A gold label repro of 'Please Please Me' makes sense due to its anniversary - hope it has some new extras/demos etc(?) and maybe 'Rubber Soul' later in the year(??!) - Happy 2023 Stripey....🙂
I got mine for christmas as well, absolutely love it, only listened to the remix disc and the papper back writter/rain single so far but i rather like the new mix its like the mono broadened out into stereo is the best way i cpuld decribe it. For those who say it's "not faithful" id like to point out that its called a remix there would be very little point in calling it such if it sounds the same as the original no wouldnt there?. Atleast he hasnt made tge tracks into edm tracks. Such people might not know that this is not a remaster which is essentially like spray painting a car, it looks shiny but its still the same car underneath, remixing is more like going into the engine and fiddling about, its a much more foudational proccess. New mono disc is nice as a replacement for my old mono disc, although i must say it is very warped, infact they all aree accept the new remix, i do hope that dont cause too many issues. Im not sure, think my favourite would be abby road perhaps ill have to live with revolver a tad longer, but it is the one ive wanted since sgt pepper so revolver is default my fave 😁. Least favourite is get back, its just not an album i really care about.
Hi yer Stripey, glad you and yours had a peaceful Christmas mate. Love your rambles, i never think they are too long, it's just like a chat over a beer or two. So, back too the main event This is certainly the best stereo version of Revolver i have ever been privileged to listen to. I personally prefer the mono version but as you say it's personal choice. As for the boxed sets, i chose the C.D versions to get the books and brought the vinyl albums alone separately to get the best of both worlds. I am lucky enough to have a understanding wife 😉 I have the mono vinyl box set you mentioned ( along with the original vinyl....being born in 1956). I can tell you that the new mono version is faithful in my opinion sir. Roll on the rest of the albums Strixpey, good shout as to what comes next. Please please me would be great as you pointed out. I’m privileged to have a nice collection of original 60’s UK mono and stereo pressings of the albums, but didn’t get an opportunity to get the 2014 mono box set or the individual releases back then, because I was busy wanting to find the originals haha. However, if there are more new releases from Giles, I hope they include the mono mix with the super deluxe sets like this one for Revolver. Anyone who doesn’t have originals or unfortunately missed out on the 2014 reissues, can get all the early albums in mono.!
Great video mate. I've got all the CD deluxe versions. Everyone of them is a treasure and listening to them a pleasure. Its like new light through old windows really isn't it. The songs we all love and know just clearer, cleaner and certainly with the stereo mixes; much more order to the previous chaotic mixes. Where they go next; especially with Mr Jackson's new technology; is anyone's guess. Rubber Soul obviously. But after that, is there enough extras to warrant the deluxe box sets? Maybe Please Please Me and With The Beatles could come together and the same with A Hard Days Night and Beatles For Sale. Leaving Help perhaps with a film DVD. Even the possibility of The Star Club album with Peter Jackson's technology might see the light of day. The future as they say is wide open. Hope for all the best for you and yours in 2023 and everyone else on your channel
Hey Bud, that's a good point. They may well double up the earlier albums because of the lack of extras, I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hope your Christmas was great and all the best for 2023 mate

The Abby Road is a bit less then all of the rest in sound. Let it Be is great too and you do well on your channel, and I am glad to see you back mate!!!! I do like RS a lot, but I would like to see Please Please me first yes and like you were saying!!! I am with you about the book mate!!! Hi Stripey, nice, glad you got it. I was also blown away by the new mono vinyl. I do have the 2014 reissue and I think this new one is better and I am glad to have it. I agree with your assessment of the sets so far - the book makes the sets really special. Happy new year, Matt

It’s hard to pick, Stripey. By the way, I dig the mustache and beard, a cool look 😎 with this set and definitely the Let It Be one, you get so much stuff with both, it’s hard to choose. The Let It Be set, the new Get Back documentary and the new book fit together like a triangle release don’t they.? I think Revolver has the best sessions extra’s so far. But definitely that mono disc just makes the set for sure, I enjoyed the new mix, but that mono disc…man… ❤
Cheers Quinn, I agree, the Let It Be box- Get Back blu ray - book together make quite a set but as you said Revolver has great sessions & the mono (which I didn't have) sounds fantastic. I hope the following sets have the same treatment.
The double and single CD releases are the only ones that aren't a rip-off. The 5-disc CD box is the worst offender. 2hrs 42mins, over 5 cds?! Dylan's Cutting Edge collection featured 7 hrs of material over 6 discs! Don't get me wrong, the contents are sublime (especially the box set in this video), but what a cheek! Good Day Sunshine? Daylight Robbery, more like.

Love your videos. Question: Do you have a mono stylus? I bought a stylus for my turntable from Amazon that had a comment telling how to (easily) convert it to mono use (two copper wires, one each around two of the for wires) and the difference is amazing.
Hi mate, The sound of all these boxes is great. For me The White Album is the best because of all the sessions and Esher Demos. Let It Be is a disappointing box because they could have done more sessions cd's in the box. Or maybe it is because I have the complete A/B Road series that contains the month of January 1969. Soundwise, like I said, they are all great. These are my versions to go to, especially the 3 mono ones. I own all sets on cd and on vinyl. I don't miss the surround versions. I have no 5.1 sound system. I think Rubber Soul will be next and there is maybe a small chance that Please Please Me will be next, but there are not a lot of sessions or demos of PPM. Just bought the deluxe CDs , wasnt overly impressed with Sgt Peppers ( bit loud )and The White Album ( hearing things im not supposed to ) but Abbey Road , Let It Be and especially Revolver sound fantastic ,,,think it was a learning process for them , looking forward to the early ones , my CDs from 2009 dont sound great
Glad many of you are happy but where's the 5.1 and hi-rez mix that was done but not included? Mind blown by it's absence. Was so looking forward to hearing Tomorrow Never Knows in surround :/
It is weird they left the Blu Ray out, I haven't collected the CD's so I don't have any but I guess Tomorrow Never Knows would sound amazing in surround sound
I don’t think modern pressed mono lps need a mono stylus. Back in the day the mono lps had different grooves that stereo styli would play a dead channel( all surface noise, no signal). Modern mono lps don’t have this issue on stereo styli. All my mono reissues play quietly but og pressings dont ( and i have mint 60s mono lps).
