a numbers machine. Sure, it performs very respectably for the price, but it's much more about the sound, the agility, and the sense of occasion. Additionally, I love the fact that they drew so heavily from the design of the original. Originally (on the first A110), that odd, four-headlight design was done in order to maximize night-time visibility (when rallying) without having to increase the coefficient of drag. Personally, i love the homologation look, but I know that it's not for everyone. In many ways, since this new one isn't a rally car, I wish they'd copied the A108 more than the A110, but, to each his or her own.

I prefer this over the Porsche! Both cool cars though :)

I think people are mixing up lightweight and quality. They did everything to make the car lighter so some things are going to feel thin and light not heavy and dense like in a Mercedes

That new Renault Alpine A110 is a really beautifully designed / engineered car and seems to show an awesome performance. Anyway, IMHO it still has to prove itself as reliable as the Porsche Cayman!

Great review Sam,your green porker is a fantastic car,but the Alpine has captured your heart. Sometimes you just got to go with your feelings. That's why we love our cars.

A faster version of the A110 is expected to be made, its going to cost around 10-15% more and should have enough power to launch the car to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds :)

I think one of the reasons he asked to swap for the Alpine A110 is he could afford the insurance and running costs, but maybe not a Ferrari's.

Awesome to see an Alpine re-launch! the car looks amazing both inside and out and I am quite frankly impressed with the build quality. That being said the reason why they compare the a110 mk2 to your Cayman S is the price range. Roughly 52k british pounds vs 64k $ Cayman S. The performance figures at low speed are also roughly the same. On the track I'd put my money on the Cayman S but I think the alpines have near unmatchable driving dynamics.

These sort of reviews really are your thing. Not many manage to make this vlog style review thing interesting start to finish. Car is pretty fucking cool as well, those leds make it look like some sort of venomous spider that snatches versace lizards from a cozy little hole in the ground. Honestly think it's a great sports car to drive on European roads.

The Alpine looks fantastic if you ask me and I'd love to have the opportunity to drive one, far more desirable than a Cayman if you ask me, although you won't like me for saying that Sam. I do have one very picky complaint with the car though - just how thick is the bezel on the touchscreen?! Yes, I know that is such a silly thing to pick out, but it just seemed to really stand out to me. On another note, I agree with that others said, and that it should be available with the option of a manual gearbox. As always Sam, top notch video!

Thanks for this great review and it makes me wish I can start my company to evebtually own one of these. I have been into Alpines before and the automobile engineering professor at the Engineering School in Montreal used to race in an Alpine A110 from the 60s.

I think you should wait for the up-tuned version of the A110 so you can make a fair judgement whether to swap it with your Cayman S. Question on your videos, tho; are you planning to do a long-length vlog of the trips you go to in the future? I'm talking about more of just the casual things you've edited out like the lunch breaks, conversations you're having, the behind the scenes of the events, etc. You seem to be filming (most of) them, and the places you go to these days are just breathtaking. Would love to see it more! :D
